The best vintage trailers in Ontario

Camping in Ontario is all about lakes and forests, with easy access to nature in the province’s national and provincial parks, wine-making regions, and lakeside cottage communities. Though home to Canada’s national capital, (Ottawa), its largest city (Toronto), and its most popular tourist attraction (Niagara Falls), Ontario’s location bordering four of the five Great Lakes means sandy beaches, thousands of islands, remote canoe routes, and miles of wooded trails to explore. The province’s peak outdoor season runs from May to October before the area settles into dramatic autumn foliage and snowy winters.

Two of Ontario’s national parks, Bruce Peninsula and Georgian Bay Islands, as well as the Fathom Five National Marine Conservation Area, are located along the Georgian Bay section of Lake Huron, northwest of Toronto. Other area highlights include Killarney and Killbear provincial parks, known for hiking and camping, and Manitoulin Island, the world’s largest freshwater island, where several indigenous communities welcome visitors interested in learning about their cultures.

This immense region follows the shores of Lake Superior and stretches north through the deep woods to Hudson Bay. From the gateway cities of Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, campers can explore remote Pukaskwa National Park, as well as Sleeping Giant and Lake Superior provincial parks along the shores of the largest Great Lake.

East of Toronto and hugging Lake Ontario, Prince Edward County is popular among campers and glampers who love good food or want to laze on the beaches and sand dunes of Sandbanks Provincial Park. Continuing east along the St. Lawrence River (which divides Canada from the United States), you can paddle from island to island or set up camp in Thousand Islands National Park. Major cities in eastern Ontario are Ottawa, Canada’s national capital, and Kingston, where the Rideau Canal meets the St. Lawrence.

Ontario’s southwest corner borders both Lake Erie and Lake Huron, between Toronto and Detroit. You can visit Canada’s southernmost point in Point Pelee National Park and tour the small wineries that cluster around the towns of Kingsville and Leamington. The popular beaches and campsites of Pinery Provincial Park are along Lake Huron’s southern shore.

Encompassing the city of Toronto, Rouge National Urban Park, the Niagara region, and the Muskoka Lakes—known as Ontario’s “cottage country”—Central Ontario also includes Algonquin Provincial Park, one of Ontario’s most popular canoe camping areas, and Bon Echo Provincial Park, where more than 250 indigenous pictographs are preserved on rocky cliffs.

Welcome to Beautiful Field Farm, our family-run orchard and homestead tucked into the quiet forests of Naughton, Ontario. This is more than just a place to camp it’s a chance to slow down, breathe fresh air, and reconnect with nature in a peaceful farm setting. We’ve created a mix of secluded forest tent clearings and private RV pads, each surrounded by trees for privacy and space. This is primitive, off-grid camping no hookups, no running water, and no electricity just the essentials and the stars overhead. For your comfort, we’ve built a brand-new farm outhouse, kept clean and simple. Our guests love to spend time at the farm’s private pond, a half-acre oasis tucked at the back of the property. There are multiple hammocks set up around the water, perfect for reading, napping, or watching the dragonflies dance across the surface. On warm days, bring your chair or blanket and relax by the pond’s edge, or wander the orchard trails and forest paths that weave across the land. In season, you’ll find life on the farm buzzing with energy fruit trees heavy with apples, bees working the blossoms, and cider pressing in the fall. We often have farm-fresh produce, firewood bundles, and local treats available for guests to purchase, so you can enjoy true farm-to-table experiences right on site. At night, the property comes alive in its own way: clear, dark skies for stargazing, the crackle of campfires in the distance, and the soft rustle of the forest. This is simple, authentic camping the kind that reminds you how good life feels when you unplug. Life on the farm is never lonely; we share our space with a few friendly barn cats who love to wander the orchard and lounge in the sunshine. They’re curious and social, often coming by to say hello to campers. We also keep a lively chicken coop on the farm. Expect to hear the roosters crowing at sunrise a true country alarm clock! We have 4.4 acres of land on a spring fed lake. (Even though it is spring fed the water is warm for swimming.) We are located between Trout Creek and Port Loring on Hwy 522. We have 3 vintage trailers, each with a slightly different experience. Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing. We also have a 4 person paddle boat. Bring water shoes if you have them. The water edge is in it's natural state. The trailers come fully equipped. You need only bring food, bedding and 1 pound propane tanks to use the small barbeque. Our property is off the electric grid. The trailers have fridges and stoves powered by propane and the lights are powered by battery recharged with solar panels. We do not at this time have running water and the toilets are clean outhouses - not stinky and disgusting. We have a couple of small docks and you can fish right from the dock. If you are a bird lover you will enjoy watching the blue heron and hearing the loons and frogs sing at night. This property often experiences spectacular sun sets. We have fire pits, books and board games.

We have cared for this land for the last 20 years - and our ancestors did before us. We initially lived here on the land in a tiny home (before tiny homes existed?!) It is called "The Tamarack Shack" and is a 10x10 cabin that we built by hand. We lived there - without power or water for 3 years. It's still standing, but is home to many critters now. Prior to our stewardship - this 100 acres was a sheep and cattle farm - heavily overgrazed and needing some loving. We've spent the last 2 decades planting 25 000 trees, digging 3 ponds and erecting fencing and out buildings for 15 acres of pasture. We are excited and honoured to share our deep love of this place with you. Come for a visit and fall in love too!
