My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Free firewood, local tips on travel and where to hike or what to visit. Or total solitude. Bring your (most non-cattle-chasing breeds) dogs if you wish (males must be neutered). Starlink internet. Walk to the beach of our wild ocean along a no-shoulder country road. We have no visible neighbors, no ambient light or sound. The air is clean and clear and the water is potable from an artesian spring on the property. No electricity at the sites and no generators allowed. (Charge your electronics at the farmhouse.) We offer homemade soup, cobbler, fresh bread, morning coffee as extras; you can order with the booking. The Victorian village of Ferndale is three miles east, as is a beautifully maintained 110-acre town wilderness with hiking trails called Russ Park. A 150-year-old cemetery slopes down a hillside & is filled with 19th century charm and history. Shops and restaurants welcome visitors. There are several bars/a wine bar/and a historic saloon that's as old boy as it was in 1890. A music venue in a restored 19th century church has amazing acoustics and attracts international talent as a top-notch venue (sessions are filmed for PBS) midway between Portland and San Francisco. So, it's a mix of town and country, village and farm, wilderness and bewilderedness. Safe, safe, safe, meaning: you can leave your belongings in your site and when you come back... they're still there :) We welcome the world. One caveat: please arrive before dark. There is no electricity in the campgrounds, and no generators are allowed. You will not be able to reach (or maybe even locate) your site without disturbing others.

Creek color, level, and clarity vary depending on season! The creek is visible from some sites, but not all. Lounge on redwood decks, picnic under the trees, play on the worlds biggest home made giant cylinder chimes in the sound garden or explore the surrounding fruit trees and lush forest paths, tire swings, or a game of horse shoes. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Wishing you a very peaceful and soul refreshing stay at Meadow Farm. Come and allow this natural setting to heal and restore your sense of well-being.

When we retired 13 years ago, we discovered this lovely piece of Paradise in Miranda, located on the famous Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County. Six years ago, we remodeled the basement and created what we call the “Garden Apt”. We have nine apple trees, a cherry tree, a fig tree, and a Concord grape arbor. It’s a 1/4-mile walk into the town of Miranda, where you will find the Miranda Market and gas & electric stations (well-stocked), as well as The Avenue Cafe (loved the Big Foot fries). Next door to the Post Office is The Palace restaurant, famous for the best ribeye steaks in Northern California! The Chimney Tree cafe is 6 miles south of Miranda on The Avenue of the Giants, along the river. There is a lovely trail that leads to what we locals refer to as “The Grove”, which is a beautiful walk in the redwoods just across the road on the Avenue. You can drive to a parking spot to start a walk on this path as well. When viewing the pictures, I’m sure you saw a picture of our dogs, aka our “kids”. Mojo is the grey one, and Karma is the blonde one. We also have a black cat called Magic who would love to have coffee with you in the mornings. Other residents you may see or hear are wild turkeys, quail, squirrels, foxes, and you will hear our neighbor’s chickens and ducks as well. You may also hear some donkeys braying in the distance.

The story starts with the adventure of getting here! Please use any map app to: Holmes, Ca. DO NOT use any map app after this point - IT WILL NOT GET YOU THERE! Once you have made reservations you will receive an email with written directions that must be followed to find this magical place. This property has been in the family since 1922. During a time of no roads just the railroad that passed through, and a river ferry. At the entrance of the property was the town of Skelly, with a post office, train stop, animal corrals and railroad logging spurs. The lands primary use was ranching and timber back then. The flat that the camp ground is located on is the site of the old Larrabee school house after the 1955 flood took out the original school house. The railroad was closed indefinitely in 1996, which changed the entire landscape for this small community. This area is accessible by a low water bridge in the summer months and offers a spot to slip back in time. Today the land is a great example of sustainably harvest redwoods, a project that was established by great grandpa and is still in practice today. The timber surrounds the pastures and farm land that now produces hay. We acquired this land 5 years ago and have spent countless hours restoring the fields, managing the forest and creating a working sustainable environment. It is a very special place and offers peace and quite to those who enjoy the out doors and camping. Just six minutes off the Avenue of the Giants through Holms Flat.

