Forest Sanctuary

5 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Roberts Creek, BC
Hi. My name is Christian and welcome to my beautiful Forest Sanctuary on the slopes of Mt. Elphinstone in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast. My property is a magical, private nature retreat created in the spirit of love and reverence for the land on which it is built. It is a sanctuary to nurture the body, mind and spirit. A place to come back to One's Self. I have taken a piece of forest and transformed it into a Premium camping experience with pastures, terraces, pathways, a pond and island, level campsites with grass and sand and a communal outdoor pavilion lounge with fully stocked kitchen at your disposal. I have solar showers too. This is a magnificent place to bring the kids, a wonderful place to hang with friends and family, a peaceful place for lovers and a great place to come on your own to remember how awesome and talented you really are. My fully stocked pavilion, kitchen and lounge has all the cookware, dishware and utensils needed to prepare your meal. There is also a BBQ and Coleman stove with propane provided. Drinking water is provided. Firewood is free when campfires are permitted. For bathing I have a solar shower and a little aquifer-fed pond for clean, cold water dips. If you want something a little fancier I have a great little off-grid camping cabin which rents for $135/night. You can ask me about it. My campsite is located in Roberts Creek, British Columbia. Roberts Creek is a peaceful, eclectic, rural community seated between Gibsons and Sechelt, and possesses a stunning blend of beaches, forest, and some of the friendliest people you will come across. A relaxing atmosphere awaits you here, where both your artistic and outdoor adventure self is sure to feel at home. Please note I am 2 kms up a well maintained private gravel road.

Goats and Boats

2 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Parksville, BC
Welcome to Goats and Boats, 40 acres of poplar trees planted in straight(ish) rows about 25 years ago. Since then the alders and the evergreens have started to join the party in a big way. The property is a work in progress with a little more space opened up each year. We don't have a lot for amenities, but we have quiet space in nature and animals to visit on your way to/from the outhouse. If you are wanting quiet spaces in nature, that is what we have. We have some grassy areas for tents and RVs. Pets are welcome, but they need to be leashed in respect for the goats' peace and freedom. We are on a gravel road about 2 km from the popular Coombs market (with goats on the roof!). We are a young-ish professional couple with an ever increasing number of very friendly Nigerian dwarf goats, some rabbits, some ducks and two pigs. The number of animals is subject to vary without notice! So ask us before booking if it's important to you. But there are always goats roaming the yard, rabbits running about daily. Deer show up occasionally. As you can see in the photos, our property is more wild. It is not a manicured park but we do try to take good care of it and we hope you will too. There are a lot of activities in the area including go-karts, hiking in provincial parks (Englishman River Falls Parks, Qualicum River Falls Park). Mt Arrowsmith is a challenging hike about 30 minutes drive away. Cathedral Grove is about 20 minutes away. There is lovely swimming and great beaches at Parksville and Qualicum, and much more.

The best camping near Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

Set on an old farm, the 347-hectare Rathtrevor Provincial Park has long been popular as a picnic site and holiday camping area. Families are drawn to the beach with its shallow water and vast, low-tide sandbar, while the playgrounds, bike track, interpretive programs, and easy walking trails are also popular. Over 250 campsites are split between group sites, walk-in tent sites, and drive-in sites, all of which offer basic amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, and access to hot showers. Rathtrevor Provincial Park is situated within the traditional territory of the Pentlach Band of the Coast Salish people.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for big groups: The group sites are close to the showers and have a picnic shelter and dishwashing station.
  • Best for quiet: The Loop Campground is on the far edge of the park, away from most playgrounds and amenities.
  • Best for tents: The walk-in site is in a grassy field and has a nearby dishwashing station.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Reservations are available through BC Parks’ Discover Camping website and are required for all campsites from May 15 through September.
  2. If visiting weekends or holidays (think Canada Day, BC Day, or Labour Day), you’ll want to secure a spot as far in advance of your trip as possible.
  3. During the off-season from September to May, all campsites are first-come, first-served. These are easiest to get mid-week if you show up right after check-out time (11am).

When to go

Rathtrevor Provincial Park is open for camping year-round, though some services are unavailable outside of the regular May to October season. For the warmest water, visit in July or August (though this will also be the busiest time in the park).

Know before you go

  • This park is barrier-free, with wheelchair access to campsites, showers, the beach, and some walking trails.
  • The nearby communities of Parksville and Qualicum offer museums, shops, and restaurants.
