Conveniently located between Launceston and Devonport, Buckbill Banks Camping offers a beautiful, level camping area overlooking Quamby Brook Creek. The 35-acre property offers views of Quamby Bluff, and various options to explore and relax. Find yourself a nice quiet spot, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Although we take several bookings at once, you are guaranteed a secluded nook, there is plenty of space. There is a wood fired hot tub beside the creek, which all campers have access to. Imagine star gazing from the hot tub of an evening, or enjoying a morning soak whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the resident platypus in their natural habitat! Firewood is provided for the hot tub, you may buy wood on site for your individual campfires. The hot Tub is not for wild parties, but to relax and view the native wild life, quietly watch the platypus in their natural environment. Please note, we accept one camper trailer/caravan per booking. If you are traveling in a group with multiple caravans, you will need to book multiple sites - but will still be able to camp close together although we dont allow big noisy, disruptive groups anymore! The property has good access for all types of vehicles.

BEFORE BOOKING, PLEASE READ!! Our camping is less is more approach, it's exclusive and any behaviors outside the expectations of civil behavior you will be asked to leave!! Our camping area has lush green grass and is bordered by native forest and the creek line. It offers plenty of shade and overlooks the water, which is filled with fish and platypus. Lots of native wildlife and birds can be spotted from your camp chair! We have visiting Wedged tailed Eagles among an array of other birds! If you need solar, we suggest sitting back from the Creek line as this will provide more 🌞 as generators are not permitted. There is plenty of open space, and we no longer accept large group bookings!!! Our space is suited to people looking for solitude. We are NOT suitable for party groups, loud music, TV blaring, kids screaming, or dogs barking! We are suitable for people searching to find your own peaceful secluded spot in paradise. We can help guide you on arrival as to the best spot for your particular setup. PLEASE stop at house on the way through to check in, and we can guide you to your spot 🙏 Self-contained campers only please absolutely no swags or tents. Grey water must not be put in or near the creek but can run on the ground all other waste MUST leave with you. NO fishing at this spot, sorry, due to the platypus breeding area. . Pls take your own rubbish 🗑 with you! There is no lighting of fires without an enclosed fire pot only (byo). No ground fires permitted. Can lend you one if required. Pet friendly - dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and may walk in the paddocks without stock and supervise. Check-in is stricktly between 2pm and 6pm. Please message to arrange other times. Check out is 12pm unless otherwise arranged. NOTE: Your per night includes cleaning, filling, and lighting of the hot tub, ensuring its get to temperature and includes all wood required for the heating of the hot tub. Your hot tub experience comes with a hot tub master to ensure it's perfect 👌. Children are NOT permitted in the hot tub. It is not a swimming pool or a minding facility. it's adults ONLY! NOTE: We don't allow campers in after dark for the safety of other campers, and we do not allow generators to run! We do not allow extras in tents, swags, or additional vehicles. All day visitors must be pre-approved we are not a drop in center for parties. This is for the enjoyment and safety of our other guests. Children and dogs must not be running through, near, or around other camp sites. We don't permitted stealing of wood from neighboring properties (this is strictly off bounds). BYO, your own wood for fire pits. We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of paradise!

Our Cubby House Corner is one of our more exclusive sites, with your very own wood fire hot tub experience for two. Found at the far end of the Duckbill Banks Campsite it’s well away from others, nestled beside an old cubby house built in the trees right on the banks of the Quamby Brook. Listen to the water gently amber of the rocks and watch for our resident platypus family go about their daily activities and listen to the local array of birds and wildlife. Its utter perfection! Your wood fire hot tub experience comes with wood and a hot tub master to show you how it all works. All you need to do is park your van and relax! Check-in is STRICKTLY between 2pm and 5pm. Other times must be prearranged. Check out is STRICKTLY 11am unless prior arrangements have been made. Pls also advise us if you are planning to come in late while on site for the safety and comfort of others! PLS call Bert on 0434825669 to arrange.

Nice location and central to some small towns to explore BUT absolute top dollar which was ok in the sense it keeps the rif raf at bay but was a little disappointing still.

Platypus Cove Hot Tub - Double Site
This was the perfect end to my Tasmania trip, the private hot tub was so relaxing, & the addition of native essential oils from Bert the owner was amazing. Smelt delicious & no mosquito's! Lots of birdlife, & as it got dark the fairy lights came on & I was visited by wallabies, pottoroos & even a tiny tree frog! Highly highly recommend, will definitely be back next visit.

