Really great spot to camp. We went with a group of 6 and had plenty of space. Michel was super kind and a great host. He gave a great recommendation for a swimming hole about a 15 min drive. The winery onsite was great. The flush toilets and potable water were a little further from the campsites than I expected but the port-o-potties next to the sites were very clean and there was handwashing water next to every one. Would definitely return!

The sites themselves are spacious, peaceful, and thoughtfully laid out—perfect for tents and car camping. But what really sets this place apart is the cool art scattered throughout the grounds. Michel was an excellent host. Easy to find and everything was as described. Just the amenities needed. Perfect location as it was just minutes from Murphys and Angels Camp and a short drive to White Pine Lake. What an unforgettable stay at Sierra Circles Sculpture Garden at the historic Brice Station! Tucked away in the peaceful forested hills above Murphys, this place is a whimsical, welcoming haven of creativity and calm. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warmest host (and his equally lovable dog!) who made us feel completely at home. The sculpture garden is unlike anything else—eccentric in the best way, with larger-than-life installations like the 100-foot Sacred Circle, the surreal Glass Henge, and a Stone Stage that feels like it came out of a dream. Every corner offers a new surprise—whether it’s a Chain Henge or a hidden art piece tucked into the trees. We couldn’t stop exploring. Each campsite is its own private gallery—our spot near the steel teepee and a shady oak that kept things cool and tranquil. There’s just something magical about waking up surrounded by both art and nature. What really put it over the top? The wine tasting at Brice Station’s charming tasting room, and the live music concert under the stars. It was the perfect mix of rustic and refined—great wine, amazing vibes, and a backdrop that’s hard to beat. This place is full of soul, art, and joy. Whether you're camping, wandering the sculpture paths, or enjoying a concert with a glass of red in hand, Sierra Circles is a must-visit. We’re already planning our return.

2 nights at Finnon Lake Recreation Area

Lake Finnon is such a pretty lake, perfect for taking out a floaty tube and laying back and taking in the sunshine. The water was warm! Look out for a bald eagle nest. The sounds of the local birds are lovely. The stars at night are surreal. Nicely kept bathrooms with flushing toilets. Only things to be prepared for is the incline of the site, so prep your tent for that downward grade. Also, there isn't much seclusion from neighbors, but everyone we met there were super friendly.

We camped here with six kids under the age of 8, and it was truly magical. The site was clean, well-organized, and super easy to settle into. The artistic installations throughout the property were so unique and fun to explore—like a treasure hunt for all ages. The communal kitchen and showers were functional and convenient, and I have to give a big shoutout to the porta potties—easily the cleanest I’ve seen at any campsite. We loved that it was a quick walk to the winery, where we got to enjoy wine tasting and a summer concert with food trucks—so much fun. The location is also close to town, lakes, hiking, and beautiful big trees, yet still quiet and peaceful at night with respectful campers all around. Best of all, the host was amazing and went out of their way to take the kids on a morning art adventure, which made their whole trip. A truly special place we can’t wait to return to!

This is the best campsite I've ever been to. So unique and spiritually invigorating. My husband and pup came during the summer solstice, and it was absolutely wonderful. All the art installations are a feast for the eyes and mind. Michael is very friendly and told us about on-site events, so we got even more out of the experience. We stayed at site six with the burning man bikes. It was lovely to sit out on the swing in the mornings and evenings. It's also a short distance from a pet-friendly lake. I plan to come back with some friends in the future!

We had such a great time camping in our site. The port a potties were so clean and the handwashing station was wonderful plus to camping. We set up our campsite and strolled over for the music that night live at Brice Station. The other sites near us looked so interesting and were spread out enough to allow privacy amongst guests while also offering a communal area if that is what you seek. Michel came over to ensure we got settled in and we had an amazing chat with him. The space is unique and wonderful. We will be back!!

Awesome hipcamp- the folks up there are a real gem. Michel made sure we had everything we need and has so much knowledge about the property that he’s willing to share! Serendipitously- we scored a concert at their own concert arena under the trees (spectacular) and listened to a great band named Dgiin! So fun. They sold tacos, tons of pies (strawberry rhubarb) omg - so good. Don’t miss the wine tasting and the pottery store! She’ll even give you a tour. A truly unique experience and the campgrounds are gorgeous!

Such an amazing stay and I’m honestly blown away by how much there was to see and do! From unique sculptures tucked into the landscape to beautiful pottery displays, every corner had something special to discover. The summer concert series was such a fun touch — great vibes and great music. They have an organic vineyard on site! But the real standout for me was the walk with Michel. He was incredibly informative, passionate, and brought the entire space to life with his stories and knowledge. Easily my favorite part of the entire trip! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a camping experience that’s full of character, creativity, and connection.

This was our 2nd trip to the Meadows. Very rustic. it is quiet and very relaxing. Close to town so walking is very doable. we had a good dinner at Peters Steak House, it was good, not excellent. However the waitress was a lot of fun and we enjoyed our experience. Juat know when camping at the meadows, the only amentie is the outhouswe.

Welcome to Finnon Lake Recreation Area! Our lovely lake to discover. The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in most parts of California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky. This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station. The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Smoke on the Water Diner, which is open on weekends only 530-622-1060. Horses were fed, watered and swapped here, over 100 years ago. Today, Brice station hosts a ceramics gallery and school, vineyard and tasting room, Blacksmith school, Concert series, Shakespeare performances and Master artist, Michel Olson's, Sierra Circles Sculpture Garden and campground. Born in Berlin, Germany, he has spent much of his life performing, guiding, studying, while travelling and becoming an accomplished artist in wood, stone and iron. Two of his gypsy rigs and several large art installations, are in the meadow next to the forested 6 site campground. Installation include, 100 ft sacred circle, yin/yang, sun dial and calendar. We’re happy to recommend our favorite spots for hiking and swimming. If your trip is taking you farther afield, we’re 2 hours from Yosemite, and 2.5 hours from Lake Tahoe via the less-traveled Highway 4 in warmer months. Or you can can always just relax with a view in the cabin. Learn more about this land: Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers! Please note there is a 2 night minimum on weekends (if overlaps with a Fri or Sat) and a 3 night minimum for holiday weekends. We do our best here to strike a balance between simple amenities and comfort. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway. There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. We have loads of board games and puzzles. The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper. Help yourself to organic coffee and tea! The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone. The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom. We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months. The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels! Guests will need to take their garbage and recycling with them to the local refuse center which is on the way out.
