The Themeda Farm Campground provides a private off-grid experience on the western bank of the Murrumbidgee River. Relax by the camp fire or take the stairs down to a private beach with multiple swimming and fishing holes. Nature lovers can enjoy the local wildlife that frequent the river or stroll around the 165 acre property. There's also easy access to local attractions including the Namadgi Visitor's Centre, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and popular local walking trails. Located 30 minutes from the southernmost shopping precinct of the ACT, and 15 mins from the historic village of Tharwa.

Pine Forest North is a flat campground of approximately 30m x 30m situated next to a mature stand of pine forest. Suitable for tents, campers and caravans, there is ample room for two vehicles to park. Beautiful views to the north abound, and to the east lies the Murrumbidgee River. Guests can walk to the river as the crow flies through bush (steep) or a 900m road, or drive to within a short walk of the river. You are free to roam our 165 acre property and enjoy the local wildlife. There is a composting toilet on site with a water tank for handwashing and a 12v battery for phone charging. Dogs are welcome, but must remain on leash at all times. Campfires are allowed in the firepit which is located in the centre of the campground when bushfire restrictions allow. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD AS NONE IS TO BE TAKEN FROM THE PROPERTY. The site is accessible via a 900m dirt track. High-clearance vehicles are recommended as there are some small bumps and dips (nothing challenging). (our two ends of the scale at the moment are a Hyundai i30 to a 4wd with a 19 foot high clearance van - both had no problems getting in/out).

Applebox Riverside Cottage

Applebox Cabin provides a cosy off-grid experience on the western bank of the Murrumbidgee River. Relax by the wood fire or take the stairs down to a private beach with multiple swimming and fishing holes. Nature lovers can enjoy the local wildlife that frequent the river from the elevated deck or stroll around the 68 hectare property. There's also easy access to local attractions including the Namadgi Visitor's Centre, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and popular local walking trails. While Applebox Cabin provides an off-the-grid experience, your basic energy needs will be met by gas cooking (BBQ & kitchenette), a hot shower, and plenty of wood for heating. There is a small 12 volt solar system which runs the fridge, lights and a phone charger but laptop charging is restricted to sunny days. Linen, including towels are provided. Perfect for a weekend getaway or to explore the Bush Capital at just 30 mins from the southernmost shopping precinct of the ACT, and 15 mins from the historic village of Tharwa.

We had a fantastic couple of nights camping at Themeda Farm. Being so close to Canberra made it so easy to fit a relaxing trip away into the usual busy life. The site was easy to access, large, and private, with a great fire pit space, and having a picnic table already there was an added bonus. The composting toilet was well set up and incredibly clean. We took a walk down to the river, which was a beautiful spot to fish (unfortunately didn't catch anything). While it is steep with plenty of steps we managed it pretty easily. Even our 6 year old and our labradoodle had no real trouble. We will be back.

We had a great stay at Pine Forest North and would definitely come back again. It’s a beautiful, peaceful setting, with the pine forest providing a stunning backdrop to the campsite. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather, which made the stay even better. The campsite was really well set up and maintained. The composting toilet was exceptionally clean, and the firepit, seating and table and chairs were a really nice added bonus. The walk down to the river wasn’t too bad at all. There are some steep stairs towards the bottom, but everything is well maintained and easy to follow. The river area itself is beautiful and secluded with stunning views. A fantastic private camping spot not too far from Canberra. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Great spot, beautiful views! Toilet was really clean. Hosts were lovely. We even went for a swim in the river. Walk back up the stairs is not for the weak! Purchased some beautiful produce/home made goods. Will definitely be back.

We loved camping here, the views around of the mountains were beautiful and the kids enjoyed visiting the river. The fire pit area was nice and the campsite was spacious and flat. Thanks for having us!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful property! The campsite itself was lovely, and the hosts have added some fantastic touches, having a great picnic table right at the site was a lovely bonus, and the toilet facilities were incredibly clean and amazing. The river is just a short, peaceful wander away, which we thoroughly enjoyed. On top of the gorgeous setting, the hosts are exceptionally lovely and welcoming. Hot tip: Make sure you buy some of their homemade items when you arrive! We picked up some of their jam and hot sauce, and they are absolutely delicious. We had an incredible experience all around. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely picturesque camping site, complete with picnic table, a compost toilet and a fire pit - I didn’t get to use any of those as our stay was just a quick overnighter but I am determined to come back because of just how beautiful the place is. We’ll sign posted to get to the site with directions from Paula - just be weary that if it’s been wet in the area I wouldn’t be too confident with bald tyres on a fwd only corrola but everything else will be totally fine.

This is the second time I’ve been here, it’s unreal. I LOVE that it’s only one site. Beautiful views. The cleanest drop dunny I’ve ever seen. The perfect place to go if you just want to do classic camping - cooking on the fire, reading a book, relaxing. We love it here (the dogs do, too)!

This was a beautiful, peaceful and private site. Lovely views and plenty of space. Compost toilet was clean and non-smelly. We plan to come back as it’s an easy drive from Canberra for a quick night away.

This place was absolutely wonderful. The campsite was easy to get to with the supplied directions. It was well kept and spacious for my 18 foot van. Toilet was super handy, impeccably clean and the solar battery was a nice addition. The fire pit , seats and picnic table were also very handy. The area was peaceful and well kept for a rural property. I will be coming back with my family.

We had a wonderful one night visit at Themada Farm on the June long weekend. It gives you an amazing "off the grid" experience but with the added bonus of 4G and an immaculate compost toilet. Such a pristine, private and pretty spot to set up. Clear, flat even ground perfect for popping up a tent. Has a picnic table, seating around the fire pit, and a grill. BYO fire wood. Light and noise pollution non existent, watching the sun set and the stars rise was an experience I won't forgot. It was easy to find, but the track is rough in spots, but we just slowly cruised through. Would definitely recommend and hopefully we return one day soon.

Themeda Farm was a beautiful & peaceful camp to stay at. Amazing views during the day and stargazing at night around the fire. Loved waking up to see the Roos bounding across the hills. The vibes were immaculate and I am excited to head back there one day to explore some more

Had such a relaxing stay at Themeda that I went back the following week. Sweeping views of the Murrumbidgee corridor provide unforgettable sunrises and sunsets. Backed with pine forest, the site is secluded and protected. The composting toilet is clean and functions well, non-potable water is available from a small tank. No problem accessing campsite in 2wd van.

Great location and very peaceful. The composting drop toilet is very clean and the morning view from the rooftop tent was amazing. Even took a trip down to the river which was even more peaceful though the walk back up proved how unfit we are! Definitely recommend.

beautiful and private spot with great amount of room for us and the dog to set up, and conveniently located close to cbr. the stairs down to the river definitely a struggle with a dog, but we were rewarded for our efforts with some cod! a beautiful spot by the river to spend the afternoon. Can’t wait to come back here 😊

We recently spent a night for the second time camping at this beautiful private theamda farm, and it was honestly one of the most relaxing getaways we’ve had! The setting was peaceful and surrounded by nature, with plenty of space for us and our two dogs to enjoy freely. It felt very secluded and well maintained which made the whole experience even better . One of the highlights was getting to try and bring home some of their homemade jams , honey and pickles absolutely delicious and made with so much care! If you’re looking for a quiet escape from the city, especially with pets, this place is perfect. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a great stay here. Easy access, not far out of town and amazing views. Heaps of space for the kids to be kids! The toilet has to be one of the best composting toilets we’ve used. Thanks Paula for sharing your property with us. We will definitely be back, maybe with family or friends!
