Great experience at Jila Campground, well deserving of 5 out of 5 stars.
Location is excellent, only less than 40 minutes from home, with a beautiful riverside setting. The accessibility of firewood was very helpful and made things easier during our stay, and we were also happy to share with other campers on a cold night.
We always take pride in leaving our campsite clean and organised. We even brought a rake to tidy up leaves and small branches in the morning to help protect our tent area.
What we really appreciated was how flexible the cancellation policy was and how simple the camping rules are. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the neighbours were very friendly and easy going, which made the experience even better compared to other sites where things can be quite strict, like not being able to play music after 9pm.
Facilities were impressive, especially the tap water right next to our site, very clean toilets, and the added fun of the kayak and water slide.
Highly recommended. Thanks for a great experience.

Great 2 night stay at the glamping site. The campsite was clean; the toilets were well maintained.
It’s a beautiful place to camp for a couple of nights.
The campground is at the bottom of the hill. We loved the stay with our two kids under 6.

While it was nice to be in ‘the bush’ for a weekend, this place lacked the basics and I’m not sure how $145 a night is justified. The toilets were disgusting and having no showers kind of sux. Probably these things will come. If it were me driving a digger I would’ve graded more flat areas for camping. It’s all hill???? Very few spots were actually flat/level.

Loved the tent set up. Made things so easy for a last minute getaway.
Played in the creek, the field and the kids had so much fun with the cows wondering around the camp site.

We stayed at Jilla Campground (glamping tents) this weekend and came away feeling very disappointed. The setting itself is stunning, and the amenities were reasonable. The ‘kitchen’ was functional and the toilets were clean, so the place does have potential…
However, the check-in experience was unacceptable. Our check-in time was 1 pm, and when we arrived, our glamping tents were not ready!!! We contacted the owner and, an hour later, received the following message:
“I’m at work and my wife is a nurse and had to work last night. If you want a refund I understand. I can’t do anything else for you. You can go and enjoy the river for an hour or so.”
There was no accountability or urgency to resolve the situation. In the end, the tents were not ready until close to 5 pm, meaning we waited almost four hours before our tents were done, please let that sink in!!!
That is a significant loss of time, not worth what is being charged and down right rude!
Additionally, the water was turned off for around 2-3 hours in the late afternoon because it was being diverted to run a large water slide. On a cold afternoon, when guests were coming out of the creek and needed a hot shower, this felt poorly thought out, and I’ve seen the same complaint in other reviews now! (There needs to be a communal message or alert so that campers know when there will be NO WATER)
Overall, a beautiful place, but the lack of organisation and accountability made the experience disappointing. ❌

As a group of four families, it was so fabulous that the camp ground wasn't too busy and we were all able to set up near each other and with lots of children, we weren't a bother for other campers.
I was pleasantly surprised by the toilet facilities and grateful that they were clean, stocked with toilet paper and had lighting.
We also appreciated the kids kayaks, which kept the children entertained for hours.
We are already starting the conversation for next years camping trip

What a fantastic place for kids! We loved our time glamping at Jila - lovely tents, comfy beds, great amenities. The team went the extra mile setting up the water slide for the kids, we had huge games of soccer on the freshly mown soccer pitch, the river was idyllic and provided hours or adventuring time in nature. Definitely take bikes, kids rode around constantly. The bbq’s and hob were handy, the showers hot, water stopped running at 1 point and the team immediately came and fixed it up. Festoon lights at night were pretty as a picture. It was all just fantastic. Can’t fault the place.

A great camp close to Sydney. It is lovely and private, although there is not a lot of flat area without overhead branches which, with a tent, can be a little concerning. Bathrooms did not have toilet paper for 1 day/ 2 nights but otherwise great spot. This is our second time visiting.

It’s a great spot for camping, especially with kids as there is lots to do with the river nearby, the kayaks, the slackline/ninja course and the soccer field. Being able to make a campfire was a big plus and there were several opportunities to purchase firewood. The facilities were clean and it was a great place to spend 3 nights over a long weekend.

Loved our two days spent here. Ideal for kids of all ages.
Also liked that there was lots of room for our large group, despite the grounds being busy due to the easter long weekend.
We didnt glamp but this looked great and would like to try this next time!

The dirt road in was pretty rough with lots of holes and rocks. The campsite was super crowded (probably because of the holidays). Toilets were clean though. Overall it was just okay, not very nice, and the fencing kinda limited the space.

I absolutely love the location close to home and the beautiful river frontage. Really appreciate being able to have a fire and bring our pet however for the cost of $120 a night to not have power, showers or mowed grass. I slipped quite a few times on cow pats that I could not see in the long grass on the way to the toilet. It is hard to justify the price as it creates slightly higher expectations for maintenance of the property.

First time at Jila Campground and definitely not the last. We stayed two nights (Feb 2026) — the grounds were clean, facilities were ample, and the natural bush setting is stunning. The highlight is easy access to the Grose River — absolutely beautiful.
Sites aren’t all perfectly flat, but that’s part of the charm — it’s nature as intended. Choose a spot that suits your setup and plan ahead.
Plenty of firepits. Firewood was $20 per bag from a ute onsite, or you can forage (bring a handsaw/hatchet; chainsaws aren’t allowed).
Flushing toilets — simple but functional. A blessing nonetheless!
Wash-up sink near the main campground (down from the glamping area). We brought our own potable water supply (20L jerry can - lasted 3 days for 3 families); each family brought their supply of drinking water separately.
Kayaks available for a gold coin donation supporting Beyond Blue — get in early or you'll miss out!
Grose River is shallow for the most part, making it extremely kid friendly. There are arrows pointing to entry. Soft sands - some areas have stones as expected.
Central bins provided.
Access road is steep, clay-based and unsealed. 4WD or AWD recommended; plan load carefully if driving FWD or RWD. Check the forecast, plan and have contingencies.
Mobile and Internet - intermittent availability for Telstra and no service for Optus and Vodafone from our experience this weekend.

I was really hoping for Jila to be amazing, but we have left with mixed feelings. So much of this place is good, just not great as you would expect paying $50 per head per night.
Amazing location just on the outskirts of Sydney. The drive down to the camp from the road was fun in a 4wd however I don't think I'd like to tackle it in a 2wd especially in the wet. The property is huge with heaps of space, but not a great deal of the space is level to set up your camp. I would imagine during peak times finding flat ground would get tricky so get in early! Flushing toilets were clean and in good order and had toilet paper! The ability to have a camp fire is always amazing however I would BYO firewood, lots of little kindling bits around but nothing substantial in size. Yes there are cows on the property, yes there is cow poo around, yes there are flies. Yes we are in Australia - this happens!
The kayaks available for use are a nice option, the flooring in the storage shed is in a bad way so be careful! The river is spectacular, but only accessible after navigating your way over or under an electric fence and then down a bit of a steep embankment. I will also note during our stay there was some kind of construction noise during the day and a few big trucks coming and going. If you are looking for peace and solitude, this is definitely not the camp for you. In all, not a horrible stay, just not as great as I had hoped given the $$$. Appreciate the host opening their property to us.
