What an amazing place!! Super clean, great views of the strawberry fields, clean Porto potty to use (was serviced day before we arrived), and the hosts were super friendly. Robin made us cookies and gave us fresh eggs from their chickens. Lots of privacy between the 3 camp sites available. Couldn’t have been happier! The beach is only an 8 min walk away and what a phenomenal beach. Dog friendly and super quiet, perfect spot to go surfing and/or watch the surfers. Soft sand and people are friendly. Would definitely recommend to a friend and will be back soon.

We had a fantastic time staying at Robin and Rays property. They were both very personable and gracious hosts. Robins farm fresh eggs were delicious too. The property was well kept and the porta potty was very clean. The location was very close to two very beautiful beaches as well. We intend to stay again when we are back down in that area. We had such a fun stay at the Room with a View of a Ewe! Kim the host was extremely welcoming and friendly - she showed us around the farm and we got to feed the chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, bunnies, and alpacas. It was a hit with our toddler. The cabin was comfortable and warm overnight, and the breakfast and s’mores kit were an added bonus. Thanks Kim!

Thaddeus and Mona were the most gracious and lovely hosts!! I never remember to review places, but am making a review because of how wonderful our stay was. The location is gorgeous, truly a fairy land! We brought our own tent and the site was clean and well made, nice and level with partition walls for privacy. They had motion sensing lights and rope lights to be able to see at night for our set up which was great! The bathroom and shower was spotless and functional, there was a thoughtful outlet to charge devices near the campsite as well as filter drinking water! We didn’t get a chance to check out the rest of the property the next morning, but can’t wait to go back to experience the many swings on the property. There are sheep and pigs in the field across the road as well, so cute! There is a big of vehicle noise due to the road but it didn’t bother us at all. Highly recommend this site!!

Very pretty property with great hosts. We were not able to get in until very late and they very graciously accommodated us. They have water and wood that smells amazing when burned and a nice box of goodies including popcorn and colored fire packs. One note is the sites are next to each other and not visually separated, similar to state parks.

Had an amazing time in this camper. Matt was very communicative and compensated when he addressed a minor issue before we even checked in! It was amazing being able to see the stars and wake up to the sunlight through the camper. The campfire was in a perfect spot to make s’mores. The portable bathroom was easy to use and we had a ton of privacy. Definitely would recommend.

I stopped here on a trip between the central coast and the bay and I'm very glad that I did. The amenities are very well thought out and the location itself is beautiful. There is some road noise, but it didn't prevent me from sleeping and the hosts were kind enough to provide a pair of earplugs just in case. I would happily stay here again if I was passing through the area!

Solo traveler. I loved parking my class B RV here with a beautiful view of the Strawberry fields. Manresa State Beach parking lot only 1/2 mile away. A beautiful beach and surf spot with wide, sandy shores. Walk for miles! Hosts were very welcoming, helpful and kind. I felt safe there!

Adventure seekers will find paradise here! Mount Madonna Park with miles of trails is 20 minutes down the road. You can dump your septic there as well! Horseback riding rentals are located near the park as well as an archery range. Demonstration forest is 15 minutes down the road, with miles of mountain biking. Spend a day at one of the beaches in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Rio Del Mar, Davenport, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, or Carmel and return to your private oasis. Or Explore Silicon Valley from this centrally located parcel. Kim Son Meditation Center and Mount Madonna Center are approximately 15 minutes away. There is also a large geodome furnished as a game room with couches, a lounge area, pool table, foosball table, a stereo, games, and music equipment. There are clean composting toilets, hot showers, a propane fire pit, heaters for the cold, a hammock bungalow, a meditation pagoda, a deck overlooking a creek, and disc golf baskets. With a fair balance of sunlight and shade, we have a garden, some outdoor play equipment, and lots of open space to spread out and relax. Free wifi is available. We run a nonprofit outdoor education camp for underprivileged youth, and your stay supports our work. Winter lodging.... It can get seasonably cold in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the winter. This is great option for those who like to bring all their own gear to camp, and don’t need or want all the extras. Our new Primitive Adventures campsites are located on an established 5-star property. It’s a peaceful, secluded and private country estate. The 20 acre property starts out flat and then gentle to moderate sloped hillside with coastal live oak trees, eucalyptus trees, pine trees, meadows and many interesting landscape features nestled between the vast farmlands of North Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. We are 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is usually mild here and we have cool evenings. We do get days that are in the 90s sometimes in the summer and early fall, but we also have lots of shade with all the trees. There is wildlife like deer, turkeys and owls and so much more. We have horses and a donkey, separate from the campsites, so no flies or smell from them. We provide one hot water shower and there are 3 outhouse style toilets on the grounds. There is NO running water at the sites so we suggest you bring your own drinking water. There will be limited water provided for hand/dish washing. We are a pack it in/pack it out campground so please, be mindful of waste as we ask that you take it out with you. You may forage for plentiful eucalyptus and oak firewood for free, or pre-cut pine is available for purchase. Most of our weekends are fully booked at our Rustic Campsites already, so here is another chance to have yourself a weekend camping trip at our new Primitive Adventures campsites. Expect a warm greeting upon arrival. To find us, an unmarked road, listed on maps as "Country Lane" (we call it Vega Vortex Rd). Parking is close to our Vega Vortex sign and a short walk to your tent. Filtered potable water, electricity, shower/toilet with an "on demand" hot/cold water are available. Instructions for use are available and should you need assistance - we are here for you! Experience 2 campsites, BYOT (bring your own tent or rent one from us) or an onsite Bell tent. The Bell tent contains carpeted padded flooring, camp lights, shelving, 2 cots with bedding, plus a memory foam camping mattress! The BYOT site's measurement is 10' x 10' . Both sites have shaded areas, and picnic tables. A shower and a compost toilet are available. Enjoy a designated smoking/vaping spot, multiple benches, and swings, a "grounding" spot, birding, water fountains and art. A no noise policy by the county occurs at 9 pm. Due to a high risk fire zone, no open fires. Due to the proximity of the tents right next to Vega Rd, sounds from vehicles can be heard. We are situated in a rural neighborhood setting, with sounds of sheep, goats, chickens, wild turkeys, dogs and many birds nestled between both counties. For enhanced protection we ask that a waiver be signed. Security cameras are on site. While respecting your privacy, we can be seen improving the property. The terrain is hilly and staying on paths limits poison oak exposure. Vega Vortex has been called a Park and Machu Picchu due to the amphitheater landscaping of terracing. Practicing permaculture, a diversity of pollinating plants/ flowers, organic garden and art features exist. Minutes away from National Parks, the Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz Beach Board Walk, Roaring Camp Train, Monterey Bay Aquarium, National Steinbeck Center, Moss Landing, Elkhorn Slough/Canoe/Kayak, Estuaries (bird watching), golfing and multiple beaches.
