Loved the remote and quite stay just around the corner from all the buzz at the coast. The place is very well kept. Sadly didn’t see any Platypus in the creek.

Peaceful and lovely views around farm. The cows were lovely to wake up to and were everywhere. Friendly though and some cute calfs.
The information given before and after booking is a little confusing, as it depends where you camp as to what instruction to follow. I had messaged Tom prior to going to ask questions, but never received a reply. Once I got to the farm I called Tom, as I did not know where to go as I was in a converted minibus 2W and not all areas were suitable. However, Tom was not that helpful when I asked and just said he had been too busy to reply to me and to just go anywhere and that I’d be alright. Felt a little like he wasn’t too bothered, which surprised me given the previous reviews I’d read and how helpful Tom was. Maybe caught him at a bad time….. price wise, I thought it was a little expensive given that toilets are the only amenity. I had only paid $10 more in the area for power and water hook up, but guess you’re paying for the views and peace instead!
That said, we did enjoy our stay and our chosen spot was really nice. Toilets are close by and clean enough.

Beautiful place to camp.
Well spaced out (we barely saw anyone while staying), perfect views, beautiful creek.
Portaloos accessible from all of the areas we looked at and were clean and looked after - I saw Tom checking them all while we were there. Access to firewood for $20. Great fire barrels. Lovely spots to walk through. Tom was really helpful.
Easy drive and lots of spots are accessible for 2wd. Recommend going for a walk around the property as there are some spots we found after setup that would've been lovely - so we've picked our spot for next time!
Loved the place and we will definitely be back.

The property has numerous camping options in terms of environment and views, and all are amazing. In spite of limited services, we very much enjoyed our stay and will be back sometime. Highly recommend staying here.

We loved our stay at Sleepy Hollow Manor! The property is incredibly peaceful, and waking up to cows grazing right outside the van was such a cool experience. The location is perfect too, so close to Pottsville Beach and an easy drive to Byron.
We had an unexpected issue with our van and had to leave it on the property while waiting for a tow truck. Tom was amazingly accommodating the whole time, with great communication and a genuinely helpful attitude.
Couldn’t recommend this spot more. We’ll definitely be back! 🌿🚐🐄

We had a very relaxing overnight camp. There was plenty of choice locations and space to pitch our tent and enjoy a fire. There are port-a-loos dotted around the property so it's never far to a toilet!

I really enjoyed staying at this Hipcamp
It was my first ever time doing a solo camping adventure
All the instructions on how to get there were very clear and after I set up in a great location Tom came around and checked up on. Everybody made sure everything was fine and although the weather wasn’t great I had a wonderfully peaceful night and was woken up in the morning of the resident Cows.
I wished I had a booked an extra night, but I definitely will be back

Our dog had lots of fun. Trees provided shade from the sun. The cows went home when the day was done. In terms of towns and beaches, Pottsville was a close one.
Campsites were evenly spaced. Very relaxing, the day was slow paced. So many stars in the aerospace. We spent so many hours at the fireplace (2pm until 12am).
The toilets were as clean as could be. Our time there was care-free. Rolling hills as far as we could see. Time so fun we forgot about tv. A bit scary at night… bourgeoisie?

Very pleasant stay away from everything and still close to the M1, so easy to access. Plenty space for each camper on a huge property. Perfect with kids with a lot of things to explore + cows.
A bit expensive for basic amenities but that was a last minute booking on a busy weekend so, fair I guess.

Platypus creek was an ideal location for wanting secluded and serene camping, yet a 5-10 min drive to Pottsville town centre. Tom is an excellent host who made the whole process from booking to leaving easy. The camp site is extremely well cared for, clean & unspoilt by previous campers. We recommend Platypus creek to new campers or seasoned travellers.

Where to go
Along the Gold Coast
The world-famous beaches of the Gold Coast are just a 40-minute drive from Tamborine Mountain. Check into a seafront campsite and spend your days swimming, surfing, and sunbathing along the sandy beaches, or head to Surfers Paradise to kayak around the waterways and experience the legendary nightlife. Family campers will find entertainment for all ages along the coast, from theme parks to wildlife sanctuaries.
Gold Coast Hinterlands
Tamborine Mountain is well-situated for exploring the surrounding hinterlands. Head south to hike in the Numinbah Valley and admire glow worms at the Natural Bridge in the Springbrook National Park. Or, for the ultimate hiking adventure, trek through UNESCO-listed rainforest and enjoy backcountry camping in the Lamington National Park.
Brisbane and the Islands
Urban campers have options in Brisbane, and the city makes a strategic basecamp for discovering the surrounding islands. Cruise out to North Stradbroke Island to pitch your tent on secluded beaches, or catch the ferry to Moreton Island to dive the Tangalooma Wrecks and drive along the beaches in a 4WD. Further north, Bribie Island is an idyllic escape for campers, with remote campsites reachable by boat and kayak.
When to go
Coastal campers looking to escape the summer heat will find temperatures slightly lower in the hinterlands, but expect high humidity and frequent showers from December through April. The winter months (June through August) are the most popular time to explore, with warm, mild weather ideal for hiking. Weekends are always busiest, and popular attractions can get crowded, but it’s still worth visiting at this time to enjoy the markets.
Know before you go
- There is no camping in the Tamborine Mountain National Park. Camping permits are required to camp within Queensland’s national parks and must be reserved in advance.
- There is no public transport to Tamborine Mountain, and you will need your own transport to explore the hinterlands and national parks.
- Tamborine Mountain has a selection of shops, restaurants, and artisan producers, so you’ll have no problem finding options for eating and drinking. Gas stations and supermarkets are in the area, but for specialist camping gear, head to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
- Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations and always use designated fire pits.
