5 nights at Hillside Camp on Bow River

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at the Pine Ridge site at Hillside. Dave was an excellent host. The site and property were really well maintained and clean, with great signage. The river was beautiful with the kids spending hours playing and exploring the caves. The 4WD tracks were a lot of fun too! We can’t wait to come back!

1 night at Barkala farmstay

What a perfect spot for family camping! Our toddler absolutely loved her time there, and so did we! The amenities are beautiful and clean and the campsite are lovely and grassy- with plenty of shade. The pool, trampoline, little playground and dirt mound with play trucks were fantastic and kept our girl occupied. The food from the cafe was consistently delicious! I even did a spontaneous pottery wheel class, and was obsessed! 10/10!!! Could not recommend more!

A beautiful, peaceful and almost undisturbed property. It was very relaxing and private, plus lots of bush to explore. Even quiet for a Easter long weekend. We had a 14.5ft offroad caravan which would be the max size I would attempt to access the site. Parts can be soft and sandy so have all the 4WD gear. Love to stay again.

1 night at Wollombi Springs

I spent one night with my partner at Sunset Flats. and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better host. Robert was incredibly accommodating and just a genuinely nice person. He went above and beyond to help us out when things didn’t go to plan. First off, we lost reception on the way in (just a heads up for anyone with Vodafone – signal’s patchy in the area), so we couldn’t contact Robert or meet him at the designated meeting point. We ended up driving straight to the campsite instead. Not long after, Robert came down personally to check in and make sure we were settled, which we really appreciated. The next morning, our car wouldn’t start and we were pretty stressed—home was about two hours away and we were stuck. Without hesitation, Robert brought down jumper leads, helped us get the car going, and stayed with us the whole time to make sure everything was okay. It was honestly such a relief having someone that kind and helpful around. The campsite itself was beautiful, peaceful, and had everything we needed. We woke up early morning and saw a few wombats on a morning walk. Also - I’ve honestly never seen a campsite toilet that spotless before. But what really stood out was the hospitality and care Robert showed us. Would absolutely recommend staying here—not just for the spot, but for the kind of host who truly looks out for his guests.

Weekend Trip to Wollombi Springs

A great 2-night stay at Sunset Flats. Robert is super friendly, informative, and generous with his time. Communication was great. The place itself has plenty of space and corners to hide away in, and it is very well kept. I know he's going to be making further developments to the shape and structure of the property, and they all sound great. My one piece of feedback is the lack of substantial pieces of firewood. The place is swimming in wood to burn, but you need some logs for a good fire to take you into the night. I'm pretty resourceful and have the tools and energy to process what I found, so it wasn't a problem, but if it's claimed to be there, it probably should be. People love a good fire and plan, pack, and purchase around having logs to burn, and I probably would have picked up a bag or 2 if I'd known. Thanks again, Robert - I'll be back. Recommended.

Our camping experience was absolutely wonderful! From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned to ensure a peaceful and memorable getaway. There are plenty of activities to keep us entertained- fruit picking, animal feeding, hiking... It was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. If you’re looking for a camping experience that’s well-organized, peaceful, and filled with good vibes, I couldn’t recommend this enough.

We had such a great Easter! Huge camp sites, fruit picking, tractor rides, animal feeding. 20min drive to wisemans ferry for some swimming, and 10min drive to "Australia's best pie" (confirmed)! We have camped here twice now, and will defintely be back!

We had an amazing Easter weekend camping at Canoeland Orchard! Jaime was incredibly warm and welcoming. The orchard was a picturesque setting with lots of fruit if you choose to do that as an activity. The kids loved feeding the animals each morning. The campsite was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. We can’t wait to come back!

Overall, it was a great experience for us as newbies to camping. BYO toilet and shower would be ideal as it’s a bit of a walk. Our 2 year old son enjoyed the tractor ride and kept asking for more. Animal feeding was also his favourite. There’s so much to do but still quiet and peaceful at night.

