The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevation 20 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. The kitchen may have limited access during special events or retreats. There are several fire pits and open fields for frisbee, volley ball, horse shoes, and corn hole games in the camping area. Amazing camp site on 87 acres with open fields and grand daddy oaks with amazing sunrise and sunsets and plenty of open area for stargazing. Visit our 500 year old live oak tree. The property is 5 min to Interstate 75 (414 Exit). O'Leno State (https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/oleno-state-park) is a 5 min drive. We have a life time park pass so entry to the park is free for us. Please ask us about that. We have power and water only at our Hip-camp. We have 3 RV slips on the property, each with 50 Amp electric and water hookups. Ichetucknee Springs State Park (https://ichetuckneesprings.com/) 15-20 min drive from our site. We also have access to the private areas on Itchetucknee and Santa Fe River and have kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, and other inflatable. Ginnie Springs (https://ginniespringsoutdoors.com/) and Rum Island (https://www.lakecityfl.com/listing/rum-island-spring-and-park) are also a short drive from our site. We also have a large tent camping area with 5 tent sites that are covered and have access to power and water. The Radiant Oaks Center is adjacent to the R/V sites and camping area. This facility is used for retreats. R/V's and campers will have access to 2 full bathrooms and fully equipped ped kitchen area with refrigerator stove and microwave, coffeemaker and plenty pots, pans and dishes. The kitchen may have limited access during special events or retreats. There are several fire pits and open fields for frisbee, volley ball, horse shoes, and corn hole games in the camping area. The building also has a large covered outdoor pouch area with lights and fans for rainy days, to hang out. reading, card games, etc. As mentioned earlier, we are on 80+ acres and plenty of room to roam and trails to explore. The city of High Springs and Lake City are each a short drive away have lots of shops, restaurants, and groceries. Feel free to ask us for recommendations. This is a working agriculture area with lots of wild life. We are not responsible injuries caused by animals, fauna, or fences that you may encounter.

1 night at Neal’s Nest

We stayed at Neal's Nest twice in the past month, as a stopover on our way to visit family in Georgia. Because we were several family members traveling together, we rented an RV site as well as the little cottage. We felt like our host, Tina, has created a really lovely little camping spot. It's quiet, clean, and she's added so many things to make one's stay enjoyable - from the sensor light that comes on at the gate, to the inviting fire pit and grill area, to the volleyball net. The cottage was probably a shed in a former life, but she has really made it a guest cottage. The bed was comfortable, the shower was large and had plenty of hot water, and everything was spotless. We enjoyed having a peaceful cup of coffee on the cottage porch in the morning. We'll definitely be staying here again.

Sarah's site was well off the beaten path; old Florida country at it's best! The camps have an unobstructed view of the river, with easy access to the dock. Lots of old growth trees for canopy. Sarah was very communicative, willing to work with us as we chose parking for the RVs and overall happy to help. Electric & water hookups are a bit farther away than we were used to, but she told us ahead of time and we were able to bring the connectors needed. Definitely recommend to those seeking a true "get away" without an abundance of unnecessary amenities & people.

5 nights at Monarch Manor Farm

The monarch farm was everything that Rick described it to be and so much more! The sites are huge. We easily fit three tents and had plenty of room left over. The large pond is absolutely beautiful. We fished every day and finally caught some elusive large mouth bass and one huge tilapia. My grandchildren fished from Sun up till sundown. The bath facilities were exactly as described and very comfortable to use. The property was very quiet with only an occasional sound of a truck and of course, our early morning wake up with the rooster. Our two dogs loved, running around and being free. I don’t know if there can be a better host than Rick! He checked on us every day and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved talking to him. This location is only 25 minutes from Gainesville yet very secluded. I think my only recommendation would be to put a different lock on the front gate, perhaps one with a combination but that’s it. I wouldn’t change a single thing. I truly loved being with my family in this location. This is definitely a five star location.

Janet was so easy to work with! This spot has everything you need and Janet and Jerry made everything all ready with firewood and all! The river is a nice short walk and we really enjoyed fishing and playing in the water. We absolutely loved this spot, we felt so secluded and safe. Our young boys and dogs had so much fun running around. The horseshoes were so fun and the sleeping porch was amazing to have the extra sleeping space. Hope we can have the chance to stay longer and explore more of the beautiful Suwannee River next time!

We loved tent camping on Tom’s property at Glenn Farm! We went in November, and the weather was a little chilly overnight, but the firepit was a great addition. No need to bring your own wood, Tom says it helps the farm when campers use windfallen branches. Being not too close to any major cities with light pollution, the stars are numerous and extremely visible on a clear night. We woke up to a scenic fog rolling over the pasture, with Cows grazing in an adjacent field. Tom was very friendly, driving us over to our campsite, checking in with us as he led sheep out to pasture in the morning, and giving us a rundown on local things to do and the history of the property. This is absolutely a hidden gem in northeast Florida, and we will most definitely be coming back again!

The hosts were very accommodating and gracious. Tom gave us an incredible tour and history of the property. His animals are amazing. The site was very private and clean. The sink hole is fascinating, though we weren't comfortable swimming in it. Plan to bring a shovel and toilet plan as the one at the site needs repair. There is plenty of downed wood around you but bring a saw as much of it is too large to break. Be sure to visit Fanning Springs State Park in addition to the better known sites closer by. The swimming area is fabulous and manatees were present.

Tom and Judy were very hospitable and flexible, even when it came to making modifications in our party size. There were 9 of us and we had a great time at arrowhead sink. The sink itself was awesome, we spent a good portion of our time down there (bring some hiking shoes because it’s a steep decline to get into the sink and it’s a little wet and muddy). The location isn’t too far from a gas station and there is even an area with food trucks. Lots of fun!

This is a great place for children and rv camping. Lots of toys, cars, and trucks for the kids to play with. The St. Mary's river borders the property and is accessible for wading, swimming, and fishing. The property itself is very nice with some secluded spots if you want to do some primitive tent camping. There are port-o-let style toilets with a sink and access to potable water.

Wow!! Our first experience using Hipcamp and we probably couldn’t have picked a better place. Tom and Judy are incredibly hospitable. Their land is incredible, we would love to come back!
