Bush camping on 100 acres in the Tinderry Range at about 1400 metres altitude. Seclusion and adventure all within an hour of Canberra and twenty minutes from Michelago and the Monaro highway. Big skies and dark nights for star-gazing are likely; or perhaps you'll be nestled in cloud; or hidden by falling snow. There are some beautiful bushwalks on the property and nearby in the Tinderry Range. Tinderry Range is a rugged range east of the Monaro highway accessed mostly through Michelago or an hour and a half from Braidwood (when dirt roads are reasonable). The range is only around 70km away from the coast, thus enabling a sea mist to often roll over us in the late afternoon {lovely esp in Summer}. There are numerous tracks around our property. You may go exploring to find the springs or choose to stick to easy walking tracks that follow the contours. We will provide a map. Tracks are also great for mountain bike riding and exploring the unusual mix of sub-alpine, montane and coastal flora and fauna. This area has fascinating history with the largest eucalyptus distillery in Australia until the late 1950's and very popular with a number of bushrangers such as the Clarke Brothers who had numerous hideouts. No amenities. BYO camping toilet and leave no trace. Campfires (except on fire ban days or when we advise otherwise) are okay--usually recommended. Normally dry firewood is easy to find, or purchase some from us if you prefer. Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot. Camp lightly. No hunting. Do nothing illegal. Take all waste with you. Respect the land, the wildlife and people. Keep the peace. Enjoy.

Nowhere (4WD or park & walk)
We had a great time staying at Anna's property. We chose the 'Nowhere' site and they let us explore the area in our 4WD and pick a spot to camp. Lots of wildlife and a lovely view of the valley. The best part was the hosts were amazing. Nothing was too hard and really made us feel at home. It is worth noting that for the 'Nowhere' site there is not much flat land, it's on the side of a hill in dense bushland with some nice clearings. Small tents and swags would be fine finding somewhere, but 4WD camping setups with a larger footprint might not be able to find a workable site. We had a roof tent and 270 awning and ended up needing to do quite a bit of levelling of the vehicle. The '1400' and 'civilisation' sites are much better suited to this type of camping, both having level areas. We loved our stay. Thanks Anna!

Lovely spot for sub Alpine camping
‘1400’ Lovely site with great outlook! Anna & Andrew are super welcoming, friendly and accommodating! Great and prompt communication!! Stayed for 4 nights at the furthest site at 1400 (there are two close to one another). Quite exposed so was windy; we got hit by storms & downpour so the site got very muddy but dried well; Functional fire pit and ordered wood kept us warm; plenty of bush & tracks to explore - our two whippets loved it there! On clear nights the sky was perfect for star gazing! The road to the property & the site is definitely best for 4WDs, we were in SUV, we were ok but 4WD would have done the trip much easier; Lovely spot to experience sub Alpine camping.

Fourteen Hundred
beautiful views
The view from Fourteen Hundred was beautiful. The site was nice and flat and had lots of room . The weather was against us, but we still had fun! I would recommend this site to others Hip Campers.

Fourteen Hundred
Fourteen Hundred - lovely place!
Quiet secluded campsite on top of the ranges - amazing views and wildlife in abundance. Anna and Andrew were perfect hosts, welcoming yet happy to leave us to our own devices after taking us to the site. The site is being improved and was perfect for our camper trailer and 4wd - description was accurate.

Civilisation
Nice quiet spot. We stayed at the close site which was about 200m from the main house, a bit of noise from the dogs and rooster. Lots of wood around for the camp fire which made the cold evening easier. We were surprised by one of the dogs which came up with one of Anna's grand kids going for a mountain bike ride. Wouldn't have been an issue but we had our two dogs aswell and they did not get on.
