Beautiful location with plenty of privacy and in the middle of nature. Great views of the two little lakes and the forest. It's not far from a handful of little towns but it feels isolated enough that you would think you're in the middle of nowhere. Best of both worlds. Will definitely return. The hosts were very helpful and kind.

I would recommend this site for campers who are fully self contained and don't mind sand and very basic/primitive facilities. You can see they've made an effort to offer activities for the kids which is really appreciated (unfortunately it was far too windy for us to utilise any of them but the gesture is much appreciated). The host was great and very responsive to communication however our main issue was that it was difficult to find the site at first, as the map drawn doesn't include the other road at the first fork when you go through the first gate, so it is very confusing, and also very frustrating when you have to maneuver a large caravan when you've made a wrong turn. I would recommend specifying, "Come through the gate, code is XYZ, take the left fork and continue to camp site." and include the road you don't want people to take, on the map. As well as installing signs at that fork immediately after the gate, with a big sign saying "Hipcamp" or "Campers this way". It could be a really great place with a little bit of work. Thanks for letting us stay.
We did a couple of nights tent camping with kids and a pup and loved the little walk down to the river. Weather was luckily lovely. Very noisy when windy. Unfortunately the flushable toilet was broken when we were there but plenty of other option for compostable ones. Host was also very lovely. Plenty of things to do with kids too. Pups enjoyed their freedom. It’s not a hotel trip so what’s provided were enough to enjoy the camping. No water line but plenty of drinkable water provided too. Phone reception was also handy to have. Enjoyed the stay very much.
Beautiful spot, feels like a national park and dogs are welcome. Lovely walk to Little River which would be great to swim in during Summer (bit cold for July).

Great location for accessing the National Park and local towns and attractions. Very central, but tucked away nicely. Great woodland on site. Grounds could be better managed and restored to minimise bare patches.
Absolutely loved our stay! Nice scenic campsite and lots of room for our dog to run around. Thank you Luvina and Victor 🙏🏼🏕️

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
The pictures made the campsite look like a legit set up. When we arrived it was just bushland with some paint on a tree to outline the camp sites. The toilet was however adequate.
Considering it was suitable for pets, my dog came face to face with a wild dog which then caused my partner and I to have to run back to camp. The wild dogs then proceeded to spend the next hour howling. The pond also did have kayaks, which were sadly sunken.
If you want a true wild bush experience with the possibility of being eaten, this is for you.
How to improve…. Lower the price for the quality of campsites being provided. Make it known of the possible wildlife you will encounter when going to the toilet. Put a light in the toilet. Make the camp diagram easier to read.

Had a lovely time at The Secret Getaway, Buxton. We pretty much had the entire campground to ourselves which was lovely. Location was easy to get to and staying close to the dam, meant we had a lovely view. It was also a nice surprise to have a flushing toilet! Definitely recommend staying here.

Convenient location with well maintained toilets, water and fire pits provided. Some games and kayaks and direct access to the national park.
We were on Site 6, with a beautiful view of the dam. Ground was sandy with lots of boulders so we had to get creative with placement of the pegs for our tents.
Nice to be away from other campers and have the dogs off lead (with supervision).
Great place to camp overall. Spacious sites and plenty of sun coverage (slightly bad for those who rely on solar). Clean toilet facilities with additional toilets. Owner supplies clean water for use (pre-filled in portable drums for campers to use). Seems like the owners do daily checks to ensure the place and campers are happy! Big thumbs up.

Great location not dar from Sydney, quiet, with big sites so neighbours always seemed a long way away.
Saw an echidna and some kangaroos.
There were no grass sites when we were there so make sure you prepare for this.
Great spot for the kids, great facilities and each site feels sucluded.
Bushwalk was great.

Tent camping here was nice, it’s ideal for people on their first camp as it’s not as far away from everything. Also have good signal still.
Only thing to point out, during our stay there were constant tree cutting noises from morning till before dinner. It wasn’t really as “relaxing” due to the constant noise from the area. Not sure if the owners are cutting trees or neighbours.

This place has a lovely bush setting and great access to a beautiful walk. Unfortunately all of the sites had old, broken outdoor furniture which ruined the natural bush setting, and the dam was full of sunken kayaks.
Overall too expensive.

Nice spacious sites, great for dogs. Unfortunately first night was disturbed by other noisy campers until I asked them to wind up at 1AM. Otherwise good, enjoyed seeing the kangaroos morning and evening. Would definitely stay again.

Very close to a very beautiful river/ clear water swimming hole.
Amazing location if you are attending the feathered friends black cockatoo sanctuary.
Clean toilets, random furniture could do with upgrading but the ability to have a large fire is handy. The camp areas are flat too.
It's a good bit of land but has plenty of potential to be better

Recommend Site 6 very great private spot for couples
Had a lovely, peaceful weekend with my chocolate Lab. We did some of the short walks around the area. She loved kayaking in the dam with me on the kayaks provided and also playing with the basket ball in the water (also provided). Camps were very private so that even when other people came in you weren't looking at other's camps. The composting toilet was spotless. The camp sites are quite large and ours had a fire pit and a lounge.
