Vehicles are not permitted over the berm, which is access to the east side of pond. Walking access only. Please adhere to this requirement. A small wagon is available to transport camping items. Tents are allowed on either west or east side of pond. Trailers and campers are only allowed on the west side of the pond in the mowed grassy area. *For the 2025 season fire requirements and permits are followed. COLORADO WINTER TRAVEL: There is a possibility of snowy roads anytime from September through March. It's such fickle weather. One day can be sunny and 50 degrees and the next day a 6-inch snowfall. Generally, the roads clear up within a day or two of a snowfall so the impact isn't too troublesome. If you rent our place in this time frame, good all season tires are advisable. Our driveway is fairly flat and the county road to the house is plowed often. If there is a snowfall during your stay, we will have the driveway plowed out if we get more than 4 inches of snow and after the snow has stopped falling. If a snowfall lasts more than a single day, we may have it plowed out each day of a snowfall if more than 4 inches accumulate. Use caution during any snowfall as ground can become unexpectedly slippery. Message us if you have any issues.

John is a class act. He was communicative, gracious, hospitable, and patient as my 4- and 6-year old boys experienced their very first night of camping. The guided and knowledgeable astronomy made us feel like we had gotten the most out of the super dark, low light conditions. I think we’ll make a yearly tradition out of this!

We had such a wonderful time at the Observatory at South Park in Black Canyon, CO! John was an outstanding host—warm, welcoming, and an absolute wealth of knowledge about the night sky. Even though the weather was a bit cloudy, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay. John made the experience engaging and informative, and his passion for astronomy really shone through. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, making it the perfect spot to relax and take in the surroundings. We would absolutely recommend this unique experience to anyone visiting the area!