My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Free firewood, local tips on travel and where to hike or what to visit. Or total solitude. Bring your (most non-cattle-chasing breeds) dogs if you wish (males must be neutered). Starlink internet. Walk to the beach of our wild ocean along a no-shoulder country road. We have no visible neighbors, no ambient light or sound. The air is clean and clear and the water is potable from an artesian spring on the property. No electricity at the sites and no generators allowed. (Charge your electronics at the farmhouse.) We offer homemade soup, cobbler, fresh bread, morning coffee as extras; you can order with the booking. The Victorian village of Ferndale is three miles east, as is a beautifully maintained 110-acre town wilderness with hiking trails called Russ Park. A 150-year-old cemetery slopes down a hillside & is filled with 19th century charm and history. Shops and restaurants welcome visitors. There are several bars/a wine bar/and a historic saloon that's as old boy as it was in 1890. A music venue in a restored 19th century church has amazing acoustics and attracts international talent as a top-notch venue (sessions are filmed for PBS) midway between Portland and San Francisco. So, it's a mix of town and country, village and farm, wilderness and bewilderedness. Safe, safe, safe, meaning: you can leave your belongings in your site and when you come back... they're still there :) We welcome the world. One caveat: please arrive before dark. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. When we retired 13 years ago, we discovered this lovely piece of Paradise in Miranda, located on the famous Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County. Six years ago, we remodeled the basement and created what we call the “Garden Apt”. We have nine apple trees, a cherry tree, a fig tree, and a Concord grape arbor. It’s a 1/4-mile walk into the town of Miranda, where you will find the Miranda Market and gas & electric stations (well-stocked), as well as The Avenue Cafe (loved the Big Foot fries). Next door to the Post Office is The Palace restaurant, famous for the best ribeye steaks in Northern California! The Chimney Tree cafe is 6 miles south of Miranda on The Avenue of the Giants, along the river. There is a lovely trail that leads to what we locals refer to as “The Grove”, which is a beautiful walk in the redwoods just across the road on the Avenue. You can drive to a parking spot to start a walk on this path as well. When viewing the pictures, I’m sure you saw a picture of our dogs, aka our “kids”. Mojo is the grey one, and Karma is the blonde one. We also have a black cat called Magic who would love to have coffee with you in the mornings. Other residents you may see or hear are wild turkeys, quail, squirrels, foxes, and you will hear our neighbor’s chickens and ducks as well. You may also hear some donkeys braying in the distance.

Once you have made reservations you will receive an email with written directions that must be followed to find this magical place. This property has been in the family since 1922. During a time of no roads just the railroad that passed through, and a river ferry. At the entrance of the property was the town of Skelly, with a post office, train stop, animal corrals and railroad logging spurs. The lands primary use was ranching and timber back then. The flat that the camp ground is located on is the site of the old Larrabee school house after the 1955 flood took out the original school house. The railroad was closed indefinitely in 1996, which changed the entire landscape for this small community. This area is accessible by a low water bridge in the summer months and offers a spot to slip back in time. Today the land is a great example of sustainably harvest redwoods, a project that was established by great grandpa and is still in practice today. The timber surrounds the pastures and farm land that now produces hay. We acquired this land 5 years ago and have spent countless hours restoring the fields, managing the forest and creating a working sustainable environment. It is a very special place and offers peace and quite to those who enjoy the out doors and camping. Just six minutes off the Avenue of the Giants through Holms Flat.

The Cozy Cabin is tiny and adorable - one of those rare properties that is actually exactly as described in its listing. We brought our dog and had a lovely stay. The bed is very comfortable, the cabin is well insulated, well spaced from other dwellings and campsites, the land around it is beautiful, and there are lots of stars to see on a clear night. Only noteworthy flaw was upon arrival: it was pretty tough to find our way in the dark. Arrive in the daylight if possible until they add clearer night-reflective signage and/or a detailed campsite map!

