Weekend Trip to Raylia Cottage Farm Stay

What a perfect stay! Michele was a lovely host and the cabin was in such a beautiful, peaceful spot. I loved the vibe of the cabin, cosy with the option to make a fire (loved chopping wood), and lots of cosy dvds' and vhs's to watch on the couch. The cabin also had its own privacy (its far enough from the main house & has its own driveway) which was perfect for us. It's located in a super convenient spot too, probably the best part of the island to stay - right next to a few cute shops, coffee carts and a restaurant while still being tucked away in the woods. Also next to a lovely hike. Would highly recommend!!!

Weekend Trip to Red Bell Farm

Stayed at Red Bell Farm and it was pure magic. The private peaceful campsite felt like our own slice of serenity, just a short drive from everyday amenities, with wildlife spotting around every corner and trails begging to be explored straight from the back. An unforgettable escape, all thanks to Gary for opening up such incredible land. Pure joy fireside by the pond, plus a simply equipped shared kitchen that made everything easy. Grateful beyond words, a Hipcamp gem for sure!

Weekend Trip to Sea Change Farm and Nursery

The two sites at the farm are very private. There was so much to look at - ravens, rabbits, deer, and ducks on the pond. We fit two cars and two tents comfortably at elderberry. The hosts were great and very responsive to our questions. We can't wait to visit again!

We definitely recommend bringing your own foldable cooking table if you plan on cooking your own meals outside as there isn’t much flat ground around the cabin to cook on. This was by far the BEST camping site ever! Everything was spotless and very easy to find. The facilities were super clean, especially the toilet, which was incredibly well maintained. The water jugs were very practical, and the site itself was quiet, private, and easy to access. The host was extremely kind and respectful, and he gave us great recommendations for places to visit that turned out to be amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Quiet, getaway with the view of stars each night. Open fire pits and cosy log burner in the tent for the cooler nights. The beds were super comfortable with high grade thread sheets. It was a wonderful experience and we would do it again.

Decourcy Meadows is a peaceful forested site within a short walking distance to a safe local swimming beach. We are an RV-only campsite. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included. Amenities include a picnic table, wifi and a fire ring and some fire wood supplied at no cost. If there is a campfire ban in effect we will provide a propane campfire. The property is about half natural forest and so it's not unusual to see local critters, large and small peeking out! There are several hiking trails in the area and local parks as well. There are 3 artisans on Decourcy Drive. The world-famous Crow and Gate pub is 4 km from here and the historic Wheat Sheaf Hotel (Pub) is about 5 km. Local restaurants and Cafes, Groceries, Pharmacy are 5 km. We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes. Picturesque town of Ladysmith is about 25 minutes south and the very Unique town of Chemainus is 35 minutes and very worth seeing.

This is a 5 acre property with multiple houses. I built a campsite that is about 200ft from the house, so it is close, but private. Sea to Sea regional park is one block away for amazing hiking and mountain biking opportunities. This site is a decent size, but a tight turn into it. We have gotten a tent trailer in there...it was a just tight! Black-Bears are on property year-round. www.bearwise.org please secure all attractants. Porta Potti Rental is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. It's available for a flat 15$ fee. Please empty and clean it when finished. If needed, we can provide Electricity via extension cord. Drinking water tap on site . We affectionately call this place “The Tardis” because its transformation from an RV, gutted into a modern cozy hi tech space with a cozy county feel, an outdoor kitchen / living / dining / hot tub areas in a forest setting. It’s got super high speed Internet, 2 TVs, a faux fireplace. Inside a live edge old growth cedar counter with Italian tile, modern connected features, fireplace, heat pump, flooring and great feel. Private inside a 5 acre estate with grounds and a private forest. Everyone loves this space. Tech wise there is super fast ethernet straight to the unit at around 600 download for zoom calls. There is also a super fast wifi for exclusive mobility, 2 flat screen TVs, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus. The space is really idea for 2 people however there are 2 bunk beds in a smaller space that could accomidate smaller children or other smaller stature adults that don't mind a small bunk bed sleeping area. A lot of remote worker like this place. It's faster and quieter than home surrounded by nature. We've focused on the outdoor area covered and private decks outside giving it the feel of an outdoor living, complete with a new BBQ, outdoor living room / seating area / kitchen. There is a private soft tub for comfy soaks.

About

Created as a provincial park in 1958, Goldstream is close enough to Victoria that a stay offers up urban pleasures as well as the opportunity to immerse yourself in wilderness. Straddling Goldstream River, the park has about 16 kilometres of hiking trails ranging from wheelchair-accessible walks to multi-hour hikes and its famous salmon run occurs between mid-October and early December, attracting thousands of visitors (and eagles). Camping options consist of two group sites and one general campground with 155 sites. There’s also a visitor’s centre, gift shop, and interpretive programming. Goldstream Provincial Park is located on the traditional territory of the WSÁNEĆ (Saanich) people.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Reservations are recommended and available for dates in May to September (group sites from March to October) via BC Parks’ Discover Camping website.
If visiting on weekends or holidays (Canada Day, BC Day, or Labour Day) you’ll want to secure a spot as far in advance of your trip as possible.
During peak season, you may be able to score a first-come, first-served spot, especially mid-week if you show up right after the 11am check-out time.

When to go

Goldstream Provincial Park is open to campers and busy all year-round, though some facilities including hot showers and the interpretive centre may be unavailable in the off-season (November to April). For the best weather, most book between mid-May and mid-September. The salmon run (mid-October to early-December) is another popular time in the park.

Know before you go

Downtown Victoria is 16 kilometres away and well worth checking out.
Public transit from downtown Victoria takes about 50 minutes including a 10-minute walk. Having a car is advised for staying at this park, especially if you plan on exploring the surrounding area.
Goldstream has barrier-free facilities, including a wheelchair-accessible walking trail.
To avoid problems with bears, lock your food in your vehicle at night. Never feed or approach bears.
