Weekend Trip to Fern Ridge Flats - Private Camping

We camped with our toddler and had a great stay! The site is really private and surrounded by redwood trees, and it’s a ~15 minute drive to the beach and the Forest of Nisene Marks. The only downside is that there were a lot of mosquitos while we were there, although with bug spray and long sleeves we don’t seem to have gotten bit much.

Such a peaceful and serene retreat. Spent a great weekend here with my boys and will definitely be back. Serves as a great base camp to explore nearby towns and travel to the beach. Also has enough amenities to just kick back on property and enjoy a relaxing day. Marshall and Tanya were amazing hosts!

Weekend Trip to Redwood Paradise Camping

I loved camping on Ruth's land. I was at site 3 poolside and I was right next to the pool and the parking. First time ever camping right next to a pool!! Their place is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, yet was only 15 minutes from Felton and not much more to town. The location was very convenient as I forgot bug spray and had to go grab some at the store which was a quick drive. The property is surprisingly quiet, with the exception of their well pumping water every so often (barely noticeable). Marshall, Ruth's son, was telling me about the cleaning they've done in preparation for the season and it shows. His piano playing is very relaxing too! The rules they had were very reasonable, especially since its just a single mother with her son running this whole thing. Make sure to bring a small table because the sites don't have their own tables—which is something I would recommend to Ruth and Marshall! I can't wait to come again and bring my girlfriend:)

Ruth's place is great! Her son Marshall and the dog Snoopy are fantastic hosts (the coffee on the deck in the morning is a wonderful touch). We had a great time with our two young kids, they loved the trampolines and the swimming pool and we enjoyed relaxing in our very private campsite. We definitely recommend it and we hope to be back soon

Weekend Trip to Fern Ridge Flats - Private Camping

Great spot on private land with gorgeous views! Very secluded even though you are just behind the host's house. Are kids were just old enough (3.5 and 5.5) but any younger would have a hard time staying out of the poison oak and away from the steep hills. Matt was very thoughtful with the amenities that make this spot so easy and comfortable - toilet, spigot, gas fire pit. It's a very peaceful spot bursting with nature that is soothing on both the eyes and ears. So easy to get into town and have a beach day, then come back to camp in the redwoods.

3 nights at Fern Ridge Flats - Private Camping

I loved my stay at fern flats! I got the most amazing sleep, the birds provided beautiful music and it was absolutely quiet at night. I would definitely return. There was construction noise in the mornings though which Matt had zero control over. Hopefully the construction noise will be gone soon. The bottom line is that this place was great!

We loved our stay!! Very well equipped, bathrooms were great, and we ended up needing almost everything in the “everything you forgot” box. Host was very kind and easy to talk to, you just check in with him and then it feels like home! Definitely coming back, definitely recommend it.

Weekend Trip to BANKS RANCH IN THE REDWOODS

This is a super convenient place to get away from it all...but also be 15 min away from Davenport and their convenience store and shops (as well as the coastal beaches). There is lots of space and sun in the meadow spot, and we walked past the creek spot on our hike down to the beautiful creek. The creek was a great place to be able to walk to during the hottest part of the day. Choose the creek site if you really want to camp and just be away from everything (the drive to it would be a mini adventure). Choose the meadow if you want to get in and out easily. It also has some great trees for hanging your hammocks. The whole experience was peaceful and the perfect weekend of camping. Obviously you have to appreciate a camp in/camp out experience (including your own poo), but Doug and Denise made it as easy and convenient as they can. Highly recommend having or renting from them the propane pit during the summer no-burn months.

Stayed for 1 night in a converted SUV with a bed in the back and it was stunning! It had a trash can, picnic table, and a toilet. Only downside is road to get to location is extremely bumpy/dusty so I wouldn’t recommend for low vehicles or big RVs. Would stay again though!

Weekend Trip to May's Luxury Farmstays

This is a beautiful property!! It was so peaceful. We loved all the hens and roosters running around, they were so friendly. The koi pond is so cute with a nice deck and picnic table to eat or relax at. They even provided fish food, so that was cool. We also loved the mixture of rustic and modern in the cabin. There were tons of amenities like heated floors, fancy shower heads, pantry food, fresh eggs, full bar, fully stocked kitchen, and even stuff like swim toys, high chair, and pack n play for kids. I liked that both bedrooms had their own TV. And two full bathrooms was pretty sweet too! Comfy beds. Tons of extra pillows and blankets, even heated blankets. The deck had a fire pit and bbq, and even a sink. We didn’t get a chance to try the outdoor bathtub, but it looked relaxing! My only complaint is the living room furniture could use an update, the recliner part of the chair was broken, and the futon wasn’t the comfiest, but minor issue considering how awesome everything else about the place was. The owners were super accommodating, anything we needed they took care of right away. We felt very welcome there! And we already plan on coming back.

