The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

Our well-maintained campsite is a big, open area with full sun, surrounded by trees which give you plenty of shade if preferred. It is quiet and dark enough for you to hear the wildlife at night! You can also run your generator. THINGS TO DO The wildlife management area is a one minute walk from the campsite with the buford and eagle nest springs inside. There is also a distillery (NJoy Spirit) on site. Seven Sisters springs are a ten minute car ride away. You can rent a kayak or a canoe to go out and see dolphins, turtles, alligators, manatees, snakes, deer, various birds or even bears. Other springs in the area are Hunters Springs, Rogers Park and Three Sisters springs. Crystal River is a charming, historical town 25 minutes north. You’ll pass Homosassa and their State Park (the oldest Hippo Lu (65) lives here). At the waterfront restaurant ‘Crumps’ you can watch monkeys on an island! Dames Cave in Lecanto is about 17 minutes from here with multiple caves to explore. The famous Weeki Wachee Springs State park is a 15 minute drive south highway 19. Howard’s Flea Market is the largest in Citrus County, 10 minutes north from the camp site. ‚Adventure Flg X’ is a fun Zip Line park in Brooksville. Rainbow River Springs is an hour north from Twin Pines. The park has beautiful scenic trails and a water temperature of 72 degrees year round which invites you to explore the river in a tube or kayak. The Weeki Wachee preserve is another beautiful, close spot worth visiting. Disney World, Legoland and Universal Studios are within two hours. St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa and Tarpon Springs are must-see cities! Beaches: Pine Island, Fort Island, Sunwest Park Beach. Further away: Madeira Beach, Honeymoon Island & Fort DeSoto. The views were great and it was nice to be within walking distance of the bathhouse (very nice and clean) but still far enough away from the cabins and other campers to really feel the seclusion. We liked it so much we stayed on our way to South Florida and then stayed here again on our way back home!

We can’t say enough about this beautiful property on 7 acres. You feel enclosed in the woods with lots of privacy. Grounds were perfect. A little tricky backing in, but just take your time and you can manage it. It is priced under market. Making it affordable for most families and a great value. I hope Kate, the owner never sells this gem. It is a property of a lifetime. Springs are bubbling up all around the property. It is located at the end of one of the river’s many private tributaries offering tons of privacy with little boat traffic, I will never forget the experience at this camping site. I would love going back someday and staying longer. Just a note; there is no dock to tie a boat up. So you have to figure out another way to use your boat if you have one. There are public ramps within 5 miles. Swimming and kayaking is available on site.

Great camping spot! If you follow The Crossroads on Facebook you can see what events are happening. There is plenty of space across the property. Rv spots are large and a few with full hookups. Several with just water and power and plenty for tent camping. The whole property is impressive with tons to do. Frank and everyone else out there are super welcoming. We will be back for sure. You get to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunsets by the Sante Fe River, ample space for your footprint, and the hosts were responsive as well as friendly.
