The place was very nicely situated, the campsite was spacious, private, with a fire pit, chairs and a picnic table. Even had an electrical cord to charge up my bluetti. With that said, the bathrooms are a bit of a walk thru the darkness , while lit … for this northerner who’s seen many signs about bears, panthers, poisoned snakes and spiders … it was a bit nerve racking for me, but that’s just me perhaps. Overall a pleasant place, where I slept well.

We tent camped at the hideaway, perfect spot, heard some animas from the neighbors next door (camels, donkeys, birds) totally worth it. The boat ride JJ gave use was awesome, we saw several gators. The views can only be experienced in person, pictures won’t do you justice. Highly recommend J&P Creekside Retreat, the hosts (John, Patty, and JJ) were like family and were there for anything you needed. Town was about 10 minutes away for any extras you might need to pick up, otherwise the showers were warm and the bathroom was clean. 10/10

What a great spot! I really enjoy Hipcamping vs larger campgrounds. This host and land is one reason why.
The property is welcoming and not far off the highway. (A bit of highway hum in the distance, but not a deal breaker.) The showers are outside and cold water. They are really meant for rinsing off after a sauna, and yes, there really is a sauna and cold plunge. The restroom is enclosed with ample space and is very clean.
I pitched a small tent on grass next to the gravel site with no issue. And my small dog was welcome to roam off leash.
Brittany was quick to respond to messages and was very welcoming although she was not present during my stay.
I’m definitely returning when back in the area❣️

Serenity Star did not disappoint and host Britney couldn’t have been more welcoming. Our stay of 6 nights was just what we needed. We were weary travelers escaping the cold weather up north and Serenity Star was our safe haven. I highly recommend booking into this place. I will not hesitate to return in the future. This was our first time here and this review is just for the Hideaway. We rented both the Hideaway and Shady Oak for four families, but I’ll review Shady Oak separately.
The Hideaway completely exceeded my expectations. We camp often in Florida and the biggest issue at most campgrounds is noise. There are just so many campers and not everyone respects quiet hours. This place was the total opposite. It’s private property with only four spots and they are very spread out. I have never experienced that level of peace and quiet while camping. We slept so good, even during a cold snap when it dropped to 29 degrees. The trees helped block the wind and made it feel cozy.
The site is tucked into trees with a short walk to the creek. We had three tents and a campfire with plenty of space. The owner was super friendly and responsive. Buy the firewood there. It’s a great deal and so convenient.
The amenities were amazing. The kids loved the trampoline and the silks hanging from the trees. The main area behind the house has lots of inviting seating. Even though all sites were booked, we never saw other campers.
The bathroom has a private outdoor entrance with a flushing toilet and sink. It was always clean and stocked with quality toilet paper, paper towels, and air freshener. The fenced outdoor shower had very hot water.
The guys caught bass in the creek and the dogs roamed freely and were friendly. We didn’t take any pictures because we were too busy having fun!

This was our first time here and this review is just for the Shady Oak. We rented both the Hideaway and Shady Oak for four families, but I’ll do a separate review for the Hideaway.
Shady Oak was amazing. My friends set up their RV here, but honestly, I’d be happy camping with a tent too. It’s tucked among palmettos with big oak trees that give great shade. It’s not right by the creek like the Hideaway, but the creek and bathroom are just a short walk away. The bathroom has its own outdoor entrance with a flushing toilet and sink, and it’s always clean and stocked with quality toilet paper, paper towels, and air freshener.
The site is super spacious and has a larger picnic table, which made it perfect for our group. Like the rest of the property, it’s well maintained with a really inviting main area behind the house—lots of seating, a trampoline, and silks hanging from the trees. Even though all the sites were booked, they’re spread out so much that you barely see other campers, making it peaceful and quiet. Dogs can roam off-leash and the owner’s dog is friendly and barely bothers anyone.
Shady Oak has a totally different vibe from the Hideaway, but I loved it just as much. If we come back, I’d be happy staying at either spot. Both are fantastic and perfect if you want a private, relaxing camping experience.
They sell firewood at such a good deal, I wouldn't even bring your own. Buy it from them.

We enjoyed camping at J and P Retreat. The entire area was well kept. One can tell the owner takes pride in his property. The host was welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed the privacy. However. There is a play area for children plus other things available for a family. We will stay again. Easy 10 ++ rating.

This property is tucked along side a creek and very near a public park. The signage and vegetation give Maragaritaville vibes, but in a cozy campy way. I appreciated the spacious sites and the privacy provided between. The deck along the water is great for lounging and the grounds are ample enough for a stroll. The bathroom is very clean and indoor, with a toilet and sink. The single shower is outdoor with the bonus of hot water. From my site you will hear road noise during the day. The location is removed from city life, but a 10 min drive will get you to a grocery store and gas station. John was an attentive and friendly host. I would stay again if in the area.