Spot 12 was behind spot 8. There was no marker though. It was closer to the main trail, creek. We had two tents setup. Space became tight. With kids they were going up and down the trail to the creek. We can still see them. As it's slippery they fell a bit. Nothing major. Will not recommend this spot with kids as they may wanna run around. Kids enjoyed a lot though. Lovely place over all. Bathrooms were super clean and you have a shower as well. All well maintained.

From the warm hosts, to the beautiful forested property and amazing views, we had a great experience and will definitely be back! Our tent was thoughtfully decorated and had all the comforts of home. The fresh eggs were a great way to start the day and the view from the fire pit area was an even better way to end a day.

Welcome to the Amaya Creek Redwood Campground! We are deep in the Santa Cruz mountains and it’s rustic so be prepared! The road is all paved but it can be narrow, bumpy and steep in some areas. Be sure to follow our directions to bypass the road closure! There is no cell phone service in some areas. PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a trash service for the campground, we require all campers to PACK OUT THEIR TRASH with them! We have 40 acres of redwood forest and two creeks running through including the Amaya Creek which serves the boundary of our property at the end of Amayak Creek Trail. There’s also a small waterfall off the Amaya Creek Trail, but it may dry out during the summer. Enjoy hiking, creeks and small waterfall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more. Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 FREE hot water shower, utility shed with sink and hot water, and an outdoor amphitheater. The kitchen and washer/dryer is Staff Only not for campers. . Most campsites allow 4-6 guests maximum with 1 car included in the nightly rate. Each additional vehicle is $15 per day and will be added at checkout once you add the correct number of vehicles you will be bringing. Pets are $10 per day, 1 pet per group ONLY. Please add this as an extra at the time of booking, you will see the option to add extras once you begin the checkout process. Dogs must be on leash at all times! Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. No drugs of any kind including marijuana allowed. No loud music allowed. This is a private property so no visitors are allowed, only paid guests. Both our treehouse and yurt listings are unique experiences. They both are adjacent to the Tierra Madre Vineyard Block and have awesome views of the entire Monterey Bay/Pacific Ocean. We are located on 44 acres high atop the Santa Cruz Mountains but close to all the major beaches and Silicon Valley. Please be aware this is camping in nature, along with squirrels, spiders, falling leaves, etc. and nature is not always for everyone. There is a 45ft. ladder to climb to get into the treehouse. The view at sunset is spectacular. Featured on the first page of top Glamping destinations in California, in National Geographic's 50 States, 500 campgrounds. Both sites include a trunk of goodies: Complimentary trunk of goodies that is filled with muffins, mugs, creamer, sugar, coffee, croissants, cards, champagne & wine glasses & wine opener! We acquired the property in 1991, shortly after the Lexington Fire (1985) and Loma Prieta earthquake (1989). At that time, the entire property has degenerated into disrepair, and all the vineyards had been overwhelmed by the wilderness. In 2011, we started the herculean effort of clearing away the wilderness, resurrecting all the vineyards and renovating our home. We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. These are the amenities/facilities you will have free access to: Pool, Pool chairs and umbrellas, Deck area with sunset view, Trampolines, and hammocks. There is not cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas, due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery). In the past we let people cook and eat around the pool but now our whole property is fly infested and I find scattered leftovers on the ground. Thanks for understanding. THERE IS A 1-2 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5! Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger. CHECK OUT OUR NEW LODGING: This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool, and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. I love leaving a great impression of our area. CAMPGROUND GUIDELINES Pack out your trash. Rinse feet before using the pool. No pool toys or floaties. Always supervise kids. Don’t sit on chair edges or pool cover box. Use stumps or your own table for cooking (not ours). Keep the area clean—no food scraps on the ground. No dogs in the pool area; leashes and cleanup required. No eating in rooms or cabin. Check out on the deck. No smoking (vapes only, away from common areas).
