This property felt very private for us! There’s a 2 minute walk down the trail to the tent area, pretty easy to get your stuff there if you’re used to trail walking. Lots of fresh fruit and granola bars provided for us! The toilet is very simple but clean and fine for a couple nights. We brought all the necessary camping equipment minus a tent and sleeping bags. You will need outdoor chairs, a stove, cooler and other camping essentials. This was pretty obvious given the description and reviews so don’t be shocked when it’s just a bed and table! Overall we really liked the area and the tent and bedding were clean and very comfortable, had a great stay!

Mielle was a wonderful host. The land was peaceful and lush. The bell tent was clean and spacious. A few things for future visitors: The forest is quite humid so the tent has a slight musk smell. We had one exceptionally hot day during our stay and that dried out the tent enough to clear the air but otherwise it is a bit damp. Not unpleasant enough to bother us but slightly noticeable. Also it is definitely an off-grid tent which is wonderful for those who want to unplug. The host is also very generous and gave us access to a trailer they have on the property that had a flush toilet, electricity and running water. Some things to note: the tent site is a short distance from the parking so you’ll have to pack in and pack out. There is a ravine in the middle so if you are bringing in a lot of supplies for camping, this will take some time. This site is better suited as an eco-bed and breakfast than a camping site as there is no picnic table, which makes cooking and food preparation challenging. Still, as campers we made it work. Also worth noting, the composting toilet is actually a bucket but as mentioned, our host gave us access to a trailer with a flush toilet. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend this site to others.

What a dream come true! I was looking for a nature getaway that was in the elements & also alluring // smooth on logistics (without the noise of public campgrounds, *ideally*). Mielle’s lotus tent in the cedar forest was *MUCH* more than we bargained for! I adore cooking while camping (food always tastes best outside), so we brought a camp stove & filled the cooler with delicious local eats, yet didn’t have to worry about setting up a tent —> instead had a glorious, clean, spacious yurt to kick our feet up on a comfortable bed after exploring so many gems & adventures Salt Spring Island has to offer! Mielle was a -very kind & gracious- host.. there was fresh fruits & snacks upon arrival, clean drinking water, as well as an incredible surprise greeting from her 3yr old Bernese Mountain dog who brightened our stay beyond measure :D Can’t recommend this place enough; hope to be back some day!

We had a nice time with our doggie at Mielle's place. The tent was large enough to spread out and the bed was comfortable. There was filtered water and fresh fruits/granola bars available on the table. We used this place to explore the parks and trails around and it was amazing. It is a simple, convenient, private option to spend a few days on Salt spring during summertime when you don't want to go camping and are pretty minimalist.

Spacious yurt in a private forested area, great value for your money! Tent was clean and well maintained. Bit of a walk from the parking spot, probably 200 meters, so just be aware if you have a lot of stuff. Bridge was still under construction and a tad sketchy but held up okay. Compostable toilet on site was clean and wood shavings were provided. Only thing it's missing is an outdoor seating/cooking spot so bring camping chairs, we just put our camping stove on the ground but it isn't very flat. Overall had a nice stay!

We are situated on a 1.5 acre plot, set amidst rural surroundings. It is a very quiet and peaceful community set on the shores of the lake and surrounded by magnificent trees and greenery. There is limited bus service about a 20 minute walk away so a car is recommended. We are about a 25 minute drive away from Sidney, where most people will arrive by plane or ferry from the mainland, and also about 25 minutes away from downtown Victoria. The driveway from the street up to the front of our house is a paved sloped driveway and from there the access to the camping site is a sloped and curving dirt road. You don’t need a four-wheel-drive to get up it. We just want to be sure you are aware. The area itself is a level piece of ground to the side of our house. It is approximately 30 ' X 30 ', big enough for a small camper van and a tent. Please note it’s not a camping space like you would find in a provincial park. There’s no picnic bench or fire pit. In any case open flames are not allowed. Portable propane powered camping stoves are fine. We can supply a couple of plastic chairs and a small cocktail sized table. The facilities are comprised of a toilet in a small room in our basement and a utility sink just outside, accessed through the sunroom and down the back stairs. Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash or otherwise kept under control and not allowed to run loose. We have three cats ourselves, and they have access to the sunroom. We are just letting you know in case you are allergic. Also, we might occasionally sit in the sunroom ourselves and we don't mind you passing through on your way to and from the facilities, if you don't mind us being in there on occasion. There is no bath or shower available. You are advised to bring your own face and/or hand towels if needed. You also need to be prepared to take away your own recycling, garbage and organics.

We are located on the edge of the wilderness just 30 minutes north of Victoria. Our camping area is very quiet and private. We are next to a spring fed lake that contains trout and small mouth bass and it is great for swimming during the summer months. There are no motor boats permitted on the lake, however it is perfect for paddle boards, floaties and kayaks. There are several walking trails throughout our 10 acre property and the Trans Canada Trail is just minutes away. We have a large lawn for playing frisbee or bocce ball and a corn hole pitch (also known as beanbag toss). There is a fire pit, pinic table, 2 patios with tables, chairs and umbrellas and a pit toilet. A sink and potable water are also available. We are situated in forested land on the edge of the wilderness. There is deer, bear, cougar, beaver, martins and an abundance of birds in the area. This is a great location for those hiking or biking the Trans-Canada Trail. Adults and small dogs only. Currently our sites are only available on weekdays and is unavailable from November to the end of April.

The Camping Meadow} The meadow is a 1/2 acre fully-fenced, flat forest dell. There is a water spigot and an electrical outlet. It can host up to 3 tents. It is tent camping only - no vehicles allowed in the meadow. West Saanich Road can be a bit loud at night in the summer. If you have sensitive hearing, we encourage earplugs and/or camping at the farthest west end of the meadow. {2. Car Camping} The Cedar Grove is a private camp site with room for a regular vehicle (not an RV) and a tent. It is our only spot where you may camp next to your vehicle. {3. The Barn Loft Guest Suite} The Barn Loft Guest Suite is a beautiful restored hay loft with a double bed, a pull-out sofa, a kitchenette, and a living room and dining area. It is equipped with a composting toilet. Those staying at the Loft can also use the shared farm washroom. {Shared Washroom} The washroom is the shared washroom inside the farmhouse on the ground/basement floor, with a flush toilet and luxury shower. It is a short walk from the camping meadow, inside the heritage farmhouse. Please note that while inside the farmhouse basement, only the washroom is available for public use. Entering other areas of the basement is prohibited, as these are private living spaces. {Farm Fun} We have five horses, a tiny pony, chickens, a few goats and a flock of sheep. You are welcome to respectfully meet the animals with us - it is not permitted to meet the animals without a guide. DM us if you want to say hi to the animals and we will arrange a time. This is a 5 acre property with multiple houses. I built a campsite that is about 200ft from the house, so it is close, but private. Sea to Sea regional park is one block away for amazing hiking and mountain biking opportunities. This site is a decent size, but a tight turn into it. We have gotten a tent trailer in there...it was a just tight! Black-Bears are on property year-round. www.bearwise.org please secure all attractants. Porta Potti Rental is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. It's available for a flat 15$ fee. Please empty and clean it when finished. If needed, we can provide Electricity via extension cord. Drinking water tap on site . ONLY FRIENDLY PETS WELCOME! We have a couple of dogs and children free-ranging on our property.