We loved our Easter stay at Canoelands Orchards. The sites are large and well maintained (grass), with a firepit on each site. Firewood can be purchased and delivered to site. There’s a cafe and farm shop onsite open daily. Plus daily fruit picking and animal feeding, there was also tractor rides when we were there! Kids had a ball!! No electricity or water on site. Amenities are basic but clean. The owners are wonderful, kind and responsive. They even fixed my son’s bike when he had a fall, and bought us an ice pack to camp! The sunsets and sunrises amongst the vines were amazing, a great long weekend off grid in nature. Close to wisemans ferry for shops, pub and fishing! Highly recommend, we will be back.

Weekend Trip to Canoelands Orchard Camping

We stayed at Site 6 in the Orchard Campground for 3 nights over the Easter break and had an amazing time! The campsite was spacious with very large plots, giving us plenty of room to set up our gear and still have space to relax and explore. One of the highlights was having the on-site café—perfect for that much-needed morning coffee before starting the day. Our 6-year-old absolutely loved feeding the farm animals and riding in the tractors around the property. There was always something to keep her entertained! The campground has clean toilets and showers, which made the stay really comfortable. And at night, the sky is something else—you can see a blanket of stars and even spot satellites drifting across the sky. It was a peaceful and memorable experience. Being located at Canoelands Orchard, there’s also the chance to pick fresh seasonal fruit, enjoy delicious house-made jams and relishes, and even grab a cider or fresh juice from the farm shop. The friendly staff made us feel welcome, and the relaxed farm atmosphere was a great escape from the city. Highly recommend this spot for families or anyone wanting to unwind in a beautiful, rural setting!

Weekend Trip to Wollombi Private Earthways camp

We had a lovely camping weekend at Brian and Sally's Wollombi Private Earthways camp. Our site was called "Private Tree Valley" which was very private and quiet, and space was huge even our dog enjoyed her fist no fence, off-leash run! We did not see other souls at our site even though it was Easter long weekend. They kept the camp site nice and tidy, and providing a simple but clean bush toilet and water tank for washing up. We found ample shade and firewood, plus a pile already prepared for us on arrival. Brian and Sally were very responsive which made our communication very easy and seamless experience. We highly recommend this hidden oasis.

Sally and Brian are great hosts and their property was perfect for a large group of friends. We stayed over Easter long weekend and were completely undisturbed. The camp shower and toilet were great additions. Sally was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and communicated well. Will hopefully be back again.

Canoelands Orchard Camping

Canoelands Orchard Camping and Fruit Picking, is located just 1 hour from Sydney's CBD. The property is 81 acres in total with a small shop and cafe onsite. We offer pick your own fruit so are open to the public daily (closed on occasion). Trading hours can be viewed at www.bookingscanoeladns.com. We are surrounded by the stunning valley views of Marra Marra National Park. Guests can enjoy hiking, wandering the orchard picking fresh produce, taking a tractor ride, feeding the animals and relaxing. Please note we are a working farm so sometimes tractors and vehicles can be heard working from 7am. There will be foot traffic and possibly tractor rides operating near some of the sites although we will do our best to respect your privacy while you are here. We also have a quarry surrounding most of the property, so they sometimes operate machinery early. This is not generally too disruptive though. We are just 15 minutes' drive from the beautiful historical Wiseman's Ferry and the Hawkesbury River. There are multiple hiking tracks located close by. We have several sites to offer around the property. We have a beautiful huge dam just 350m down the gully. It’s super peaceful although a steep walk down the driveway to access, it's definitely worth it, so pack your walking shoes and some swimmers.