Lovely, cute and enchanting spot to stay. You can sit in the bath tub late at night and listen to all the bizarre wild life sounds and giggle. The host was very friendly and helpful, went to alot of effort to set up my hot tub. I will book here again. 😁

Platypus Cove Hot Tub - Double Site
Duckbill Banks is set on a generous, flat, grassy meadow next to the creek. Sites are well separated and sheltered by trees. Bert set us up with a large shared wood fired hot tub with our one fellow guest on the first night after we'd all decided we were happy for a chat and with a smaller tub next to our site on the second night. It's a lovely way to spend the evening and watch the stars. We'd highly recommend Duckbill Banks as a lovely place to camp. Unfortunately the platypus' didn't make an appearance while we were there.

An amazing place to stay we were lucky enough to have the place all to ourselves, Bert was extremely helpful and helped us out as our battery to our van was flat. We highly recommend staying here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights here, it was so surreal sitting in the tub in the bush listening to the sounds of nature all around. Didn’t spot a platypus but loved walking along the creek & enjoyed chats with Bert - a great host. Love to return

Cubby House Corner with Hot Tub
Hot tub was nice but the owners or someone from the property was hooning around on dirt bikes late into the evening each night. I'm not talking just riding around to check on animals, full on revving it up and down repeatedly for at least an hour each night. To top it off, across the creek is a forestry road where heaps of people use it to access dirt bike trails. Kinda ruined the serenity. Apart from that, nice setup, good little creek.

Platypus Cove Hot Tub - Double Site
What a special place Duckbill is to spend a night or two. We camped right on the creek, and had the place to ourselves. It was quiet and picturesque, clean and well appointed. The hot tub was divine, the perfect place for a glass of wine while watching the platypus after putting the kid to bed. We loved this stay,.and would recommend it to everyone.

Cubby House Corner with Hot Tub
This is as without doubt THE BEST campsite we have ever stayed at. Back to nature at its best. A large camping area with only a few other campers so we all had loads of space. We had a wonderful friendly welcome from Tamika when we arrived who followed us down to our camping spot (we booked the more expensive secluded area with its own hot tub) to fire up the wood fired hot tub for us. We had a few dips in the tub each evening over a few hours as it stays hot for so long, with a beer whilst looking up at the stars and listening to the wallabies bounce by, and the devils fighting in the forest. Sadly the platypus didn’t make an appearance but this in no way spoilt an amazing two days. Thank you to Tamika and Bert for creating such an amazing paradise for us to enjoy. You shouldn’t hesitate to visit here, but also please don’t tell everyone. Almost feel we need to keep this a special secret.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, it was a lovely spot, only criticism I have is its a bit expensive compared to other camps, maybe include fire wood for that price?

This spot is AMAZING for a relaxing and secluded camp adventure. The creek side spots are spacious and campers were super respectful of space and very friendly. The hot tub is the BEST feature of this spot. The natural wood fire heated tub is exactly what we needed. We also had a blast searching for platypus and even heard some Tasmanian devils around the site! The hosts were also very accommodating and were quick to respond. They let us use their self contained fire and got us lots of fire starter to use! Lovely people and lovely spot 😄

I loved my stay here, I needed a getaway from everything, and this place delivered! So peaceful and serene. The platypus came out every evening and played for ages. The hot tub is amazing and relaxing! Bert is a legend and so very helpful! I will be back for sure!

An absolute hidden Gem, Bert has been exceptional, great service, hot tubs are awesome, my hubby and I had the most romantic time by ourselves by the river. Hammock was also a hit for an afternoon snooze, a place to come for some peace and quiet. We were here during the week. Free range eggs were delicious. Thank you, it’s just what we needed.

We had an amazing stay at Duckbill Banks Camping in our motorhome. The location is absolutely stunning, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. The grounds are very well set out, with plenty of thoughtful touches that show just how much time and effort the owners have put into creating such a welcoming space. The wood fire hot tub was a standout feature and such a fun addition—perfect for relaxing under the stars. The campsite itself is peaceful and well-maintained, providing a calm and serene environment for a getaway. The hosts were incredibly helpful and accommodating, going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It’s clear they’re passionate about their property and their guests’ experience. Overall, Duckbill Banks is a true gem and a must-visit for anyone looking to camp in Tasmania. We can’t wait to return!

We loved our experience at Duckbill Banks, did see the platypus a couple of times. The peaceful environment was what we crave after many bad experiences at regular camp grounds. The hosts Tamika and Bert were outstanding and it shows in their little piece of paradise. Thankyou and we'll be back!

We only stayed one night here, but it was one of the most peaceful places we stayed at in Tassie. The hot tub was fabulous and we’re lucky enough to see a very fleeting platypus! Highly recommend!

We have enjoyed staying at Tamika's hipcamp on a number of occasions, the hot tub is wonderful and the location is very peaceful. During our last stay i have noticed the nightly rate has increased and currently is the most expensive hipcamp in northern Tas, although it a lovely location the nightly price will restrict us returning.
