Hawks Hideaway offers 8 campsites suitable for tents of all sizes, many of which can accommodate two or more tents (additional fees may apply). We also have a large, unfurnished teepee, and are working on a cozy, furnished country cottage. (ETA Sept 25). Large trailers and RVs are NOT allowed.
Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

At 6000ft elevation the air is much cleaner and the weather is much cooler, especially in the summer time! We have plenty of space. A well house to fill up your water. There are also outdoor bathrooms, no shower yet, but working on that! We're just a short seven minute drive to the dump station at a local gas station down the road on the Deuce of Clubs and Penrod. We are 14 minutes from a large hospital, 10 minutes from major grocery stores, shopping and restaurants, and many other fun activities. Our location is in a perfect spot to enjoy the blue sky and great weather. Sunrise Ski area is a quick drive too! Pinetop Lakeside are within 10 minutes, Taylor and Snowflake are within 15 to 25 minutes. We hope you visit and continue to keep our environment clean and a chill spot to visit. We are home to a family-friendly honky-tonk, and microbrewery, now open. Please check our Instagram or Facebook @the4sbarn and @greatskycampranch_showlowaz for updates. The well stocked kitchen has all the cookware and utensils you'll need for cooking, a propane range, as well as a cooler for your use (bring ice). A gas barbecue is on site as well. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. If that's not enough check this out:(a) it's just 5 miles to the Arizona Nordic Center for incredible cross country ski trails(b) it's just 18 miles to Snowbowl for chairlift rides or world class skiing(c) it's just 20 miles to the hip town of Flagstaff for fantastic restaurants, golfing, shopping, coffee shops and museums(d) it's just 60 miles to historic Williams with the Bearizona wildlife park and the popular Grand Canyon Railway(e) it's just 55 miles to the world famous Grand Canyon. The property is located approximately 2.1 miles off the main highway down a forest service road. The road is in excellent shape during the summer months. During winter you MUST have a 4WD vehicle to access the property, particularly if there has been a significant snowfall recently. During a snowy period, access may require either cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling to the property from the main highway (approx 2.1 miles). If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter!
Pets must be well behaved and cleaned up after, including excessive animal hair. Leash laws apply to Coconino National Forest. Please do not book the Glamper Cabin if you plan to bring a pet which is known to be aggressive or unpredictable in nature, including breeds or mixed breeds such as pitbulls, rottweilers, bullmastiff and American Bulldog. What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

We tent camped here for 5 nights & absolutely LOVED this site and 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay out this way! We loved it so much we ended up staying an extra night! Tiffany & Gil are amazing and so welcoming! The view of the sunsets and the moon rising over the mesa were incredible! The full kitchen was great & the hot tub was added bonus after hiking all day. We visited Zion, Bryce Canyon, North Rim Grand Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Red Cliffs National Conservation Park, Snow Canyon State Park & Gooseberry Mesa which were all within/less than 90min away! We tent camped here for 5 nights & absolutely LOVED this site and 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay out this way! We loved it so much we ended up staying an extra night! Tiffany & Gil are amazing and so welcoming! The view of the sunsets and the moon rising over the mesa were incredible! The full kitchen was great & the hot tub was added bonus after hiking all day. We visited Zion, Bryce Canyon, North Rim Grand Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Red Cliffs National Conservation Park, Snow Canyon State Park & Gooseberry Mesa which were all less than 90min away. So glad we decided to stay here and will hopefully be back one day but we definitely will have memories we made while here forever!

Regardless of the direction you are looking, you are seeing beautiful views. I had forgotten what quiet sounds like. Lots of privacy, sites are spacious. Everything is as described or better. Clifford is also very easy to work with. My trip was delayed a day… no problem.

The taproom was great, excellent microbrews they had Kolsch, a light pilsner an amber and an IPA when I was there. Tried the Kolsch and the light which were both excellent. If you like pool they have 3 very good tables. The taproom closes early like 9 I think, so it's not noisy while your trying to sleep. They are close to some road traffic but it's not terribly busy with traffic noise,

We absolutely loved our stay at Land Beyond Zion! From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much care and thought Tiffany and Gil have put into creating such a special place. The property is truly beautiful, well-maintained, and surrounded by incredible scenery.
Tiffany and Gil were so kind, welcoming, and genuinely caring. They made us feel right at home and were wonderful and helpful hosts throughout our stay.
Everything was exceptionally clean and well kept, and the campsite had every amenity we could have hoped for and then some. You can tell they take great pride in their property, and it shows in every detail!
This was easily one of our favorite camping stays, and we would love to come back again someday. Thank you, Tiffany and Gil, for sharing your beautiful space with us!!

Donna's land is wonderful, as is she (and her dogs!) Lots of petrified wood and quartz just laying around, and the sunsets are absolutely gorgeous! The sites are private but not far from the road. Getting there involves a few miles of dirt road, but 2 wheel drive easily accessible.
Donna met me at the gate and showed me to my campsite. She returned a few hours later to help me out with a car issue (blown fuse) and gave me some tips on what to see on her land. I wasn't sure how my german shepherd would react to her dogs - she has 6 - but all are friendly. And they all got on famously with my Danica! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back when it cools off - it was still about 15° cooler than Phoenix! Also, Danica saw her first horse. She wasn't sure what to think, but at least she had the opportunity! Thank you, Donna!

These are lovely quiet camp sites with hookups and a great view. And big trailer friendly! We had horses with us and the covered pens are safe and sturdy with incredible water pressure. We had dogs with us and they were welcomed. And the kids had a great time climbing the hills. We loved our stay and will absolutely come back when we are in the area!

This is a great location with an amazing host. The property was easy to navigate, peaceful and everything we wanted for our trip. It was close to Sedona and Jerome making it an ideal spot for base camp as we adventured.
The goats and Alpacas were so cool and the fresh eggs we purchased were incredible.

Wish we had more time. Vicky’s was a nice secluded spot that begged for more exploration and sadly it was just a quick layover for us. It’s not far from Verde Village which was such a cute town. We wish we had more time.
We have a Winnebago Boldt Sprinter van and had no problems, but I don’t think I’d want to try it in anything much bigger than that.
