Four Acre Woods Campground

14 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents4 acres · Deer Isle, ME
A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. After opening on July 1st 2020, the land is finally back to sharing all of her beauty and spirit with the people. So, Welcome Home. Sincerely, - Four Acre Woods Caretakers

Camps of the Pioneers

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents7 acres · Ellsworth, ME
Our property has a history detailed in the arrowheads and other Wabanaki artifacts found around the property. European settlers have also left clues behind of the shipbuilding industry and 1700's culture.Experience a bit of natural immersion and enjoy the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation while camping in the northern forests of Downeast Maine! We use our 6 acre property to focus on producing organically grown herbs, fruit, vegetables for local markets. We're finally making available the properties scenic brooks, forests and meadows to folks seeking to experience a truly unforgettable, countryside retreat. We’re just off the beaten path in an agricultural and fishing community on the Union River, 20 minutes drive from Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island. See what our other guests have had to say about their stays-“It’s an experience I would repeat with pleasure. Difficult to be short about my highlights: hearing the loon at night certainly, waking up with the quarter moon over my head, seeing the progression in changing colors of the leaves, the views from Mount Cadillac, and Beech Wood trail, Jordan Pond and the Bubbles,so many things really.” - Christine from Montpelier, France, Sept 2021."We were so at peace when we got here we just spent the rest of the day hanging at the yurt enjoying the peace and quiet today we are heading to the ocean!"- Jody from New Hampshire, July 2021."We could not have found a more idyllic place, plus it was our first experience in a yurt. We found your notes about Acadia super helpful and the yurt was just so beautiful and cozy. Having a hot bath and a little fire in the wood stove after a day of biking the Carriage Roads and swimming at Sand Beach could not have been more perfect. So glad we were at the yurt to enjoy the area and Acadia. We had an incredible stay and are hoping to come back next summer."- Jenn & Neil, August 2020.

Eagle View Coastal Campground

1 site · RV, Tent5 acres · Sullivan, ME
Come relax on this private 5 acre waterfront escape. A long driveway will open up into a cleared lot. The end of the driveway is a large crushed gravel parking pad which should easily accommodate any RV or trailer (make sure you back in, there's no room to turn around). The pad is mostly flat, but minor leveling on RV's is probably still needed. Site overlooks Flanders Bay which feeds into Mount Desert Narrows. Watch the family of 5 eagles fly back and forth across the cove and bring binoculars to watch them as they perch in nearby trees. The cove is filled with a variety of seabirds and the occasional harbor seal. You will have complete quiet as you listen to the sounds of forest and coastal life.Property is located 11 miles from Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National park and a quick 35 miles from Bar Harbor. From May through mid November, site includes access to a HOT outdoor shower, well water, a working sink with hot water. Water is turned off after November 15th until late spring, weather dependent. There is an electric outlet for small electronics like laptops/phones/coffee pot NOTE-there is NO 30 amp hookup - site includes a campfire area, lots of open spaces to pitch a tent, and an outhouse. (Yurt access NOT included- private residence)

This is a residential 7 acre property in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We are right off the main road for easy access. It is very peaceful and calm here. We live in the 5 bedroom older farmhouse where you can use the bathroom if needed. You will receive a code for the electronic door lock. We have a new and developing veggie garden. There is a small stream and community fireplace by the 4 campsites and another fireplace closer to the garden. The designated campsites are at the rear of the property and are first come, first serve. A tent can be set up anywhere on the 7 acres and does not need to be in the designated campsite area. Car camping, van life, and RVs also welcome! There are some lightly wooded areas, apple trees, a pear tree, and an open field. We are pet friendly and there animals that live here that won't bother you. I am a Reiki Master and can potentially offer healing sessions if that is something you may be interested in. I also travel a lot as a DJ and audio tech and might not be here, but have a self check in process and video I will send. Also, roommates are generally here. Maine Savings Amphitheatre is 15 min away (concerts in Bangor). Acadia National Park is just over 1 hour away. Bangor and Bucksport are both about 15 min away. Fort Knox is about 20 min away. From the campsites, the road and house are not visible. We have flowers when in season, deer, turkey, birds, and friendly creatures that visit. *Please be aware, this is rustic camping in the yard. This is not a campground or upscale facility. Please be ready to be self sufficient and sustainable in any weather. Well water is available and passes all tests - pure and safe for drinking. RVs can park in the driveway and we can likely only host one at a time. For RVs, Electric hook up is 15amp and an extra $5/day. Water hook up is $2/day. We have hosted up to 20 people at once, and as few as 1. Sometimes we get campers who are going to a concert in Bangor, which is awesome. Any hours coming and going are fine! Glamp It Up With Gert in Brooklin!

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Blue Hill, ME
“Gert” is a 1968 completely renovated camper set in a lovely field overlooking the Benjamin River in Brooklin. The field is above a boatyard that specializes in wooden boats. She is ideal for a single or couple, with a state of the art composting toilet, solar shower (there is no hot water in this old girl!), mini fridge, and gas 3 burner stove. She has a queen sized bed, a microwave, and all the kitchen pans and utensils you would need. There is a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and hammock and two kayaks you can launch from the site. This property is about an hour from Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor, Asticou Gardens, and many beaches and sights. It makes a perfect base for your day trips and a peaceful retreat where fireflies and stars abound. There is plenty to do right here, though. Check out the “Things to Do in the Area” page of the Brooklin Inn! https://www.thebrooklininn.com/explore Mid May and June are great times to book - you will be here before the crowds and it’s warmer than it used to be usually. Plus the mosquitoes haven’t gotten the message yet and you can enjoy sitting outside in the evening. But the summer is amazing here on the coast, as always. Watch the boats come in and out of the river from the dock or your campsite. Join them in the kayaks! September and early October are also wonderful times to visit the coast of Maine! We offer a 15% discount from now until October 1st, so come on over. The crowds at Acadia have largely departed, the water is calm, the weather is great, and everything is still open. Summer is definitely not the only time to see Maine - many people actually prefer after Labor Day when it is quieter if you are out and about. So come see us - have a campfire, hike, paddle, and watch the stars. We close for the season in October and reopen in May. Hope to see you!

The Point

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Gouldsboro, ME
The Point is located in Gouldsboro, in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula near the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park on occupied Wabanaki land. The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature. Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can look like in this changing world. Thanks for caring to come, see, explore, learn and being apart of the solution! <3 We hope to hear from you <3
