Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
A peaceful 140-acre farm at Round Mountain, just 5 minutes from both Pottsville and Cabarita beaches. Wake up to sunrises over the hills, views across the valley to the ocean, and our Brahman cows grazing by the dam. We have just three spread-out, grassy sites, so you'll often have the place almost to yourself. Dogs are welcome, fire pits are provided, and firewood bundles are available ($20). Spend your days surfing at Cabarita, riding the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, or exploring the cafés and restaurants of Pottsville, Kingscliff and Byron Bay. We're also handy for North Byron festivals such as Splendour, Falls and Bluesfest. Travel light: through our partner business, Hirehood, you can have bikes, e-bikes, surfboards and baby gear delivered straight to your site. We'll send you the details when you book. Good to know: this is nomadic camping. There are no toilets, showers or drinking water, so please come self-contained. The farm runs alongside the M1, which makes access easy, but you will hear some road noise. The driveway has a short, steep climb; 4WD is recommended for heavy vans, so please message us about larger rigs.

Our hilltop sites have the best views on the farm, looking out over the dam and the valley towards the ocean, with brilliant sunrises. Sites 1 and 2 sit side by side on the hilltop pad, one at the front and one at the far end. Flat, mowed grass with a fire pit at each site. Full sun, so bring shade for summer. Booking both sites together is great for groups and families. Access involves a short, steep climb, and 4WD is recommended for heavy vans.

A private, shaded site under the trees at the base of the hill, to the right as you come through the first gate and separate from sites 1 and 2. Easy access in a 2WD and good for tents, rooftop tents, camper trailers and smaller vans. It's our closest site to the M1, so expect road noise, which is why it's our best-value site. Limited turning space, so please message us if you have a large caravan. Please note there are fenced-off building materials for a shed at this site; we kindly ask that these aren't touched.

Perfectly close to Pottsville. Loved watching the sun rise with a coffee before heading to the beach for a swim. Close to the freeway so there is a bit of road noise but that is to be expected. We enjoyed seeing the Brahman cows grazing below us near the dam.

I had an amazing stay! Georgina and her husband were very helpful and made me feel welcome from the start. The place is peaceful, surrounded by beautiful nature, and the sunrise and stars were incredible. I highly recommend this Hipcamp and I’ll definitely be back.

A great stop over campsite. Lovely big trees, picturesque dam. Flat site too. But the road noise did me in by the third night. Can't change that though and so I am grateful for the opportunity to have had time at Keltara.

Clear directions. Great location. About 10 mins to Pottsville. We had the place to ourselves which was lovely. The spot at the bottom is easier to access but the area at the top has great views. Recommend 4WD low range to climb the small but steep hill, especially if you have a heavy van. The climb is only about 20 meters. Fire pits provided. Would go back.

We had such a relaxing stay at Kiltara Camp Grounds. The property is peaceful, well maintained, and surrounded by beautiful scenery, making it the perfect place to switch off and enjoy nature. The campsites are spacious, giving you plenty of room and privacy most importantly we didn't have to leave our dog behind , it's a great spot to unwind around the campfire and bring you back to enjoying the simple things in life. The location is ideal, with easy access to nearby beaches and local attractions while still feeling secluded. If you're looking for a quiet escape away from the crowds, I would definitely recommend Kiltara Camp Grounds. We'll certainly be back!

Had a fantastic stay here. The directions were easy to follow and finding the campsite was hassle-free. The outlook was beautiful, with great views and a peaceful atmosphere. It was perfect for our dog, with plenty of nice grassy space to run around and relax. The fire pit was a great addition and made for a really enjoyable evening. We’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

The spot was very private and flat as described which made for a nice few days. However, we were a little disappointed in other areas of site 3 specifically. The area is 90% dirt/rock, not grass as depicted in the photos. Also, the edge and hill which should allow to overlook the dam was very overgrown blocking the view - it is not maintained like the photos. Despite this, we did enjoy our time. We would consider booking sites 1 or 2 as they did have full grass coverage in the future.

Great location close to lovely beaches and scenary. Unfortunately it’s very close to the highway and that’s all we could hear day and night- very noisy. Wasn’t the true camping experience I hoped for with my daughter. The campsite is full sun from sunrise to sunset so very hot. Great though if you’re stopping through and don’t mind the noise and want to head to the local beaches. Sunrise was beautiful there

Convenient location to beaches and towns. Flat pad although grass could do with a cut. As others have pointed out there was a bit of road noise but didn't bother us much. Only 2 spots so otherwise undisturbed. There is a slightly steep drive and be mindful of the blind bend on entering/exiting.
