Paradise Valley Homestead

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents33 acres · West Milford, NJ
GREAT NEWS!!! As of April 5th, my long awaited 1st Glamping site is available for booking! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. We have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

TJ’s Beautiful Forest

1 site · RV, Tent2 acres · Wharton, NJ
When water levels are high there is a small creek that runs through the middle of the property. The property has a central clearing that’s perfect for RV parking, tent set up, as well as a fire pit with firewood that is supplied on the property for purchase! It is seasoned for at least two years and protected from the elements, so it is very dry. The location is super low-key at the end of a private street. Minutes from some of the state's larger lakes, such as Lake Hopatcong, and Mt. Hope Pond. Easy access, minutes away from the state's major highways. There are well known nearby ponds, where one can swim and enjoy these different Lake beaches. There are also a ton of great food spots in the immediate area, and a big shopping mall in Rockaway. There are several grass areas that are well maintained for tent setup or other recreational activities. Fishing is excellent in this area as well, with a ton of local spots. The property has a table and chairs for eating and relaxation. Wildlife sightings are abundant, an amazing opportunity for nature lovers. This is a double lot, one site with a new home being built, the other designated as a campground and nature preserve. I allow access to indoor garage area in case of bad weather.

The best camping near Thomas Edison National Historical Park guide

Overview

About

Gain an appreciation for modern conveniences by visiting Thomas Edison's famous home and lab. This is where he envisioned and built some of his greatest inventions. The 19-building site includes Edison's work area, a complex with a metallurgical laboratory, chemistry laboratory, and main laboratory. Here Edison conducted tons of experiments with light and sound. The Black Maria, a building in the complex, is the world's first film studio. There are also artifacts and inventions available for viewing in Building 5.

The other half of the historical park, Edison's house, is Glenmont Estate at Llewellyn Park. It covers 13 acres of grassy lawns, sculpted gardens, and full-grown trees. It's a great place to wander around and enjoy nature in the middle of suburban West Orange, New Jersey. Wander through the 29-room Victorian mansion and view the original furnishings.

There are several routes to the park: take exit 145 from the Garden State Parkway, or opt for the New Jersey Turnpike. Either way, take Main Street to the Edisonia Terrace for the main entrance. Camp at Fort Wadsworth to the southeast or Hackettstown to the west, the latter of which offers a more rural experience.
