Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Secluded Racecourse Beach is a short drive south of Crescent Head on the mid-north coast of NSW. We have a beautiful 11 acres of coastal land where you can hear the waves as you sleep with the pristine Racecourse Beach only a 5 to 10 minute walk away. We are not directly on the beach and do not have beach access. Racecourse Beach is a great spot for surfing, fishing and swimming. All you need to do is find one of our intimate sites for you to pitch a tent or pull up with the camper van. THERE ARE NO AMENITIES SO YOU MUST BE FULLY SELF CONTAINED AND LEAVE NO TRACE. Fires are allowed, but must be contained in an off ground fire pit brought by camper. Firewood is available to purchase from the service station in Crescent Head and you are also welcome to gather wood from the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Racecourse. The critters in the swamp provided endless entertainment with their orchestra of sounds, the Rainbow Bee Eaters were delightful as they were nesting, and we have never used such a clean portaloo before. Heaps of secluded spots that make you feel close to nature. You can also hear the ocean and walk to it! Absolute bliss. Thanks Paul and Alex!

Lots of space. Quite a few campers but stayed really quiet. Felt like we were the only ones there most of the time. Lots of private feeling spots at the back.

Closed to Crescent Head & several beaches along Point Plomer. It’s quiet & spacious. In the morning, beautiful birds visit.

The place was clean beautiful view owners very accommodating close to crescent head shops and pubs and beaches enjoyed the stay would highly recommend if you love nature Paul is so friendly .

Perfect spot, great location, generally peaceful and been many times - although ruined by bogans kids circle jerking each other in their old land cruisers- music, loud and fucking about till 1.30am. Kept everyone awake to the point we packed up and left….

Website stated there were no toilets and it was a condition to bring a camp toilet, we went and bought one for the trip to find out there were in fact portaloo toilets on site so ended up wasting money on a camp toilet we can’t return and probably won’t use in the future. Great campsite and location tho, beaches amazing.

Weather was ordinary with a heap of rain but the site conditions held up well with easy access in and out with plenty of lush grass around. The sites were vast and over a long weekend it was surprisingly quiet and heaps of space with my nearest neighbour being 60-80m away. Highly recommended and will be back.

Racecourse camp was a great place to relax for a couple of days over Easter. Even though it was busy our group of three caravans had its own area. This camp is in great proximity to Cresent Head and all of the different beaches down to Port Macquarie. The owner also provided portaloo’s for this busy time.

Paul & Alex’s campground at Racecourse was beautiful and quiet. We stayed over Anzac weekend when the weather was pretty wet. Would recommend when you stay to check the forecast. If it’s been wet or heavy rain forecast, mozzies are a nightmare however there seemed to be far fewer up the top level closer to the road than down the bottom area. Happy camping!

Minimal number of campers. Camping area was all grass no dirt areas which was lucky as it rained on and off the whole time. Wouldve been great to have a boardwalk access pathway to beach but otherwise only a couple of minutes drive to nearest beach. Portaloos were great, thank you.

We had an amazing stay over the Easter long weekend. We were 2 families of 4 and 5 in a van and camper trailer. Its a fantastic location with unexpected porta loos too - though after about 4 days they were pretty full and needed swapping. We didn't expect as many campers to be on the property however, that definitely didn't encroach on us and still provide a serene space to camp off grid. We definitely will camp there again!

Great location close to Crescent & many other beautiful beaches. Even at a peak time of year there was plenty of space to set up. Having portaloos on site was a bonus. Would stay again

Maybe because it was a long weekend, the site was rammed when we got there – our only option was to either camp by the fence which is directly next to the road, or next to the portaloo. There was also a large group of guys who were getting rowdy – this is just a part of camping, you can’t control who is at the site, but because it was rammed, it meant you had no choice but to camp next to them and listen to their cursing and rubbish talk. We ended up abandoning the site and found a last minute motel. It was a shame cos the reviews and photos had made it out to be a nice site, which it was – but the fact that it was rammed over the long weekend meant that it wasn’t enjoyable for a family with young children.

This campsite was in a great location close to Racecourse beach and the headland there. The campground provided portable toilets which were satisfactory. The amount of people that were allowed however in this one small campground for Easter Long Weekend, was in my opinion way too many. We had a crew of about 20 people plus all their vans next to us (I was unsure if all had paid or just rocked up). So, I think in the off season this paddock would be great, as I loved the sunset there whilst we had our campfire, but would not be back here during peak times. I also do understand that many places get busy during peak times such as Easter, but think for the owners they may need to keep a better eye on who is turning up and if they have booked or not.

Great campsite with a choice of spacious pitches, easy to find and well fenced. Close drive to Crescent Head beach, which is absolutely beautiful, and close to the shops. Highly recommend!

Nice place, clean and amazing location. Planting of nice trees etc around the site. Pack mozzie repellant otherwise you will get carried away. Unfortunately way overcrowded and not suitable for little kids. There were groups arriving at 11pm in their v8 land cruisers and people partying past 1am. We nearly got ran over in our swag by people trying to find space being crowded late at night. Not sure if people were rocking up late and staying without paying but would not go again. Unfortunate as great space.
