The Farnch: A developing Destination Farm Come have a picnic under a tree, spend a few hours and go for a hike in Hudson Highland Gateway Park, a Historic 352-acre park offering hiking, birding, cross-country skiing, fishing & snowshoeing. He have rods and tackle to rent or buy if you don’t have your own. If you’re having a really great time and the kids just don’t want to leave, join us for an evening of sleeping under the stars in the forest at one of our campsites. We also host local Scout Groups, and Appellation Trail hikers. Hikers know that we are located about 2 miles south of the route 9 trail crossing at the Appalachian Market and offer pick up and drop off service from there on weekends. Hudson Valley is a wonderful 4 season go to location and being about an hour away from New York City you won’t spend hours in the car before being able to stretch your legs.

Overview

Looking into Long Island Sound with a view of New York’s skyline, Bridgeport is the perfect day trip for campers headed to New England. There isn’t any camping within the city, but the nearby town of Weston has a campground for RVs and tents with amenities like picnic tables, wifi, and toilets. Roughly 30 minutes north, find more campsites in Kettletown State Park. Picnic tables, grill-top fire rings, dump stations, and bathrooms will keep the whole crew comfortable. Take the Crest Trail for views of Lake Zoar before zipping off to Hammonasset Beach State Park, an hour east of Bridgeport along the coastline. Campers can hike Moraine Trail and build sandcastles on the beach in July. Rustic cabin rentals with basic furnishings are available for rent, and campgrounds in the area offer tent and RV campsites with access to bathrooms, showers, full hookups, and dump stations—just be wary of winter closures from late September until late May.
