Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There is a porta potty near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you cannot drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles! (We reserve the right to assign you to a different (but equally beautiful) campsite in the case of property maintennance concerns, recent rain or weather conditions etc). You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end). We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people. We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Adam and Shelley, were very accommodating to me when I realized I had reserved the wrong style campsite. Adam was very accommodating and quickly move me to another campsite so I could connect my electrical hook up. This occurred at 10 PM. He’s more than willing to come out of his house twice to get me the appropriate collection. Nice spot great people highly recommend them.

We made a spur of the moment decision to road trip through the Grand Canyon and found this spot was nearby. We snagged the last space a day out and so glad we did. Shelley and Adam responded quickly to my questions and even let us check in early. It was easy to find. We are about 50ft long and had no trouble negotiating getting in and out of our pull thru site. Everything worked great. Adam greeted us shortly after our arrival. Very friendly and accommodating. There was even a gate to access federal land to walk our dog very near our spot. I am not sure how long they have owned the property, but they are clearly investing money and making improvements. It will be interesting to see what the place looks like in the future and what fun they cook up.

We camped at several sites around the island and this one was by far the cleanest and was the only one with beach access. The host was really helpful too. It did seem spendy at first - but I would do it again knowing how clean the bathroom was and how nice it was to have the outdoor kitchen and potable water.

This is a great spot outside of the city! I stayed here two nights with my two cats and we felt safe and comfortable. There is a train that goes by and is pretty loud in the night and during the day. It didn't bother me much but just something to know. I am so happy I found this spot and if I go through KY again, I will be staying here again! Porta potty was super clean and close by. Other than the train, this spot is quiet and so peaceful with the sound and sight of beautiful birds. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking to camp near Louisville!

I loved the tent camping. The land was beautiful and clean. The silo was great , clean and Stocked with fresh clean towels and hot showers. Was a great experience. The weather was a bit wonky but the electric blankets and heater were perfect kept tent warm and cozy. I even got a kitty visitor for an afternoon. Beautiful and pleasant.

This place was seriously undersold in the photos and description! The area was gorgeous, the facilities were much more comfortable and luxurious than I supposed, and we stayed warm in the canvas tent even when the temperature dropped to 11 degrees Fahrenheit. Highly recommended.

Perfect location if you want a spot right on the beach. Very clean and secure area with no issues. When you’re on David’s land, you feel like you own the island, but it’s also a short drive to any restaurant or convenience store., You get the best of both worlds. David was a splendid host, very helpful on arrival and we couldn’t ask for anything better.

Camp is on 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek on the western border and back up through a hemlock forest along south border. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.
