HomeGrown HideAways is a farm, lodging, and event facility nestled in a hundred-acre holler in the Appalachian foothills near Berea, Ky. Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a bunkhouse, retro camper, water/electric hook-ups, and campsites. We also host weddings, retreats, and other events so advance reservations are required.
For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse).
All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH!
Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap.
The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge.

When you want to get away to nature, what do you envision? We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers.
That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Oh, and you will absolutely hear whipoorwhills, most likely at a time you'd rather not (we've decided they're charming).
Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars.

Haymark Farm is a 285-acre farm in Ewing, KY, where alfalfa hay is produced. To the interest of fossil hunters and rock hounds, the creeks are packed with geodes, agates, coral, and relics of an age when Plantasia was the ocean floor (~250 million years ago).
Plantasia is also a short drive from Berea, the folk art capital of Kentucky, which features plenty of local shops and restaurants, as well as some beautiful trails on the outskirts of town (Brushy Fork for a relaxing stroll, or pick your trail at the Pinnacles for a big majestic hike). As well, Owsley Fork Reservoir, 15 minutes away, functions as a gorgeous mountain lake to fish, kayak, or canoe.

Haymark Farm is a 285-acre farm in Ewing, KY, where alfalfa hay is produced. The farm has picturesque ridges and hills at one of the highest elevations in the area, allowing spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Three different branches of Buchanan creek begin on the farm and run together on the back of the property. There are also two small ponds and several barns (including one for your horses) on the property.

We hope you enjoy your time here at Haymark Farm, where Mark's great-grandfather Rufus began farming more than a hundred years ago.

*We are one mile from Handi-mart grocery/gas in Ewing, and 10 miles to Flemingsburg, with restaurants. Don't miss the famous covered bridges, especially Goddard Bridge, and the Dinner Bell Amish store in Flemingsburg. We are 8 miles to Blue Licks State Park, 15 miles to historic Old Washington (have breakfast at Lil Jumbo's and shop at Local 68); 20 miles to charming Maysville on the Ohio River (good eats and important history); and 50 miles to Lexington (with The Kentucky Horse Park nearby).

Our property, Plantasia, is thirty-five acres of hardwood forest, lined with limestone boulders and sandstone cliffs, the occasional old growth tree, and mineral springs pouring out pure delicious water. The rest of the property is an old Appalachian homestead, featuring organic gardens and orchards, two farm cats and one farm dog, bee hives, and a flock of domestic ducks. The stewards are Phil, Sacha, four year-old Aurora, and baby Arthur. We are particularly keen to welcoming other families and/or folks who live in relative sobriety.
The springs feed into creeks which criss-cross the wildflower meadow, creating spaces to splash and explore with the minnows, crawdads, frogs, snakes, and whoever else you might find. To the interest of fossil hunters and rock hounds, the creeks are packed with geodes, agates, coral, and relics of an age when Plantasia was the ocean floor (~250 million years ago).
Plantasia is also a short drive from Berea, the folk art capital of Kentucky, which features plenty of local shops and restaurants, as well as some beautiful trails on the outskirts of town (Brushy Fork for a relaxing stroll, or pick your trail at the Pinnacles for a big majestic hike). As well, Owsley Fork Reservoir, 15 minutes away, functions as a gorgeous mountain lake to fish, kayak, or canoe.

Excellent hospitality as Mark came over and greeted me after getting in around 18:00. Great views from the hilltop at the Oakridge site. Liz had great communication although spotty cell service at site but that’s why you camp right! Definitely be back in the future.

We loved tent camping by the river. Keven and John are warmly kind and helpful hosts— they even offered us strawberries just because they had extra! The friendly mini and full sized horses wandering around the property made the experience even more beautiful. It’s peaceful and quiet and was ideal for fishing, painting and rock-hopping (mine and my husband’s favorite pastime), and my husband caught a catfish which we ate that night for dinner. We’ll definitely be back!

Would definitely visit here again. The space feels secluded thanks to where the location sits on the property and it was well-maintained. Sunset and night sky views were amazing from the deck as we were lucky to have clear skies during our stay. It was a great location and the host was very responsive. Next time we are in the area and not backpacking...this will be our base again!

