Welcome to this remote piece of paradise! Rhapsody is located in Gingkin,, which is not far from Oberon NSW, about 3 hours west of Sydney. Campsites are hidden in a remote valley direct frontage to the pristine Hollanders River, adjoining the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. There are two private campsites on grassy river flats surrounded by eucalyptus forest. The sites are very secluded so you will see lots of wildlife and you're guaranteed not to see any other people! Only one group can stay at each campsite and campsites are on different parts of the river so privacy is guaranteed. In dry conditions 2WD is fine for Wallaby flat but in wet weather, 4WD is required. Platypus flat is 4wd only. You can always park at the top of the hill and walk down first if you're not sure. Dog friendly. Campfires permitted in a designated area when restrictions aren't in place. Gather your own wood from fallen timber on the way in or BYO wood. Not much firewood available on site. Both campsites can get quite cool as they are low in the valley. This is a wild and remote area. Guided remote bushwalks also available for those who are fit and adventurous. Both campsites have a pit toilets, cold shower, spring water on tap, picnic tables.. Water is sourced from a distant spring in the mountain and is gravity fed to the site by above ground pipe which heats the water during the day. There is a small area where you can get Telstra mobile reception at the cattle grid on the way into the property, but very limited mobile reception in this area. If you are on Optus or other networks you won't get any reception. There is no mobile reception at camp - perfect for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature!

Best place yet!

Wallaby Flat
What a stunning place to camp! It was a great place to enjoy nature and wildlife. The road in is a little rough, which worried some in our group, but even after 2 days of rain, they were fine getting out. It felt lovely and remote, but was not too far from Oberon when we wanted to go out. Danny was an awesome host, very thoughtful and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Easter 2025 at Platapus Flat

Platypus Flat
Platapus Flat was a fantastic location for our annual Easter Camping trip. Three families of four, kids ages ranging from 8 - 13. The location is spectacular, the creek could have been made by AI it is so beautiful. We loved the fact that the campfire looks over the creek so while the kids played, we could sit by the fire with a full view. The driveway into the campsite, particularly the last 400m is definitely 4WD only. Danny is a friendly and helpful host and I would not hesitate to recommend this spot.

Idyllic, private camping

Platypus Flat
Rhapsody is in a beautiful part of the world! Bordered by national park, it is idyllic for camping. It means you can sit by the fire and look across the shallow river and enjoy everything nature has to offer. The bird life is amazing. Danny was a super helpful host when we got in a little bit of car/caravan trouble. The facilities are clean, basic but definitely fine. The hill into the valley is steep and not for the faint hearted! Next time we will stay at the other site on the property, it’s flatter and captures more of the winter sun. Will definitely come back with friends at another time. Love that our dogs could be off lead the whole time too.