Barkala farmstay

Barkala Farmstay is a self-sustaining farm located off the grid, supplying our own water and solar electricity. The Farm is a grazing property situated on 13,000 acres surrounded by the tranquil Pilliga Forest. Only access is a 10km dirt road of the Newell Highway, north of Coonabarabran (follow directions below). As well as farm animals, the farm hosts a thriving community of birds and well- designed bush tracks where you can discover local wildlife, plants, Aboriginal artifacts, great lookouts, sandstone cliffs and caves all in the midst of the Pilliga Forrest. Barkala Farmstay is also home to Pilliga Pottery and the Blue Wren Bush Cafe (closed Wednesdays), offering pottery demonstrations and workshops, traditional European inspired fresh foods with ingredients from our organic green house and homemade Gelato. The property offers two camp sites, Goanna and Kellies Campground, which are freely available to anyone who books a camping stay with us. There are no allocated camping spots in either campground, thus it is first come, first serve. We offer large camping spots with no campground boundaries hence there is space for vehicles of any size. Both camping sites offer compost toilets and showers (although we encourage short showers due to our off-grid, self-sustaining farm). You are welcome to stop by the reception upon check-in to hear more about our campgrounds and we can help you find the perfect camp spot and tell you more about what we have to offer. Campers are welcome to enjoy feeding of our farm animals, our saltwater pool and campfires. Firewood can be collected on the property by yourself, or you can visit the reception to buy firewood. Hillside Camp on Bow River

The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience. If you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. All sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves with open area's. There is an abundance of wildlife to see. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley, which has walking trail access to the Bow River. "Gully View Campsite" is the closest site to the property entrance. Great for overnight stays. It can be set up as a communal campground for larger groups. Guests are required to be fully self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. *Most Campsites now have toilets. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, it may take a few hours for us to reply. We also do Vinyl, Canvas and Leather repairs during your stay in most cases. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

Kentucky is a 400 acre property that was once a dairy, and is now devoted to raising horses and beef cattle. there is around three km of creek frontage and the land ranges from lush creek flats to rugged sandstone ridges. there are several dams and a billabong which are frequented by birds, including Jabiru storks. Wedgetail Eagles hunt overhead. Pretty faced wallabies are endemic and Koalas may sometimes be seen. Our property backs on to the Hogarth Range, where there are numerous orchards. We hope to convert the old dairy bails to a camp kitchen soon, but currently it can be used as shelter if required. Visitors need to be self contained at this stage. Pets are welcome if kept under control.

Guests can enjoy hiking, wandering the orchard picking fresh produce, taking a tractor ride, feeding the animals and relaxing. Please note we are a working farm so sometimes tractors and vehicles can be heard working from 7am. There will be foot traffic and possibly tractor rides operating near some of the sites although we will do our best to respect your privacy while you are here. We also have a quarry surrounding most of the property, so they sometimes operate machinery early. This is not generally too disruptive though. We are just 15 minutes' drive from the beautiful historical Wiseman's Ferry and the Hawkesbury River. There are multiple hiking tracks located close by. We have several sites to offer around the property. We have a beautiful huge dam just 350m down the gully. It’s super peaceful although a steep walk down the driveway to access, it's definitely worth it, so pack your walking shoes and some swimmers.

Barkala Farmstay is a self-sustaining farm located off the grid, supplying our own water and solar electricity. The Farm is a grazing property situated on 13,000 acres surrounded by the tranquil Pilliga Forest. Only access is a 10km dirt road of the Newell Highway, north of Coonabarabran (follow directions below). As well as farm animals, the farm hosts a thriving community of birds and well- designed bush tracks where you can discover local wildlife, plants, Aboriginal artifacts, great lookouts, sandstone cliffs and caves all in the midst of the Pilliga Forrest. Barkala Farmstay is also home to Pilliga Pottery and the Blue Wren Bush Cafe (closed Wednesdays), offering pottery demonstrations and workshops, traditional European inspired fresh foods with ingredients from our organic green house and homemade Gelato. The property offers two camp sites, Goanna and Kellies Campground, which are freely available to anyone who books a camping stay with us. There are no allocated camping spots in either campground, thus it is first come, first serve. We offer large camping spots with no campground boundaries hence there is space for vehicles of any size. Both camping sites offer compost toilets and showers (although we encourage short showers due to our off-grid, self-sustaining farm). You are welcome to stop by the reception upon check-in to hear more about our campgrounds and we can help you find the perfect camp spot and tell you more about what we have to offer. Campers are welcome to enjoy feeding of our farm animals, our saltwater pool and campfires. Firewood can be collected on the property by yourself, or you can visit the reception to buy firewood. There is no phone reception close to any buildings but free limited Wi-Fi in the cafe area.

