Fickle Break Farm is a 28-acre coastal property on the doorstep of a world-class surf break, only 30 mins from Hobart. You can walk out the door with your surfboard, bike, or running shoes and jump in the ocean or onto several beautiful coastal walking and riding trails. We are 10 minutes away from Lauderdale shops and 10 mins to the best surf beaches in Hobart on the South Arm Peninsula. Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop campsite overlooking the South Arm Peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land. We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach. All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky. Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats! Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife). We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!@ficklebreakfarm on Instagram Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop farm overlooking the South Arm peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. We are a young family who love to share our special property with other likeminded people. We are totally kid friendly and dog friendly and the vibe at our campsite is very much like you’re a part of the family. Lots of privacy, but our farm has a wonderful sense of community with lots going on and we love our campers to be a part of it. CHECK IN Check in is from 2pm onwards. Please try not to show up earlier than this as we likely won’t be there to show you in. If you do want to come early, get in touch to arrange it with us beforehand. Check out is before 12noon. If you want to check in late at night please arrange with us beforehand so we can give you instructions. SITE & ACCESS We are 15-20 mins from the airport, 30 mins from Hobart, and 5 mins from Lauderdale shops which has excellent food and fruit and vege, petrol, gas, post office and chemist, and a bottle shop. Access to the campground is via our long dirt driveway through the coastal forest of the lower property, past the tiny home and the horse paddocks up to the top of the hill. Follow the signs to the campsite past the main house, entering at the large longboard surfboard sign, and go slow watching out for wildlife and kids! Each campsite is marked by a stone coloured solar light. First come first serve. AMENITIES The site has multiple individual fire drums you can move around to your chosen site. There is access to a tap with fresh rain water for drinking, but we can NOT provide filling up of larger tanks. You can fill water tanks at the service station at Shoreline shopping centre, 15 mins away. We have a brand new, beautifully designed compost toilet overlooking the ocean and rolling farmland, set amongst the privacy of our bush land and close to our campsites. There is a pathway with solar lights leading you to the toilet. We have an outdoor shower available also, please take care to conserve our precious rain water and only use natural products. We have 6 fully leveled flat pads with gravel big enough for large caravans. Plus lots of great little nooks for swags and tents. We have 2 powered sites available via long extension leads from our shed if required. The site also has a trampoline, hammocks, and swings… full access to our large communal shed with a big table tennis table, fairy lights, a couch and speakers for music. We also have toys, kites, bikes and games for kids. EXPERIENCES The campsite is on the top of the hill with close access to the fickle but amazing Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. Follow the pathways and the signs to the hill and enjoy a sunset beer overlooking the ocean. We are 30 mins to Hobart, 15-20 mins to the airport, and 5-10 mins to the nearby surf beach Clifton Beach which is patrolled with flags during summer. The Cape Deslacs walk is amazing too. There are many amazing day trips to do from your base with us. Talk to us for recommendations. Also talk to us if you want to book the entire site to yourself as this can be arranged also. FARM ANIMALS and WILDLIFE We have 4 miniature goats, 3 Guinea pigs, 17 baby chickens, 4 guinea fowl and bunnies to entertain the kids, and the chooks provide fresh eggs for you too. We also have a friendly border collie called Coru, who will greet you on arrival and we welcome other friendly dogs and pets. We have six beautiful horses that live in the lower paddocks on the property. Lots of sheep next door on the commercial sheep farm. Please be careful with children as our property has lots of comings and goings so take care around the driveways, and make sure to supervise children with the animals so they are gentle and shut gates etc. Please drive slowly down the driveway especially at dusk and at night as we have lots of wallabies, bandicoots and bettongs that share our home. We also have horses agisted in our lower paddocks. LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS/WALK INS ***Please do not just show up at our property without a booking. We are a small campground and we have young children running around so we prefer booking ahead especially if it’s summer season. If you don’t have a booking, call Sammy ahead before driving up. 0403247130. FIREWOOD ***firewood is BRING YOUR OWN. No fires on total fire ban days and no fires if windy.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights at Fickle Break farm. I was the only one there, which made it so peaceful. Beautiful views over the paddock and bit of water views too. Lovely to see the goats in the paddock 😊 Sam was very helpful. Gorgeous walks along the coastal tracks I will be coming back ❤️

Rough track to Paradise?
I was looking for a spot near Hobart airport, so the location was perfect. It's a gorgeous spot right on the trails to the beaches. Others have noted the washroom with a view. The driveway is 700 meters (according to GPS) and it is in rough shape. But I may be biased by my Canadian perspective. I managed to make it with my campervan rental so all is well that ends well!

While the view was beautiful and it was a peaceful location , communication really let us down . I had tried to message through both the site messenger and supplied mobile the day before arrival to confirm times with no reply . The day of the booking , I tried to message again , with no reply and we decided to head up. Once there , I called the number and left a voice message and text, with no reply . We were deciding what to do when a guy came out, asked what we wanted and I explained we were booked for three days . He told us to just go set up and went back inside so we had to just work it out . An hour after we had set up , I received a message from Julie to say they couldn’t meet us and to pick a site . We found out the next day from the guy who was there that the hosts were overseas . This is perfectly fine , but I feel as we had two sites booked for 3 nights , prior communication as to what to do when we got there would have been helpful .

Offseason ca
Visited in the off-season from Hobart and had the place to ourselves! The facilities are fantastic. We could plug our van in and the site was large, protected from the wind and perfectly flat. Sam our host was friendly and welcoming. Our kids loved the site with animals to visit, swings and play equipment and that was before we even headed to the beach! We need more camps like this.
