Weekend Trip to Camp SourBerry (near Yosemite)

Had a great experience at Camp SourBerry! Very nice pull through campsite with trees all around and a small meadow right next to visit. We were visited by some pretty cool wild turkeys on the first day. It is only minutes from town, but it feels like miles away. Easy to get to and find as well. I highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful site, amazing views! Only critic I have is that I wish there was a bit more separation between campsites for optimal privacy but it was not a dealbreaker and would certainly come back again. Hosts were great!

5 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

Site was gorgeous, hookups were some of the best we’ve had (how they were situated). We overlooked the gorgeous natural area and watched the sun set over it each night. Top-notch facilities including very, very clean real working toilets, outdoor showers and more facilities. Great Hipcamp signage! Other items of note - we ate at Tangled Hearts Cafe and highly recommend it for any meal - great fresh, local food. In addition to enjoying Yosemite, we walked one of the paths in the nearby Stanislaus National Forest which allows leashed dogs on trail and loved it. We were really able to relax and enjoy Robb’s property! He is a fantastic, responsive and very knowledgeable host who knows Yosemite intimately! We are already trying to figure out how to come back….

1 night at Camp SourBerry (near Yosemite)

Stayed 2 nights 20 minutes from south entrance to Yosemite. Set up on a hill with mountain views and it was very quiet. The wildflowers were beautiful. Chelsea was quick to reply and checked in to see if we needed anything. As a bonus we got to hold their newborn baby lambs!

Super sweet and interesting place. We appreciated the art installations, open spaces, and history. Extra points for being dog friendly! Everyone was nice and helpful…and there was an air of freedom that’s missing from most state and national park campgrounds. All in all, a great experience and we would recommend to others looking for a place in the area.

Weekend Trip to Gold Wall Ranch & Vineyard

My friends and I stayed here and couldn’t have asked for a better spot. It’s a shady, private spot surrounded by majestic oak trees, just a short walk from the bathroom and the communal area. At night, we were treated to incredible views of the moon and stars. The amenities really made the experience stand out. The availability of electricity and a gas grill in the communal cooking area made prepping meals easy, and the fire pit gave us a cozy spot to gather and stay warm at night. Michelle, our host, was incredibly kind and attentive—she even took the time to personally walk me through the amenities when I arrived after dark. Her hospitality and the care she’s put into the property were evident throughout our stay. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in nature without giving up comfort or convenience.

This campsite & John, the host, was great! If you’re camping as a couple or as a family with kids, this is the perfect place for both. Access to potable water throughout the campground, frequently serviced portapottys, and steaming hot showers. The campground sits on his approximately 800 acres of property with dozens of cows freely roaming right outside the campground enclosure. The best part about this campground is how secluded the campground feels how close it is to a city. The drive to town is 15 minutes more or less, but you don’t feel like you’re that close to a city because it’s so quiet and the only property you see surrounding the area is that of the owners My family and I will definitely be coming back here in the future

I couldn’t recommend staying at Billie’s land more! It is a beautiful property with a lots of privacy and feels very safe. Billie is very inviting and communicative. The shower is lovely, the bathroom is clean and the campsites are very well kept. I hope to go back someday soon!

4 nights at Hidden Falls Yosemite Camp

What a gem this is! We loved our stay in this cozy little cabin. We enjoyed having our coffee & breakfast out on the deck each morning while listening to the birds. Simply magical. Bath house is definitely a little drive down the road. It’s really too long & steep to walk it. Just a heads up. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & highly recommend!

Located a couple of minutes outside of the gold rush town of Columbia, Squirel rock is a gem of a campsite. it’s possibly the nicest private camping you can find anywhere! The site is impeccably maintained and Julie has thought of just about every creature comfort one would need when RV camping.

3 nights at Yosemite Southgate Campground *OYBC

The land was beautiful, easy to find and the porta-potties were very clean (my wife was very appreciative). We stayed at site 3, which had a fire pit, table and a cooking grate for the fire. All in very good condition. They aren’t exaggerating when they specify 4WD vehicles to access the sites. Site 3 would have been a back in only site for us (1,000 point turn, on a slope, with a drop-off on the other side) had site 2 been occupied. Tight, but do-able in a full size truck as this is how we accessed the site our first night. We had the “mountain” to ourselves for two out of three nights. Even with a neighbor, it was quiet and we felt secluded. If I were to give any recommendation for someone with a larger vehicle, it would be to grab site 1 (at the top of the hill I think) or site 2, near the base of the hill for ease of access.

After a long day of exploration, come back to the campgrounds and relax by the firepit or enjoy a picnic in one of our many picnic areas. Activities in the campground include horseshoes, sand volleyball, sandbox for the kiddos and frisbee golf for all. We pride ourselves on blending nature and family camping in a safe, serene environment. We have one bathhouse with flushing toilets and heated showers; additional portables and vault toilets are located throughout the campground for convenience. Important notes: We are off-grid. There is no electricity in the campground with exception of a small solar powered system to operate our entry gate, guest Wi-Fi and intercom. Outlets are not available for guest use. All water is labeled non-potable. Guests may purify/filter at their discretion. Our campground is home to wildlife. You can minimize unwanted encounters by properly storing food and garbage. We have one central bathhouse with 3 flushing toilets. Sites vary in distance from a short walk to a short drive. The bathhouse has 4 shower stalls in the rear of the building. The bathhouse is closed from 10pm to 8am. The bathhouse does not have electricity or interior lighting. Our Hacienda section ("H" Sites) has vault toilets. Portables are located throughout the campground for your convenience. There is minimal privacy from other campers due to the placement of the sites and the way our trees and vegetation is trimmed for fire resistance. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road.

If you are looking for man made and leveled campsites, then this is not your basecamp. This land is a gorgeous 20 acres that means a lot to us. It's space to find your peace of mind and pitch a tent or hammock, as you would when hiking the backcountry. Aside from complimentary ice water, potty, shower, soaps, sanitizer, sunscreen, first aid, communal fire pit, wood stove and dishwashing area) this is not "glamping". If you are a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit. Guests have 20 acres to find a secluded, or socially distanced spot to pitch camp. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry - Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120. Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds. Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.
