The following are but a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; cruise the Blue Ridge parkway; pick apples at the Orchard at Altapss; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Tom’s Creek Falls or Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines or Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Sugar and Beech mountains make them each wonderful day-trip destinations as well. We are happy to supply a comprehensive list upon request (including distance, drive time and links with directions) but there is also plenty of exploring to do right at here on site where nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our North Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor.

Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Campground Slow down among the forests and river scenery of Tucker County, West Virginia. Our 36-acre campground has approximately 2,100 feet of Dry Fork River frontage, with wooded campsites, riverfront gathering spots and year-round stays near Parsons and Monongahela National Forest. CHOOSE YOUR STAY Pitch a tent in the forest, gather at a riverfront campsite, or choose a rustic cabin, the Bohemian Bus Retreat, our wood-stove tipi, or RiverCamp Lodge with its two glamping tents. RV1–RV4 offer electric and seasonal water hookups; RV6–RV10 are primitive RV sites without hookups. The former RV5 location is now RiverCamp Lodge. The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end). We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people. We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees. - SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to. - RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response. -BOOKING - If you are interested in booking and / or availability, go to the HIPCAMP BOOKING CALENDAR and enter the dates you are interested in. for the most up to date accurate info on availability. - Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

"Whose woods these are, I think I know".... (Robert Frost) As the seasons roll along, even after 23 years, as I walk through my woods, I often think of Frost's poem. The trees bright with autumn colors, winter snow making all things pure, the dogwoods coming into blossom. Eye candy. Babbling Brook Campground was started when we were in a financial famine. I wasn't sure I was the gal for hosting. It turns out, hosting is a perfect fit for me, and for our land. We started with the treehouse in April of 2018, and it continues to grow into something better each year. We have four sites, Babbling Brook Treehouse, Happy Hillside Camping, The Bird's Nest, and Cozy Cottage Farm Stay. The Cozy Cottage is up at our farm, but you have access to the camp and creek below. Up at the farm, you can be with the livestock. There is no electricity or running water, but that is part of the charm. Come, leave the world behind, have the tree frogs sing you to sleep as the babbling brook flows along the edge of the property.

Nearly four acres close to town and amenities, yet quiet and secluded. Away from any major roads and on quiet nights, the fog horn from the Big River buoy can be heard. Great set up for glamping. We used the fire pit and outside picnic table to hangout and watch the sunset. The interior of the tiny home was great. It had AC, hot plate with a kettle, coffee maker and fridge. The shower pressure was great and the water heated up well. Overall great experience for a quick get away.

Overall we had a great experience! Beautiful location. Loved the coffee house area. The downside, when we arrived we had a bag of trash on our porch, there was food on one of the beds and I know it’s camping but the cabin had a really bad mold smell with some mold on one of the bunk mattress. Porter potties were ok as far as cleanliness goes.

Owner Vince is very accommodating and does a great job of communicating everything you need in advance. He’s also present on site if you need anything. Weekend Trip to Flyte and Sparrow natural interlude

Stunning off grid property! Very communicative host when questions arose. As we drove out to the property, a fire started on a mountain nearby and our host assured us that we were going to be safe. Had a really cool opportunity to watch first responders fight the fire and even had a fire helicopter coming to pick up water out of the lake behind the property owners house. Stayed in the Tiny Blue and it was comfortable, but given the time of year, there wasn’t much of a breeze at night, so it did get extremely hot inside even with the windows open. Had access to a tiny kitchen and compost toilet right next to our site. We were next to a beautiful pond with a nice walking trail going around it. Saw all kinds of birds (lots of quail) muskrats, frogs, dragonflies. Very safe and welcoming place!