What a gem, hidden in the tiny hamlet of Petrolia! We stayed in the Garden Cabin which was a small cabin large enough only for a queen-sized bed, mini-fridge, and a couple of shelves for the tea kettle and some bowls. Very charming and perfect for a short stay especially when one has other activities to occupy the day. There is an outdoor shower and clawfoot bathtub with plenty of hot water, and an Adirondack loveseat with a propane fire (no wood fires allowed.)

We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin! The campground is in a great location giving us the opportunity to tour the amazing redwood forests. Clean bathrooms and hot showers were great. The nights got chilly so we made use of the electric heater. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip out to this beautiful, special place.

I'd love to keep this place a secret, but it is the perfect getaway. Beautiful property in the redwoods with a good mix of clearings and coverage. You can buy firewood on-site from a lovely and friendly family, which is a huge plus, and there's a big stinkin' water filter at the water spout. The place is well taken care of. Just don't leave your coffee unattended, the redwoods shed their needles year-round! Anyway, this spot is just what we were looking for. On our second day, we visited the Mendocino Botanical Gardens, just 10 minutes from the campsite. I highly recommend a visit if you stay here for more than one night.

Quiet spot for the RV. Easily fit our 25 foot airstream but disconnected the truck. Nice paved bike trail along the coast right next to Glass Beach. Visited the Schnaubelt Distillery and enjoyed a flight of their liquor and cocktails!

The host was incredibly kind and easy to get a hold of. Our site was a bit smaller than expected (we have a 100lbs dog) and she let us move to a larger site. Everything was clean, porta potties were spotless, and having firewood sold there definitely lightened our load when packing. As for the wood chips- they definitely aren’t flammable. Trust me, I tried using them as kindling and it wouldn’t lite so no worries on that. The wood chips actually gave the site a very clean feeling. The trails are short, and it’s definitely the type of site to hang out and relax. There were a TON of banana slugs which was awesome and the property was less than 10 mins from the town that has an outdoor store in case you forget a blanket like we did! Loved it here, will be coming back!

Weekend Trip to Bigfoot’s Coastal Hideaway
A wonderful campsite with a creek nearby. Huckleberries/Blueberries were there for us to pick but we did agitate some yellow jackets and I was bitten (there was a yellow jacket nest in the trees behind the Ravens Nest). It was a nice site with neighbors a good distance away for privacy. We did encounter many spiders especially under the picnic table, but it was fitting for the season and completely understandable. Overall we had a peaceful time! Definitely recommend setting up camp and venturing to Fort Bragg at least once during your trip, there are many shops and wonderful restaurants to explore. It was a wonderful experience at Bigfoots Coastal Hideaway, we hope to be back soon!

The hosts were so welcoming and the yurt was super cozy. The yurt was heated so it’s a perfect year round stay. You’ll get to enjoy beautiful gardens the entire stay. Also I 10/10 recommend showering at night because you can see the stars above you the entire time. I would definitely stay here again.

Well, we actually got lucky and noone else was camping there besides the host’s family and we were allowed to choose any campground. It was dark when we arrived so we went with the recommendation of Emerald Triangle, which was nice and spacious, potable water was right next to the campsite which was convienient. Shower was pretty clean, good water pressure, took a while for it to get hot but it did. Wifi was available by the main house. And the best part my pups got to roam around freely. We stayed only a night. We walked down the creek in the morning as well which was so pretty. I’d stay again.

Such a relaxing and beautiful campground set inside the center's grounds. Sitting and watching 7 deer eating nearby as well as a family of turkeys. I recommend this place to anyone. The restrooms are also quite nice and extremely clean.

Good Things Farm is an amazing hidden gem in Fort Bragg! Kirsten and Evan were fantastic hosts and have such a beautiful farm where we were able to explore and enjoy all of the beautiful flowers, fruit trees, river spot and so much more. The yurt was such a great place to stay in and was so fun and cozy to stay in after enjoying an evening by the campfire!
