Aggressive, disruptive, or potentially dangerous dogs of any type are not allowed — especially restricted breeds (e.g. Pit Bulls, Bull Mastiffs). During your time here, visit the local farm gates in Tumut, Batlow, Tumbarumba, and Adelong for their delicious high-country produce. There are also some beautiful swimming spots and walks to discover in the region, as well as good facilities in town, including the local swimming pool and shopping centre. Enjoy a local brew and bite to eat at the Tumut brewery. Bahwidgee is just 3km from the Tumut town centre - so close you could ride in, or even walk.

Don't have a caravan, we have partnered up with Wrighty's Caravan Hire and Repairs. They offer family caravans delivered, setup ready for you to enjoy.
Pets allowed but you must have on lead when walking around the property near cattle. Note a maximum of 2 dogs per camp site.
Early check in available upon request. Free if you are staying more than 1 night. No check prior to 12pm.
Rules:
1. For the piece and quiet of other campers all check-ins must be before 5.30pm during the colder months. Check ins after 7pm may be turned away in busy times.
2. No Fireworks - this is very unsettling for our livestock

4. No drones in the camping area, for the privacy of other campers
5. Generators are allowed for short period of time but not permitted after 8pm.

I have a small private property with grass campsites by a tidal outlet to Port Stephens harbour. We do not offer secluded camp sites away from other people on large acreage.
You can spend your days fishing, kayaking or enjoying Nelson Bay and surrounding areas and beaches which are only 15 minutes away. Guests have the use of a retreat shelter/fire place/BBQ area and wifi.
Campers must try to be self contained bringing their own water, toilet and shower. Sorry, no caravans over 20ft. Suite solo travellers, couples wanting a quiet weekend and LGBT friendly. We do have available tank, rain water for drinking, a toilet and hot shower, microwave and free wifi available for those who cannot be totally self contained. Yes there are mozzies because you are near water, so bring repellent.

CAMP 6 is the very top of the mountain with a long wide strip of cleared area with bush on both sides and a window at the end to the valley below, very private, must be fully contained and would suit most vehicles, may lose traction if pulling a heavy caravan or trailer.

Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away.
Lions Road repairs have been completed, however is classed as not suitable for large vans. Please contact us for further information.

Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround.
It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views.
As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.
Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks.
We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with.
Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

What a spot! My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at Oakey Ridge. What incredible hosts, Greg and Shane had answers to any questions we had and helped us out with a few camp hiccups… just wonderful 10/10! We’ll be seeing you again soon with our pup! Clean, everything is working, lots of sports, Loundry etc etc also second time when I was about to go there they did accept my cancellation 2 days before it with ful refund. Lovely woman helped me and saved a week of pay I really appreciate

Weekend Trip to Rainforest Gateway
Cabin 3 was the perfect place to call home for a couple of nights and take advantage of the calm surroundings. Containing everything you need in the kitchenette and a stones throw from everything you could want in the shared kitchen. A lovely spot to stay and soak up the atmosphere and wish upon a shooting star!

Misty Mountain was wonderful, very quiet with lots of spaces and campsites to choose from. Drop toilets and warm camp showers were awesome and very clean.
I did the 7km Misty look hike, was hard first 1km uphill but lovely after that!
Highly recommend!