The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience. If you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. All sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves with open area's. There is an abundance of wildlife to see. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley, which has walking trail access to the Bow River. "Gully View Campsite" is the closest site to the property entrance. Great for overnight stays. It can be set up as a communal campground for larger groups. Guests are required to be fully self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. *Most Campsites now have toilets. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, it may take a few hours for us to reply. We also do Vinyl, Canvas and Leather repairs during your stay in most cases. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

"Duck Downs" Snowy Mountains

T.J Wilson We have 3 remote sites and 3 dispersed sites and the property is six kilometers from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. We are located 30 minutes drive south east of Jindabyne and 40 minutes drive south west of Cooma. There is a flush toilet and fresh drinking water is available at our dispersed sites. Caravans can easily be filled up via garden hose and if you are staying on one of the remote sites this can be done easily prior to settling in. We have a mowed loop track giving easy access from each site to stroll to the top of the hill, walk the dog or enjoy the 360 degree views. Take a picnic in the evening or just a glass of wine and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. After dark, relax and toast some marshmallows over the fire pit and discuss what you are going to do the next day. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner Phillip, our son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi, Myonie the Moodle and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's our peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. In Dalgety township you can have a meal and catch up with a local at the "Buckley's Crossing Hotel" or take a walk around the show ground, town and along the river reserve where you can have a swim and relax on the riverbank and view the historic Dalgety Bridge circa 1888 across the Snowy River. Then come back in the evening to look for platypus when they come out to play. Visit the local 'Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery' incorporating the 'Dalgety Brewing Company' situated approximately 10km north of the town on the Snowy River or have lunch at 'Tuscany in Dalgety' 2km to the west of town. Take a trip to Jindabyne which is half an hours drive to the west, walk round the lake, visit the 'Jindabyne Brewery', great food, beer, cider and wine or the many other restaurants and cafes in town. Spend some time at the 'Snowy Region Visitor Centre' and the 'Gaden Trout Hatchery' or catch your own trout in the lake or at the 'Eucumbene Trout Farm'. Travel beyond into the mountains and Kosciusko National Park to Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Charlottes Pass. Explore the many walks in the national park including the walk to the top of Mt Kosciusko. Visit the 'Wild Brumby Distillery' enjoy some European fare and locally crafted Schnapps, Gin, Vodka or Gluhwein. Take a day trip through Adaminaby to 'Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pool' in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park, picnic, swim and tour the caves. Visit the "Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Café in Cooma and learn the history of the scheme. The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Make it your base camp while enjoying all that the winter season has to offer and lets not forget the skiing and snow boarding of course. Well that's just a sample of some of the things you can do but if all that sounds like too much, just put your feet up and have a rest at your campsite!! P.S. The annual Dalgety Show is held on the first Sunday in March every year and did you know that Dalgety was one of the sites considered for our country's capital. Come and take advantage of the Wollombi Valley's beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Sit and relax or get adventurous and explore the area. The historic village of Wollombi is only 25 minutes away, and has cafes, shop, museum and the Wollombi Tavern. The popular Broke and Pokolbin wine regions are a short 25-40 minute drive away in the opposite direction. Yengo National Park has some wonderful look out spots-great to drive to Finchley lookout to watch the sun set or check out Aboriginal art sites. No guarantee but...You may see wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, goanna's, kookaburras, bower birds, lyre birds,superb blue wren, gang gangs, black cockatoos and so many other native birds/creatures.
