The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

Frank Page purchased the Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort & Campground in 2008 which included the original seven acres of the lower portion of the Rendezvous. At that time there were only a few buildings and the primitive campground area. Frank started cleaning the area and stabilizing all the buildings. In 2009 another 20 acres was purchased, which is now considered the upper area of the Rendezvous. In 2010, another seven acres were added to the property. Frank planned and constructed the Upper Rendezvous area which was completed in 2012 and added 136 RV sites as well as the dog park, barn and pigeon coop. The dog park has five sections, for both small and large dogs, with ample room to run. Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort & Campground Pool Frank began raising pigeons in 2012. The first pigeons purchased were homing pigeons, which started the Pigeon Races that are still a fun, family favorite event on Saturday afternoons. Frank also bought and started raising other pigeons, the Birmingham Roller. Birmingham Rollers are a very popular breed of domesticated pigeons that originated in Birmingham, England, where they were developed via selective breeding for their ability to do rapid backward somersaults while flying. You can often see them flying around the Upper Rendezvous in the mornings and afternoons. These pigeons are used for our weekly Pigeon Races.

Frank Page purchased the Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort & Campground in 2008 which included the original seven acres of the lower portion of the Rendezvous. At that time there were only a few buildings and the primitive campground area. Frank started cleaning the area and stabilizing all the buildings. In 2009 another 20 acres was purchased, which is now considered the upper area of the Rendezvous. In 2010, another seven acres were added to the property. Frank planned and constructed the Upper Rendezvous area which was completed in 2012 and added 136 RV sites as well as the dog park, barn and pigeon coop. The dog park has five sections, for both small and large dogs, with ample room to run. Suwannee River Rendezvous Resort & Campground Pool Frank began raising pigeons in 2012. The first pigeons purchased were homing pigeons, which started the Pigeon Races that are still a fun, family favorite event on Saturday afternoons. Frank also bought and started raising other pigeons, the Birmingham Roller. Birmingham Rollers are a very popular breed of domesticated pigeons that originated in Birmingham, England, where they were developed via selective breeding for their ability to do rapid backward somersaults while flying. You can often see them flying around the Upper Rendezvous in the mornings and afternoons. These pigeons are used for our weekly Pigeon Races.

There is soo much history about the Suwannee River in North Florida! :D It is known that Indians once traveled along these banks and proof has been found from many Arrow Heads and other artifacts being found along the Suwannee River. There are many Springs along the over 240 miles of River as it empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The Suwannee River begins it's journey in the Okefenokee Swamp in South Georgia. Charming and rustic little campsite. Perfect for a tiny group and a few dogs, like how we did. Even though the weather was a bit cloudy and rainy, we still had a great time just enjoying the surrounding nature and walking trails, as well as utilizing the (thoughtfully) pre-chopped firewood to keep warm in the wind. Very private with no disturbances whatsoever. I will say that we could not get the hose (potable water) to work (thankfully brought our own water), but this could have 100% been user error, or just a simple coincidence for us. We still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Would definitely recommend this, very affordable, little secluded getaway. Would love to go back if given the opportunity! Might have to bring a hammock next time to put up between the gorgeous trees they have!

We escaped Black Friday madness by spending the long Thanksgiving weekend at Kim's place. Boy are we glad we did! The site is beautiful, private & secluded, and full of wildlife. There were three generations of us primitive camping here with plenty of room for everyone... 4 vehicles and four tents, no problem. We even managed to launch a kayak down the steep stairway without too much hassle. There was more than plenty of downed firewood available, so It was really cool having two fires going at once! We had the main campfire for sitting around, warming ourselves, and telling stories, and the cook fire off to the side at the "grill station." The camp bathroom was a nice bonus that the girls in our group really appreciated! Although trekking along the river bank here is not recommended for inexperienced hikers (the banks are steep and the cypress knees are a trip hazard), those that do will be rewarded with endless views of high sandy bluffs and peacefully flowing waters that take you back in time. Our only complaint was that the noise from the nearby interstate reminded us that we can't fully escape the steady hum of civilization, but Kim's place still comes pretty close!!

We also have a large tent camping area with 5 tent sites that are covered and have access to power and water. The Radiant Oaks Center is adjacent to the R/V sites and camping area. This facility is used for retreats. R/V's and campers will have access to 2 full bathrooms and fully equipped ped kitchen area with refrigerator stove and microwave, coffeemaker and plenty pots, pans and dishes. The kitchen may have limited access during special events or retreats. There are several fire pits and open fields for frisbee, volley ball, horse shoes, and corn hole games in the camping area. The building also has a large covered outdoor pouch area with lights and fans for rainy days, to hang out. reading, card games, etc. As mentioned earlier, we are on 80+ acres and plenty of room to roam and trails to explore. The city of High Springs and Lake City are each a short drive away have lots of shops, restaurants, and groceries. Feel free to ask us for recommendations. A pet friendly, off leash, dark skies 6 acre slice of paradise in North Florida on the banks of the Suwannee River. In 1990 the State of Florida banned logging within 1,000 feet of the Suwannee River so Southeast Timberlands sold off it's holdings and we were lucky enough to purchase 6 acres and 444 feet of riverfront. A designated "Pristine Scenic Waterway" with very steep banks, the Suwannee is one of the few"wild" rivers left in the United States and can rise over 30 feet to flood stage almost overnight; yet due to its unique topography we can access it no matter how high or low the water. The Forest Service has bought up the surrounding lots, creating a 10 mile Conservation corridor supporting the National Scenic Florida Trail, it's clearly marked footpaths and natural attractions. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevation 20 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. A Waiver of Liability is required by all guests as the Wilderness is an inherently dangerous place. We only offer one accommodation per weekend with a maximum of 8 people, because we only have 1 toilet, so our guests can have the seclusion they desire and be free to enjoy the natural wonder of the woodland experience in any manner they choose.
