Cosumnes River Somerset Camp

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents23 acres · Grizzly Flats, El Dorado
This land was home to the Miwok, then European and Chinese miners, then a cattle rancher. It was also home to a former nun who quit the dominican order to purchase this land for inner city kids to have a chance to ride, swim, hike and fish. There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We feel certain you will not be disappointed with this beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offers a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit. The swimming is awesome and tons of hiking. Many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting. It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. The recent Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins. It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and at their own risk.

Our farm is home to a whole family of animals and a great foundation for learning techniques to grow your own dreams. We offer campstites, a yurt, and a cabin - so please review listings for specific amenity information.A stream runs Jan. - July but there are plenty of local spots full of rivers, lakes, and all the wine you can drink :) ask for recommendations after booking! Our fire pits have all been replaced with propane fire rings as camp fires are illegal in our area from June thru November. We have also provide enough propane for your stay :)Our guests love it here: "The yurt was so cozy and stocked with everything wr could possibly need. My son and I enjoyed exploring the property during the day. At night we snuggled in front of the wood stove and played with the Lincoln Logs and Roasted or Toasted game. Everything was clean including the outhouse. We would love to stay here again sometime."

Hirst Horse Ranch

7 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Clay, Sacramento
Instagram: HirstRanch TikTok: HirstRanch The price of camping includes any of the following Farm/Ranch experiences you (and any children) would like to do: joining us for feeding animals, collecting eggs, helping to milk the cow. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play. We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and our cows calling. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A large sandbox and Treehouse are available for kids to play in, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding "experience." Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun. We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses. *NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers. A cute little shed-barn has a flush toilet and shower (bring your own towels) for your use. Since we only have 1 restroom, on busy weekends we ask guests to avoid using the shower. Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees). We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station and Mexican restaurant). Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites.
