Just 8 km from Byron Bay - 10 minutes drive along a scenic country road, with gentle hills around and magical views. Near all the Byron incredible activities, such as great restaurants, waterfalls, beaches. Well positioned between the beaches of Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads. Incredible privacy and quiet.
There are goats (with babies) in a paddock next to Site 2, and a horse paddock with 6 horses.
We do have a water tap though to fill your tanks and a couple of electric plugs to charge your essentials (check the small old shed close to Site 1).
We have 6 different sites for caravan and RVs/ tents.
It is a former cattle farm that is being currently reforested to the original Big Scrub rainforest. The proceeds from Hipcamp are used to reforest the land.
PLEASE make sure to take your garbage away and remember the campsites are for fully contained campers only (no toilets on site). You NEED to be fully contained to stay in the property.
You can enjoy walking around and explore the magic sunsets of the Byron Hinterland. There are a few billabong/ creeks and a mowed nature walk path.

Our camp site is perched on the creek edge with little rock pools and running fresh water suitable for a refreshing swim. A large fire pit area along the creek edge leaves you warm on those cooler nights . Please add the extra firewood bundle and we will have it prepared before your arrival.
Pitch your tent or drive your 4WD right up to our running creek that features lovely swimming holes, rock pools and large shady trees. This area is great to watch the sunset over the macadamia orchard or sit by the campfire at night. This campsite is set in a very private location on our 26 acre property.
You need to be a self-contained camper with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. There is access to a picnic table for meals.
We recommend 4WDs to access this campsite, and caravans and camper trailers are ok. If you're unsure about your vehicle please message us.

We loved our two night stay at Bindarah downs. The grassy sites are well set apart from other campers, ample shade and good access to the creek. We enjoyed a stroll through the farm to see the dam. We will definitely be back.

Great little get away. Love that there was water in the creek and the dogs could cool off. Ample space between campers and lots of places to walk around the property. We visited Mt. Barney which was a short drive. Highly recommend this space and Shayne is a great host and was very welcoming.

Bindarah Downs is a lovely, quiet, rural setting perfect for our family camping trip. Shayne was very helpful and accommodating- great directions, explanations of the farm animals and walks and local area. Only a 15-20 min drive to Mt Barney NP hikes (including Lower Portals swimming hole). We camped right by the creek, which was running with beautiful clear water. No mozzies. Grounds well maintained. No toilets, so you need to be fully self contained.

Shayne & Kim are incredibly welcoming hosts. The property is beautifully maintained and surrounded by a creek. Plenty of trees alongside the camping area to provide shade. Bags of firewood available are for sale to use in the many fire pits. Don’t forget to bring the carrots or Weet Bix for a treat for the horses. They love to come and say hi at the fence. We will definitely be back!

This campsite was exactly what I was hoping for. It was quiet and peaceful, with a lovely creek nearby that made it feel really relaxing. The campsites were very clean and well cared for, which made our stay even better. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and they made us feel comfortable right away. I’d definitely recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a calm, enjoyable place to stay.

We loved our time at Bindarah Downs. We were welcomed by Shayne and had a nice chat. The property was freshly mowed and well prepared for us. The surrounding creek was lovely to cool off in. We met some of the horses and they were given a Weet Bix treat and a scratch. It reached 36 degrees but sitting under the huge trees kept us comfortably cool. Fire wood for sale on site is a bonus too. Will definitely be back!

Silky oak flat is absolutely the best Hipcamp I’ve been to. It’s a large flat site with shade and right bedside the running creek where you can just sit on the rocks and let the water splash over you or swim in the deeper swimming holes the water is crystal clear and very refreshing, I loved to sit and watch the turtles swimming.
Bryce is very friendly and accommodating with the firewood. Can’t wait to get back there in the near future
