This is a working farm approx 70% cleared remainder bush. Sub Alpine so the temperature can change quickly and snow, the area has quite a verity of bird and animals. There are currently 5 paddocks available no set campsites you pick your own site near mountain stream or in the bush also available is a self-contained cottage (view our separate listing for Calabash Manager's Cottage). This has 4 bedrooms bathroom, 3 rooms have queen size and 1 has a single, kitchen, heating when required is a slow combustion wood stove very relaxing. There are no amenities for campers, please BYO and leave no trace. There is plenty of branches and wood on the ground for a fire but please no fires when fire bans in place. Dogs are OK but as we are a sheep property they must be well controlled and on a leash and not left to roam. We prefer smaller dogs. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place. Plenty of firewood around to gather your own. If you want it cut it for you then buy some as an extra and add it to your order. Please check with the host on arrival regarding local fire conditions. No set areas for camping - choose when you get here. Suitable for caravans, motor homes, tents. Lots of options! No mobile phone reception if you walk around the paddock you may get a signal, If you need to contact us once you have a booking, contact us via email or landline. Bush camping on 100 acres in the Tinderry Range at about 1400 metres altitude. Seclusion and adventure all within an hour of Canberra and twenty minutes from Michelago and the Monaro highway. Big skies and dark nights for star-gazing are likely; or perhaps you'll be nestled in cloud; or hidden by falling snow. There are numerous tracks with spectacular views around the property for bush walking or mountain bike riding. The tracks are surrounded by sub-alpine flora and fauna (such as wallaby's, wombats, lyrebirds) and nearby in the Tinderry Nature Reserve. Tinderry Range is a rugged range east of the Monaro highway accessed mostly through Michelago or an hour and a half from Braidwood (when dirt roads are reasonable). The range is only around 70km away from the coast, thus enabling a sea mist to often roll over us in the late afternoon. Summer temperatures are a pleasant 6 degrees or so cooler than nearby Canberra. You may choose between a number of options for camping depending on your camping desires and set up. There are numerous tracks around our property or nearby Tinderry Nature Reserve. You may go exploring to find the springs or choose to stick to easy walking tracks that follow the contours. We will provide a map. Tracks are also great for mountain bike riding and exploring the unusual mix of sub-alpine, montane and coastal flora and fauna. There is numerous species of bird life and regular calls from lyre birds. This area has fascinating history with the largest eucalyptus distillery in Australia until the late 1950's and very popular with a number of bushrangers such as the Clarke Brothers who had numerous hideouts. No amenities. BYO camping toilet and leave no trace. Campfires (except on fire ban days or when we advise otherwise) are okay--usually recommended. Normally dry firewood is easy to find, or purchase some from us if you prefer. The exception is the bell tent glamping option,' Tin Can Ridge Glamping' which has a toilet included as well as firewood and shortly its own wood stove! Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot. or gain access to the glamping tent with us escorting you. Camp lightly. No hunting. Do nothing illegal. Take all waste with you. Respect the land, the wildlife and people. Keep the peace. Enjoy.

On clear nights, the stars here are spellbinding. We have many animals here too! View our placid Scottish Galloway cattle (currently with calves!) pat our friendly poddy Cody and grab a photo opportunity. We also have a beautiful horse Ali and her yearling colt diesel, just watch your fingers with him, gelded now but still thinks he’s a stallion. 5 fat Dorper sheep look like running rugs running around. A real country experience! An Angora goat and slashed tracks to access the beautiful 130 acres around the farm. The small village of Michelago is 5km from our property, has the fuel servo and a terrific General Store, which serves great burgers and milkshakes plus much more. 20mins to the town of Bredbo with its own pub is great for counter lunches and dinners. The Town of Cooma, the gateway to the Snowy mountains is a 40 min drive south. Also if you want to go camping with friends and introduce them to the great outdoors and they don’t have the gear ask about our hire service of all things needed to have a great camp, some are listed but more is always available to hire, just send me a message. A large centrally located clearing for your group to gather, with a rustic camp kitchen hut for all-weather cooking and eating. A rustic pit toilet is a short walk away, with handwashing station and views! 2. SNOWGUMS CAMPSITE is a smaller camping area for up to 6 people, on a low forested ridge overlooking Sandhills Creek. Choose from separate mown tent sites and gather in a campfire clearing in protected snowgums forest. A rustic pit toilet is a short walk away. Several kilometres of marked walking trails within the property. Explore the creek line, hike up the mountain to the old stone trig point, walk to the swimming hole on the creek with jetty, picnic area and rowboat. Numerous picnic spots. A swimming dam, jetty, and picnic sites are accessible via marked walking and driving tracks. There are also several kms of walking tracks directly from the campsite along Sandhills Creek and the 'mountain paddock'. Owners live further along the road on the property, and can be contacted if needed. A separate AirBnB house is located on the property; please respect the privacy of fellow guests.

Loved the seclusion, birdlife, walking down to the shack with a bottle of wine to watch the platypus feeding. Stargazing was amazing. Nice that Phil greeted us on arrival. Can be tight in places for large vans and make sure you have your fly repellent. Great experience.

We had an incredible stay at this remote private campsite. The journey in requires a 4x4, but that only adds to the sense of adventure — and the reward at the end is absolutely worth it. The property is stunning, and the host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even providing firewood and a great fire pit setup that made our nights around the fire really special. The campsite itself sits in a peaceful meadow bordered by a small creek, and it honestly feels like your own piece of wilderness. The creek is something truly special — crystal-clear water with beautiful swimming holes that are perfect for cooling off or just relaxing and taking in the scenery. It was one of the highlights of our stay. If you’re looking for privacy, natural beauty, and a host who genuinely cares about your experience, this place is unbeatable. A weekend at the Ridge provided exactly what my wife and I were after. A weekend where we did nothing but relax. The hosts, John and Pippa, were wonderful and very welcoming at their property. The walk with John and the Goats was insightful. John is full of fun facts about the area and, of course, Goats. To our surprise, the walk with the goats was very calming. The camp spot was great with a terrific view of the valley. It had plenty of options as to where you could set up your camp. There was a lo a very well-kept fireplace I would strongly recommend the addition of the Eggs and the bread; they were great. We will definitely be returning, I would say, many times. It was a stunning location. It had one of the clearest rivers I have ever seen. We felt completely secluded in our own private oasis. The kids loved waking up to the sound of the cows mooing on our doorstep. There was plenty of wildlife to view and plenty of space to explore. Anthony gave great direction and also met us at the gate to guide us to the camp-site. He was a great host and even provided plenty of fire wood.

Beautiful spot right by the dam. Flat sites everywhere to choose from. The road into the property was sealed and Dans directions spot on. The gate was a little tight for our 19 foot van but easy if you swing wide as you curve around toward the gateway. We spent 3 nights and loved the wildlife and listening to the frogs at night.

The lake view and the peaceful ambiance at this site are a calming tonic to blow away the city stresses. Lots of space, fairly level sites, relaxing vibe, quiet spot away from any traffic. And plenty of Roos to entertain you. As with most Hipcamps, it's a bit pricey considering there is no power or drinking water, but keep in mind it is not far to Canberra and surrounds, so there is convenience to consider.

Very well kept campsite and gorgeous property. Lynton was a great host, helped us find our way, provided us with an abundance of firewood and then let us do our own thing. Sturdy fire pit can add well-seasoned firewood as an extra. Lovely shade trees and clean clear water that is tidal and great for swimming and some deep holes for fishing.