My friends and I stayed here for 2 nights. It was so quiet and peaceful. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely suggest a 4x4 vehicle since there are some very steep hills to climb.

To be honest, when I first saw the area, I was a little bit skeptical. But let me say, it was worth every last penny to stay there. The campsite was very well maintained and Bart even left a few sticks of firewood for me to use. I had no trouble with any critters or disturbances at the campsite. Behind the cabin leads a steep trail that can be a little bit of a challenge to hike up if you have a heavy load, so I would advise taking as little up as you can. The trails up are very well labeled and there are even ropes to help you reach the top. If you do make it up to the top of the mountain, you are greeted with very well maintained trails and a beautiful view of the forest around you. I would advise going up around sunset as it really captures the beauty of the forest. You can travel for a while on the trails, seeing all the wildlife and plants around you, even when its dark--though I wouldn't recommend staying out too long. I had a great time and even when my car battery died, Bart remained very respondent and helpful. If you are looking for a good place to camp while in Kentucky to see Daniel Boone forest or Red River Gorge, I can't recommend a better place than Bart's!

The view is pretty spectacular. We went biking crossing the small creeks and enjoyed the serenity of the place. It was such a beautiful place and we had a starry night. We saw a couple of shooting stars as we lay on a mat stargazing. It was a scene from a show. The hosts were very kind and generous. Bart and his wife provided everything we could have needed in the camping and showed us all the different fun things to check out. Nothing will beat their hospitality. They have a yoga deck and a very cool bathroom and outdoor shower. The owners and their children are clearly nature enthusiasts themselves. What made our experience even more amazing was hearing the coyotes howling in the middle of the night.

Weekend Trip to Red River Gorge Glamping Resort
Yurt #4 was dreamy. I am still so impressed by the bedding. I haven't slept that well in a while. The queen-sized mattress was so comfortable, and the sheets were so soft. I brought extra bedding because I was worried about getting cold. No need! I was so grateful for the heater and the ambience of the flames. The sound of the rain on the yurt was unreal. Zero leaks, too!!! Everything was clean including the very modern bath house. The water was hot and the heaters in there were so welcome. I was excited to see the K-cup coffee maker. I only wish we had packed our small camp table. I saw some of the other yurts had a table though. Thank goodness we brought our canopy to cook under and escape the rain. We did not get to try the communal hot tub. Overall, we loved this Retreat and really hope to visit again when we return to the incredible Red River Gorgeous!!!!! Peace and appreciation to our wonderful hosts :)

Bart is as exceptional host. Quick to respond and proactive with information. The location is quiet and peaceful. We didn't get to do much exploring due to upcoming weather but the camp sites are nice and flat. <20 minutes from Irvine. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to visiting again. Highly recommend this hipcap.

Nice spot. Open field with a fire pit, picnic table, some trees, and next to the river. Host was very responsive to my messages and only took a minute or two to respond. There is a very very friendly cat on the farm and it will hang out either you by the campfire. Woke up with some horses walking up to us to say hi (friendly as well). Only downside was some dogs barking in the middle of the night.

Wow where to start. The farm is beautiful. So much land to hike and enjoy nature. The hosts were so kind and helpful with everything. The bunkhouse was great - with good sleeping bags and some blankets it works great in winter. The farmhouse/kitchen was incredible. So cozy and everything you could need to cook great meals and feel at home. Honestly could not recommend this place more. Affordable, beautifully designed, warm, and so many thoughtful details like yummy coffee and tea. They have so many options to stay- great place for everybody!

Weekend Trip to Red River Gorge Glamping Resort
This is a cute little cabin, perfect for one or two people who want a peaceful time in the Gorge with lots of hanging out time. My husband and I rented this for a between Christmas and new years break and had a wonderful time. The living room is bright and cheery because of all the windows and we had so much fun relaxing and playing board games.
The hosts are very welcoming and responsive and took care of a problem with the hot tub later in the evening.
