Jim was an excellent host and communicated very well before our arrival for what to expect. He also met us with us as soon as possible to give us a tour of the property and make sure we had everything we needed. He also gave great recommendations for exploring the island!

Stayed one night at Jim's and everything was perfect. A bit of a steep hill to get to his massive property but the views from his deck were worth it! We had the option to take a warm shower before bed and it was so nice. Jim is a great host that knows how to take care of his guests. 10/10 would stay there again and definitely recommend!!

Jim went above and beyond by responding to all of my messages in a timely manner when we were looking for somewhere to stay at very short notice . He even allowed us to check in early because we had a sizeable travel trailer in tow and had nowhere to safely leave it when we’re were between camping sites.
His property was clean and well maintained and located in a very quiet residential area just minutes from Ganges town. Jim was available to answer any questions we may have had about the area, places to go and sights to see. He has even built a viewing deck next to his home so that his guests can sit and enjoy the view of the ocean .
I’d def recommend staying here to anyone looking for camping on salt spring island.

We had a great stay in our little van on Jim's property. All amenities were as stated and he allows visitors to use his deck with a gorgeous view of mountains and lovely sunset. He made an extra effort with us and other arriving guests to tell us about hikes, bike rides and tips of what to do. This was a wonderful introduction to the Hipcamp community! We would love to stay there again!
I camped in my SUV, while there was also a full blown trailer RV unit and tenters. Maple Tree accomdated all scenarios very well. The campsite was clean and well laid out. Jim was more than a gracious host taking time to give me tips for exploring Salth Spring Island. I would stay there again.

We had a great stay at this Hipcamp. Jim is a great guy and has a nice level cement pad & full hookups - big picnic table -garbage cans, toilet - shower available for a fee & small fridge use & sink outdoors if needed! Short (but steep!) drive from town & a beautiful deck area above the campsites with a view of the water!! Highly recommend. Completely terrific. There are a few camping spots in his yard but they are not “too” close together. Others camping were nice.

Jim's place is great, we are happy we chose this site for our 2 nights on Salt Spring Island. Jim is a friendly host, the RV pad and hookups are excellent, and the location is wonderful. If you are towing a camper or driving an RV, be aware it is a steep climb to get to his place. The view from his viewing platform/deck is your reward for making the climb.

It was a beautiful spot for camping. We spent two days there at the RV site. It was quiet and clean. Jim was really pleasant to talk to and gave us some great tips on where to go to for local attractions. Would definitely come back here.
Jim is a great guy, easy-going and helpful. Site was clean, close to Ganges, had water and power. All ya need for a base of ops if yer exploring the island
We truly enjoyed ourselves at Jim’s Maple Tree camp site…full electric water & a dump site all on top of the butte overlooking the bay near Ganges- the bonus is Jim, what a great guy!
Although we only stayed one night, Jim was super accommodating and very welcoming. He gave us a quick property tour to ensure we could make the most of our stay at Maple Tree. He has an amazing deck that provides stunning views of the gulf.

Jim was a great host, made our first Hipcamp trip a great one! He made us and our doggy feel welcome, gave lots of local tips and was on-hand if we needed anything. Otherwise he left us to ourselves. The site was very peaceful, not a party place if that's what you're looking for, quiet time at 9:30.
Amenities included a portaloo, great fresh mountain water from a tap, power point and shower available for $5 - well worth it! Would stay again and definitely recommend to others.

We camped for 3 nights at Maple Tree and could not have asked for a better experience.
Our campsite was absolutely beautiful, private and had the perfect amount of sun and shade from the large cedars. Jim is a truly fantastic host, kind and welcoming. He really made us feel at home and comfortable there. Jim also made sure we had all the info we needed to have a great time exploring Salt Spring. We also had access to a mini fridge and a sink area which made our stay that much easier and more enjoyable.
Thank you Jim for a wonderful 3 days! We hope to be back.

The views were incredible. You could see all the way down to Mount Baker in Washington State from jims convivial deck. The sites were large and were positioned such that you could easily have privacy but also friendly interactions with other campers if you were so inclined

This was one of the best campsite I’ve been to! So close to everything on Salt Spring Island and really quiet. The host, Jim, is so welcoming and friendly, in a non invasive way. He respects your privacy while checking in here and there to make sure you’re safe and sound!
I camp solo, and this was one of the safest lot I’ve been to in terms of female solo camping. Couldn’t recommend it more.
10/10, I will be back when on Salt Spring Island!

We loved our stay at Maple Tree!
The location to Ganges and quick access to the main road was perfect. The view from the deck was wonderful and Jim was so accommodating.
This was our first time using Hipcamp so it was great to have such a positive experience!
Highly recommended!
Jim's space worked well for us. He's an affable host and easy to communicate with. Gave us all the info we needed.

It was great camping on Jim's land! He was super kind and accommodating with our late check-in. The camping spot is nice and close to town, and has running water, a place to do dishes, and even a mini fridge (which I didn't realize at first!). Would definitely stay there again :)
