Welcome to Valhalla Prairie Farms, a 10-acre oasis located on the prairie in Okeechobee, FL. This is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. It is full of the most beautiful views of the stars and provides peace and quiet, You will be left alone to write that book, let your children run free, meditate, or just relax. Bring your dogs, they will have a blast! This is not a place for glampers, people afraid of nature, or people that cannot deal with bugs or extreme temperatures!!! During certain times of the year and certain times of the day, there are a million bugs! We stay inside during these times. We are 25 minutes from Okeechobee City, the bass fishing capital of the world, 45 minutes to Fort Pierce, & 35 miles from Sebring International Raceway. The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is very close by. The prairie is the darkest part of Florida. Astronomers, bring your telescopes and cameras to capture the night. You will possibly see cows, bobcats, wild turkeys, wild pigs, armadillos, birds, or the neighbors dogs might show up. Don’t worry, they are quite friendly. We have a 50 amp RV Hookup with NO septic and plenty of space for primitive camping. Bring your horse, but there is no paddock or barn. The storage building on the premises is not part of the rental, please leave it alone. There is electricity and non-potable water. The water is safe for teeth brushing, washing dishes, and showering, but it does have a very strong smell of sulfur. There is an outhouse. Please use it sparingly & only flush toilet paper provided. There is an outside sink, an outside shower with no privacy, a picnic table and a fire pit. If you come with your RV, please use your RV toilet. There will be a major fine for any septic dumping. 1/3 of the land is cleared and 2/3 is full of mature oak trees and trails. It is fenced with barbed wire fencing. Please keep your food trash in your cars & take it with you. You do not want to attract predators. You can recycle, or throw away any trash that is not related to food in the garbage can. Keep an eye on your small dogs. There are also snakes and predatory birds. It is hard with words to describe the beauty of this property, so please check out the pictures. Happy Camping!

Irrigation Ditch: There’s an irrigation ditch running through the middle of the campsite, so please be cautious when driving in. Be sure to stay to the right side to avoid any trouble. 2. Mosquito Tips: The mosquitoes can be pretty intense, so I recommend bringing a Thermacell or two and any other mosquito repellent you prefer. When I camped, I kept a Thermacell inside my tent, which worked great to keep them out. Outside, even with two tiki torches, a fire, and a Thermacell, they were still landing on me. A heavy-duty Thermacell might be your best bet. Long sleeves and pants also helped a lot! 3. Site Updates: There’s been some growth at the site since I first listed it on Hipcamp. The back area is still clear, but the middle front section needs mowing. Keep this in mind when setting up your campsite. Also bring firewood. Sometimes there is firewood at the gas stations off the turnpike but it is expensive. Also, there is a subway right off the turnpike if you’re in a crunch for a quick meal

Weekend Trip to Swart Estate

David (our host) was great! Site was beautiful and well maintained. Our family guys trip (kids - 17,16, and 4) had a great time. We ventured to Kissimmee Prairie Preserve for a hike, which was close and easy to get to. Hot showers outside were a needed treat. All facilities were well kept and great additions. Thank you, David.

5 nights at Valhalla Prairie Farm

We enjoyed the peace and quiet at Alaina’s remote property. We had great views of stars and enjoyed the natural surroundings (paths through palms, whippoorwills and woodpeckers and more). We loved the proximity to Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park where we walked trails and enjoyed beautiful sunsets. They even have a “dark sky” viewing sight near the entrance to the park that can be used if you aren’t camping there. This was such a relaxing place!

We took four kids and a dog to Swart Estate and had an excellent time. The property has something for everyone, plenty of space, and just the right amount of facilities. Picnic table, grill, fire pits, sink, and a bath-house made a large group gathering comfortable. David as a host runs his place like a bed and breakfast experience... but without the bed, and without the breakfast.

1 night at Swart Estate

Our family had a great time tent camping at Swart Estate! David is star host and made us feel right at home. We picked from multiple potential camp sites on the property, and set up camp in the shade of the tree hammock. We utilized the shooting range and the archery range. We made friends with the goats and cats, and grilled out and ate in the fenced in bar area to avoid the nighttime mosquitos. The property is meticulosly maintained. And even though you feel like youre ourlt in the middle of no where, we had 5g cell signal at our camp site. 10/10 recommend, and we will be back very soon!
