from the hustle and bustle but be close to all the action and have all the creature comforts of home with a camping vibe.
We have one private site with a glamorous A Frame cabin and a modern tiny home and a tiny retro trailer. The site comes as one single package and is exclusive to you and your group!
Nestled on its own private 3-acre redwood and oak forest, leading down to a creek. The site is located just 4 miles (10 min drive ) from Soquel Village and just 5 miles from the beach at Capitola.
The site offers:
- A 20ft modern container home with one queen sofa bed, large screen with
Apple TV, kitchen, patio, fridge, microwave, cooktop,
shower, and toilet.
- A custom, outdoor kitchen, and bar for entertaining with gas BBQ, fridge freezer, sink with hot and cold filtered water, Sonos sound system.
- Large gas fire pit and seating area.
- One A Frame eco cabin with option for one king size day bed OR two singles, A twin mattress can also fit in the cabin when in the two singles configuration. The cabin has electricity, fan and heating for colder nights.
- One very cute retro airstream style 1950's trailer with a twin bed for a couple or one person.

- Onsite you should find all the basic amenities from home

The site looks down into a private and secluded redwood and oak forest with trails for small hikes into the redwood fairy circles or all the way down to the creek.
The glamping site is on a sunny flat area surrounded by steep terrain up to a ridgeline and down to the creek. The creek is accessible although the final route requires a rope down so may not be suitable for everyone.
Within 15-20 min drive you will find almost all major attractions in the Santa Cruz area including The Mistery Spot, Nisene Marks State Forest, Capitola Pier, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and many famous surf breaks from Capitola to The Point, The Hook, Steamer Lane and many more., as well as many amazing mountain bike trails.
There are also several Santa Cruz Mountain wineries to explore in a 3- 5 mile radius. Further afield you will find Monterey Bay Aquarium and the coastal beaches north up to San Francisco Bay ( 1 hour 30 mins north) and down to Big Sur about 1 hour 20 mins south.
We ask all our visitors to be respectful of the environment, our wildlife, and our neighbors. Please drive slowly and respect the quiet times: between 9.30 pm and 8.30 am. We check all our guests in and provide a quick tour. Spend a day at one of the beaches in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Rio Del Mar, Davenport, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, or Carmel and return to your private oasis. Or Explore Silicon Valley from this centrally located parcel.
Kim Son Meditation Center and Mount Madonna Center are approximately 15 minutes away. There are also wonderful wineries throughout the mountains here.
The trip to the site will begin with a three mile drive on a private dirt road. Being on the very top of a mountain brings more seasonality than the surrounding cities. Please be prepared for any kind of extreme weather. Summer: Shade is highly recommended it can get into triple digits. *Spring/fall: Temperatures are generally mild but high winds are possible. *Winter: Typically cold and windy. *During rainy/muddy conditions 4x4/AWD is highly recommended. It is possible for it to get windy, foggy, rainy, hot and sunny, and even sometimes snowy.
Please note: the nearest grocer is 30 minutes from this site. Emergency supplies are available for delivery to your campsite. Cell phone reception is good on most carriers. Pets are allowed. Enjoy your time howling at the moon, star gazing, bird watching/wildlife viewing, or relaxing with your favorite libation.
Don't forget your camera!
Since this is our first year renting our land we have found that August is a high wasp season time in the mountains. We are doing everything humanly possible to hunt down each and every Wasp for your enjoyment. With this in mind we ask you use the provided bug repellent, keep the lid to the trash closed, and do not pour grease anywhere you do not want wasps.

Very much as described.
As with many spots on HipCamp, this isn't really the rustic boonies where you're getting away from it all -- you are essentially camping in a surburban backyard, albeit a very nice backyard with redwood trees and lots of birds, and the placement of the garage between the property and the campsite does make it quite private.
This would be an excellent campsite for families with small children since it has electricity (bring a power strip if you want to plug in multiple devices simultaneously), a handwashing station with (non-potable) water, a propane grill, and even wifi, and is only a 10 minute drive from the grocery store. Matt was very quick and responsive when the propane ran out and we needed a refill.
There are no trails accessible directly from the property, but it's about a 15 minute drive to the Forest of Nisene Marks or to the state beach.

"The view here is unbeatable. Pro-tip: The last few miles of the drive are quite rugged, so take it slow. Though you’ll pass some neighbors on the way, the campsite itself is very private. It’s equipped with a fire pit and surprisingly good cell reception. Make sure to double check your supplies before leaving town, it's a long way back to the store.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved the Haven and if we didn't have to be back in office tomorrow, we would have extended our stay. My girlfriend adored the bath and outside kitchen. Naomi placed rose petals along her pathway so that we could easily locate the bedroom! Their half dozen egg add on, paired very well with our steaks!
We are looking forward to staying at the Haven again!

The site is at the top of the mountain, which was amazing for the view, even on a cloudy day. The site has multiple spots to pitch your tent which is great and they include different windblock options. You're going to literally feel on top of the world.
The drive from the south using highway 152 is gorgeous. The unpaved road was an adventure, take care if there was recent rain but my 2WD mini-suv was fine with light slipping. That said, it's super easy to get to and I want to go again!

Matt was super helpful with setting up the propane for us and communicative! The space was perfect for our 8 person tent (for 4 of us) and our canopy over the picnic table available. The trail on the land and access to the bathroom were a fun little walk away, nothing too challenging. The walk from parking the car with all the material was a little challenging as we packed heavy. We attempted to park on the lower level but it was a little risky so we stayed at the top for the remainder of the trip.

Wood Chips Site 4-7-26
The location was easy to find on Google maps. I chose this location because of its proximity to San Jose (I wanted to take my little granddaughters camping without having a huge drive and it was 20 minutes from home!) I made the reservation 1 week prior; it was fairly easy.
As we drove in, the first thing we saw was the big wreath as a landmark. I reserved the “woodchips campsite” because it looked big enough to fit my large tent and vehicle. We were very glad, because we also had shade under the trees! The location is super-peaceful and a good view, too. We were confused at first because we originally thought our campsite was the picnic table behind the wreath (there was no room for our tent) but then we noticed the white sign identifying our campsite – thank you for that!
The picnic table was large and long but the wood is old and splintery, so I recommend bringing a table cloth and perhaps another cloth to cover the bench part where you sit down.
In the evening, we walked the short distance down to the pond and noticed what might have been another campsite on the side of the dirt road, photo attached.
This is a “no services” location so you must pack out whatever you bring. No toilets, running water, garbage cans / fires allowed but the picnic table was definitely appreciated as we have been to some other Hipcamp locations that did not have that . This place is good if you need a place to sleep. Very Peaceful.

Weekend Trip to Santa Cruz Mountain Camping
A cute, simple retreat space. Located on an open space farm land. There are some shipping containers and spare farm tools/parts around the land and it’s near a road, but the tent still feels tucked away in nature since it is next to nice trees. Easy directions and parking. There are no lanterns or power, so consider bringing a light for the tent. Outhouse is simple but clean, bring spare toilet paper and water if staying for a few days. Bed is super comfy and blankets warm. The sound of nature and cute animal visitors is abundant. Saw turkeys, deer, and many other birds. Enjoyed my stay.

Weekend Trip to Happy Valley Haven
Such a beautiful, thoughtfully curated spot. It felt like we were far from the city but it's just outside of town. Naomi was a great host, very responsive but gave us privacy. Everything was very clean and welcoming. I especially loved cooking breakfast in the morning in the outdoor kitchen and taking a bath under the stars at night. We did the sauna one night and slept so soundly after. It could hardly have been a more perfect romantic weekend for us.
