This is High Country camping one hour from Canberra. Bordering the Tallaganda National Park, this camping is set on 100 acres of rural land with a sense of remoteness with a sealed road access only 1 km away. This property is not farm. You will only share it with the wildlife that includes numerous kangaroos that come in from the National Park in the evening to feed. The principal camping place (The Park) is situated next the park boundary and provides space for two tents or a tent and camper trailer. The rest of the camping is on “The Range”. This is a perfect place to chill and enjoy the beauty of the countryside which includes stunning sunsets over the Tinderry mountains. If you want to explore there is walking in the park or visits to The Big Hole, the water wheel at Lowden Forest Park and the old mine at Captains Flat. A flush toilet and drinking water is situated external to the cottage on the property (located 120 metres from "The Park" site). Nearest mobile phone reception is at Captains Flat but phone and internet is available at the Abbey.This is camping at its best. We really enjoyed our stay at Abbeybrae! Lynton is good for a chat and gave us some nice dry newspaper to get the fire going along with plenty of wood for the night. The gate is marked 164, with no ‘Abbeybrae’ sign, so don’t let the No Trespassers sign turn you around like it did us. It’s best to drive a sturdy car (SUV, 4WD) but we still managed in a 2WD wagon. We just took it very slow, it’s not as rugged as it looks from the drive way. It is a beautiful, flat, (and private) spot, great to check out wild life and take in the lush, green, paddocks. There is a toilet right up the hill, which is convenient. All in all, great stay and a great price - highly recommend. Thanks Lynton!

Very well kept campsite and gorgeous property. Lynton was a great host, helped us find our way, provided us with an abundance of firewood and then let us do our own thing. It felt moderately private but definitely not as secluded as I hoped for. I would go again if not just to see the abundance of animals and native wildlife that surrounds the property.

My mates and I had a wonderful time at Abbeyrae. It was a beautiful spot nestled up against the National park. Tons of Roos just over the fence. Lynton was a fantastic host, when he found out we were riding in on adventure bikes, he even did some shopping for us and kept it cool in the fridge so we would have some cold beers when we rode in. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Private campsite with Aminities Campsite is secluded and is well suited for someone looking for private spot without other campers. We saw lot of kangaroos around the place. Flush toilet and portable water is available in walking distance. Lynton was very thoughtful and easy to communicate with. Enjoyed the stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Abbeybrae. The site is pretty and quiet with a small creek & next to the national park with Kangaroos, Kookaburras & Wombats. We will definitely come back for a longer stay.

A nice natural setting camp spot tucked away over a hill with a firepit ready. The toilet is just a short walk and was clean. Pay attention to directions on the way in as the road signs are not great nearby. Lots of friendly kangaroos around. Might be good to find out where you are allowed to go for a walk nearby. The host was responsive and very helpful. No reception so enjoy the birds.

Abbeybrae - The Park
This is the second time staying at Lynton's Abbeybrae and this time I brought the whole family in the Jayco Swan and we have a wonderful time - it's so peaceful and quiet, and our kids had tonnes of space to just roam and explore, or sit by the fire and toast marsh mellows. Thanks again Lynton, we'll be back again for sure!!

My son and I had a wonderful Saturday afternoon / evening camping at Abbeybrae - The Park. It's a great site - well set up for a tend or a caravan, firewood ready to go, and so quiet and isolated (yet only an hour from Canberra). Will definitely be back with the rest of the family when we want a quiet retreat. Shoutout to Lynton as well, such a great host and great communicator.

Perfect secluded hideaway

Perfect secluded location less than an hour from Canberra. As there is only one camp spot, you are guaranteed privacy. Its a beautiful location and is relatively easy to get to. Google Maps took me to the property gate with nil issues. I would recommend a 4wd to get to the site as the entrance driveway is quite rocky and would be a challenge for a low 2wd car, especially if it was wet. Site is a mix of natural grass surrounded by bush land on one side and a small grassy hill which serves as the main privacy screen. (over said hill is the flushing toilet and water tank.) Grass is soft underfoot and makes for a great base for any camp setup. Site is large enough for most camping rigs. Fire-pit is in an awesome location with respect to the camp area. Cheap wood from the owner or bring your own. In all, a great place to relax and unwind. Not much to do so its perfect for a relaxing night or two under the stars contemplating why we are here. Will be back for sure.

We loved the privacy and quiet. Only one site perfectly positioned on the property. The sound of the creek, the kookaburras and the lack of internet made for a full reset. Lynton’s directions made finding this peace of paradise easy.

A great spot, very quiet and adjacent to Tallaganda national park. Lynton was really helpful with spot on directions. The flushing toilet was very welcome. Would stay there again.

A simply beautiful little spot. Loved the babbling brook, visits from a wombat and Kangaroos, and our hosts were wonderful. Would definitely recommend a visit and will do so again ourselves.

This is a fantastic place that is easily accessible and with level ground. The surrounds are peaceful, secluded and surrounded only by nature. The fire pit and wood supply is very generous in size and the nearby flushing toilet is a bonus. Lynton is a great host and and made this a very simple and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.

Great little campsite. It sits at the bottom of a small hill in front of a creek. Its the only campsite so it feels nice and secluded. Only a short walk to the toilet and water. Lynton is lovely and his dog Gemma is gorgeous. Hopefilly will camp there again soon

We had a great time camping there. It has a nice view, space and it's isolated enough. There were a lot of kangaroos nearby. There was a flushed toilet just 1 min walk, and water.
