Welcome to Port Macquarie's 'The Hatch Farm'; a pet friendly, interactive animal and fishing farm stay! A 150-acre working farm with a stunning outlook over the saltwater Maria River (with a rustic boat ramp and waterway running into the Hastings River). Located on the Mid North Coast NSW, 4kms off the Pacific Highway, and a quick 13/15-minute drive to the holiday township of Port Macquarie. Port Macquarie is known for its beautiful beaches, coastal scenery and walks, koala hospital, and local strawberry and tomato picking. Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Friendly pets welcome.

Loved it!
Bernard and Susan are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The camping space is generous, relaxing and beautiful. The amenities are lovely - quirky and clean, with a rustic feel. Having kayaks available to use on the river was a great bonus. Definitely bring some insect repellent- the mozzies and March flies can get pretty ferocious. The camp was easy to find, and the camp rules were clear and fair (it is also a working farm). Overall, a pretty magical place that is very close to Port Macquarie but feels like a million miles away.

Awesome spot.
What a cool place to camp. The hosts Susan and Bernard are absolute legends. Susan was more than happy to take us through the morning feeding ritual for the animals they have at the farm. I’m told during school holidays they set up a petting area for the kids. The sites are massive and each has its own fire pit right on the river. Most sites are so large that you can choose to set up under a tree or more in the open of your in need of some solar charging. Basic shower and toilet facilities are available. Bernard has big plans for the Hipcamp portion of the farm which will bring more facilities and stay options in the future. Remember that this is a working farm so you may hear a pig or 2 at night which is apart of the charm. No animals were overly loud during our stay.
