End of the Rainbow campsites are very special, right on the water, and surrounded by gorgeous cypress trees. A heron often hunted at the waters edge and ibis regularly flew thru the camp. Donald was great with our last minute booking and even lent us his person PFD's (lifejackets) to expedite us getting on the water.

Site 8 - Primitive River Paradise
Two rivers meet here and one is busy and one definitely is not. The quieter river was excellent paddling, the busier was kind of a boat parade (we were there on a Saturday). The spot we reserved was already taken when we arrived, didn’t realize it was first come first serve. Spoke with the host on the phone, had a nice conversation. Place is very primitive but not especially remote, (boat traffic, houses across the way). Two things to watch for: poison ivy (mostly near trees) and ticks, found two on me, if you come prepared you will not have a problem. If money is no object this is the place for you.

Site 1 - Primitive River Paradise
This spot was so special! We were able to camp right on the water where the 2 rivers come together and it was so peaceful and private. Primitive with Porta John’s was just fine with us. It was great to enjoy the rivers and paddle back to camp. The wildlife and people/boat watching was great too. Host Donald was very kind and welcoming as well. Worth every penny, we will be back!

One of the best things at the end of the rainbow, no joke. Very convenient and easy for someone wanting to hunker down after a day playing on the river, which is exactly what we needed. The host, Donald, is very responsive and extremely kind and flexible to plans. I will definitely be coming back, and will be recommending to friends.

Perfect location for launching onto Rainbow River! Gorgeous clear water already there. Clean amenities, firepit, picnic benches. Great communication. We enjoyed everything except noise was a bit loud from a condo party across the river, and traffic, although that’s not the site’s fault. Would stay again for sure, but not in a tent. If you have a camper I expect the noise is not a problem. Highly recommend.

It was so perfect that I almost didn’t want to leave a review because that would mean more people should know about this secret gem of a site! My husband and I had just returned from our wedding on the top of a mountain in Norway and after 2 days in the city again we needed to get back into nature. A last minute adventure to rainbow river and we found this beautiful slice of earth to camp on. Booked it on the drive and it was the perfect get away. Worth every penny and if you decide to camp here PLEASE make sure to leave it as it was when you came because I want to come back to this diamond of a site! Donald was unbelievably accommodating and we will definitely be back!

So much fun! We had a really great time camping here. The location is beautiful & it was so cool to see where the two rivers meet. We loved going out on the peddle boat that they had & our own little private dock. They also offered the kayak for us to use but we just never got to it~ super convenient & close to rainbow springs ~ we also had our own fire pit & picnic table which were both very nice. All in all we enjoyed our stay greatly & are thankful for the experience & hospitality offered to us, thank you! (Ps: if you’re allergic to poison ivy watch out ~ thankfully none of us are but I did notice it around everywhere)

This property is wonderful! Fantastic views, great paddling, cool animal sightings, and peace and quiet. Couldn’t ask for a better set up. Toilets were clean and roomy. Donald was very communicative and informative. He met us to explain the property and our campsite. We will definitely be back!

Primitive River Paradise
This is such an awesome site. Lots of trees and views of the water through the cypress forest. Rainbow river, which flows clear is right at the edge of the property. Well kept, super clean. Nice accommodating host. We paddleboarded up the river to a cool little lunch spot called swampys. Tons of wildlife

I love camping on Donald's property. Its the perfect place to get away for the weekend. The scenery is just beautiful being right on the river and sitting on the dock just watching the wildlife and people as they boat, kayak, and paddle by. I will definitely be back.

First of all, Donald is a great host. He made sure we got the property and showed us the last of the land. He gave us our space and privacy but was accessible and checked in on us over text. The campsite is nice with plenty of shade trees. The main attraction of course is its location at the nexus of the rainbow and withlacoochee rivers. You are literally right there. Had a blast kayaking up river and trying to catch some fish. This is an ideal spot if you're into boating, paddling, swimming, etc. Would definitely recommend this spot!

