Nestle into the forest at the Island Roost. Tucked into the woods with convenient, walkable amenities, Island Roost offers guests a tranquil forest, wetland trails, and a central location on six of Mayne Island’s beautiful acres. 3 sites available - RV site with power and water hookup, forest tent site, and walk-in forest glade site (under construction). Shared outhouse and forest cold shower. Your base camp is only 15 minutes walking to the base of Mount Parke for excellent hiking, plus the local coffee truck, brewery, restaurant, bookstore, grocery store, liquor store, post office, library, water’s edge and float plane dock. 10 minutes driving gets you anywhere else on this tiny island with only 1300 year round residents. Small yet mighty, on Mayne you'll find lots of music, a summertime Saturday market and thrift store, artist studios, beautiful beaches, great hikes, and a place to slow the folk down. Because we love our island: • Strict fire ban in effect June 1-Oct 1. • A drought-prone island means we are careful with our use of water, especially in summer months. • Pack it in, pack it out - please take your garbage and recyclables with you for proper disposal.

The Orpington, our forest camp site, is tucked into a beautiful cedar forest. Beyond the forest is a field where we have a small hobby farm with vegetables and laying hens (eggs are available for purchase). This site has drive-up access and a large area for a tent. Shared outdoor solar shower and pit toilet are just a few steps away, near the tiny home. Orpingtons are a large, cozy type of hen - just like this campsite.

Wyandotte - RV/Camp Site

The Wyandotte, our RV or tent spot, has a single 30A hookup and non-potable water access. There is a slight slope on this site so use of stabilizers and blocking is advised. Suited for RVs under 25' for ease of parking, or tents. Communal outhouse and outdoor shower are a two minute walk down the hill. Close by the road edge, this site offers easy access to Mount Parke and a quick walk down the hill to the ocean and 'town' amenities. A power shed is in view, and other visitors may use the driveway to head down to other sites as this is the first stop on the driveway. A Wyandotte is a medium sized, beautifully dappled hen - just like this site.

Orpington - Forest Camp Site
This was a lovely woodland site to pitch my tent in for three nights while bikepacking. Shady, quiet, peaceful. I appreciated the refreshing outdoor shower, with the view over ferns. The outhouse (cute, clean) and shower were close to the site. Sandra was friendly and the eggs were delicious! Location was perfect. I will definitely go again.

We enjoyed our one night stay at this lovely secluded campsite in the forest! Andrew was so welcoming and kind and we loved chatting with him. We appreciated the thoughtful touches like the solar lights. The outdoor shower is super cool - we weren't brave enough to use it on this chilly weekend, but it would be sooo lovely and refreshing in summer time! The Orpington campsite is situated a good distance away from the house and other sites, so it feels secluded and private. We slept really well on the soft ground. Overall, would recommend and would definitely stay here again in the summer time :)

Nicely spaced out camp sites. Loved the tucked away forest camp site! Best part was when we took a stroll through the forest to the village at dusk and the deers were running by. It was like out of a fairytale!

We enjoyed our stay. The campsite was spacious, with clean water available for washing and a well-maintained outhouse. One of the highlights was waking up to deer wandering through the ferns in the morning—a magical touch to an already peaceful setting. Thank you, Sandra, for providing a welcoming place to camp!

Orpington - Forest Camp Site
The land here is very beautiful with tall trees and very lush ferns. Love waking to the ravens and various birds call out in the morning. Cute outbuildings (shower/outhouse) are well kept. Also love hearing the chickens and rooster. Location is great if you want to walk "to town" for coffee, food, groceries, or little beach.

This campsite was fantastic - a peaceful, tucked-away spot in the woods just a short walk from the town centre. It had everything we needed: a picnic table, a shower, an outhouse, and even a solar light for nighttime. Sandra and her partner Andrew were incredibly warm and welcoming - it was a pleasure chatting with them, and they kindly offered their help if we needed anything. Highly recommend this gem of a place!

We had a great time. Sandra and Andrew were great and accommodating hosts. The outhouse and shower were great as well, an experience. Location was great as well, walking distance to town. Loved it!