This campsite was absolutely beautiful! It was nice to kick back and fish for a while on the docks and watch the kayakers float by. When I visit Rainbow River again, I plan on staying here!

Primitive River Paradise
Absolutely LOVE this property!! Perfectly positioned at the end of the river to make a full weekend out of paddling or fishing. The docks are fantastic and in great shape. One has a picnic table on it and the other has a hammock chair. Donald (owner) was very flexible with our timing, easy to talk to, and he had a guy available if we needed anything (we didn’t).
We camp somewhat often and this is now our favorite spot! Even our dog was living her best life. We highly recommend this camp.

One of my favorite camping spots so far!!!! The location with the view with a feel of privacy as well. The host Donald was tremendously helpful and nice. Definitely would be going back again.

We had a great experience camping on Donald’s waterfront peninsula with limited campsites that made it very spacious. We had our own floating dock on the river that we found really convenient for a quick stop while on our 3 hour kayak trip from KP Hole down the Rainbow River which passed our campsite along the way. There is a boat ramp on the property where Donald put a jet ski in the water for us. We traveled up and down the Withlacoochee River with it and enjoyed a beautiful trip. The location is unique and ideal for enjoying both rivers. Donald’s hospitality definitely helped make sure we had a memorable experience camping on the river.
This is a gem of a place so if you want to take advantage of wooded, waterfront camping and river activities, this campsite offers all this access right outside your tent door.

This property is stunning! I highly recommend and Donald is a wonderful host (thank you for hosting us). It was such a nice place to camp and had everything we needed. The docks were perfect for launching our paddle boards and just watching the boats pass by while playing fetch in the water with my friend's dog. Bonus points for the port-o-potty being cleaner than any I had ever been in. Next time we want to try paddling over to the Blue Gator restaurant down river, but the fire pits were so nice that we used them to cook all our meals.

Where to start on this picturesque property?!? This is what Florida is. The real Florida. Donald was the most informative host we could have asked for. His property is in the perfect location to enjoy your camping trip in Dunnellon. You literally have the river to yourself before and after the crowds. The fishing is insane even just off the docks. ( you have your own private dock at each site!) Don't worry about shuttles when you stay at Donald's! Just paddle up the river to the spring head! Its an amazing very moderate, 2 hr paddle up, that is just breathtaking the whole way. Or simply leave one car at the secure gated camp and take another to the springhead for a lazy drift back to camp! The wildlife is very abundant in this region. You may even see a monkey! We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. We could have went for the whole week! Don't let the shied amenities scare you. Lady's will have the cleanest porta potty in America. So as for the shower, Cmon your on a spring all day with cleaner water than most city faucets! Enjoy Florida the way its was meant to be seen. Stay with Donald and you'll be thanking yourself after! I know we will be back as regular campers! Thank you so much Donald, it was amazing, till next time friend!

Had such an amazing stay here at Donald’s land. Came on a Monday-Wednesday and had the whole place to ourselves. I stayed alone with my 2 dogs but had 2 visitors come up for one of the days there. We kayaked and paddle boarded off the dock. We wanted to swim but it was actually a bit cool during our stay so we couldn’t bring ourselves to go in the water. Afterwards we sat on the dock for hours, watching the river. It is so peaceful and serene. Only downside was that being on the water, it’s very windy all day but the wind usually dies down after the sun goes down. We enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back!

Primitive River Paradise
We had an epic weekend at the Primitive River Paradise. We booked last minute and found an absolute gem of a space. Donald met us when we arrived, picked out the best site and we were alone the entire time. Highly recommend this space to other primitive camping lovers, the views, nature and location are unmatched.

Primitive River paradise, is definitely a paradise, my friends and I are in love with this spot. We are planning to comeback soon. Donal is really nice and kind, we had a great communication, he directed and met with us once we were in the area. We really enjoyed this amazing place and looking forward to go there again.
