The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience for nature lovers seeking adventure, peace and serenity. This is not a place for parties and loud noise, but if you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. Most sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7kms down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. For all 4WD areas please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley. All sites have toilets, but guests will need their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, sometimes it may take a few hours for us to reply. No motorbikes or chainsaws and no hunting allowed. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

Gully View is situated towards the front of the property, about 2km from the entrance gate. It is a picturesque large grassy flat area between Shepherds Gully and the upper end of Flight Springs Creek, which is mainly dry at this site, and winds down around the base of a hill of box gum and Iron bark trees. These sites are 100m apart and perfect for groups or family gatherings or for people who will be travelling back and forth from the property to attend other events and for over-night stays for quick access. There is a dam close by, children must be supervised. Campers with 4WD can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Campers with 2WD can drive to the 4WD Only sign and with a 15min walk, access the river, the cave walk and other walking trails.

This Site is for 4WD vehicles with Fully Off-Road Camping Trailers and Tents ONLY. You will need Low Range to get back out from this site. It is extremely steep with loose gravel. Please let your tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. Note: If you have a low toe bar you are likely to scrape or bottom out in the gully which you need to cross to access this campsite. Riverside is a grassy flat on the banks of the Bow River, which has a continuous flow of water with rock pools for swimming and fishing. There is some shade at this site, particularly of an afternoon. This site has its own private spot on the river named "Bow Beach" with its large sand bar by the water. Campers can also access the river from two other locations and explore the 4WD tracks.

Bow River Campsite is situated along the bottom of Flight Springs Creek as it merges into the Bow River at the gateway into the Goulburn River National Park. A flat grassed area with shade trees and only 2-minute walk to the river. Campers can also access the river at two other locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Note: This site is right at the gateway to the National Park, so of a daytime, at busy times, people may park at the parking area in front of this Site and walk past to get to the entrance gate to access the river.

Wallaby Flat is a large grassy flat, a favourite spot for Wallabies, designed to be as spacious and private as possible for our guests. Spread out over a large area, each site has its own private spot, about 50m apart from each other, with its own firepit and toilet. Great for overnight stays and for campers attending other events in the area. These sites are 1km from the entrance gate, for quick access. There are some areas of slightly sloping ground but there are plenty of level spots also, as well as shade or sunny spots. There is a dam near these sites, children must be supervised. Campers with 4WD can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Frog Rock Campsite is situated above Flight Springs Creek. A flat grassy area with shade trees. Just a 5-minute walk down into the creek itself, then a 20-minute walk down along Flight Springs creek, a very pretty area which has a natural spring and small rock pools running down between sandstone and oxide ridges of caves to the open river flat of the Bow River. Campers with 4WD can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Campers with 2WD or AWD can drive to the 4WD only sign and with a 15min walk, access the river, the cave walk and other walking trails. Note: there is a dam about 100m from this site. Flight Springs Creek Campsite is situated along the bank of Flight Springs Creek which winds down towards the Bow River, nestled between rock faces of caves and native bushland. It is a shallow running stream most of the time. The site is on a flat grassy area beneath a canopy of Box Gum and Moss rock. Very Picturesque and only an 8 min walk to the river, at the Bow River Site Entrance Gate. Campers can also access the river from two other locations and explore the 4WD tracks.

Eagles View Campsite is situated on one of the largest hills on the property. A flat grassed area with a lone shade tree overlooking the rolling hills of the property and the beautiful Goulburn River National Park which you can see for miles. If you want to watch Eagles, this is one of their favorite hunting grounds. There is some phone service at this sight most of the time. Campers with 4WD can access the river from three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Campers with AWD can drive to the 4WD only sign and with a 15min walk, access the river, the cave walk and other walking trails.

Flights Ridge Campsite is situated along the main track, about 1km from the Bow River. It is a flat ridge lined with caves on either side, running down between Flights Springs Creek and Potato Gully. A lightly grassed area amongst Ironbark, wattle and pine trees, with plenty of shade, and a lovely view of Flights Springs Creek. This site is the closest site you can get to the river with a 2WD vehicle. Campers with 4WD can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Campers with 2WD or AWD can take a 15min walk to the river, the cave walk, and other walking trails. Note: there are many areas of cliff edge and sheer drops on either side of this site. Not suitable for children unless they are fully supervised.

Canyon Camp is in a very secluded spot away from the main tracks. It is a flat grassy area alongside a dam at the base of a small canyon of sandstone cliff face with caves and bushland. You can set-up camp right next to the dam or further up into the canyon. The ground does become slightly sloping further up into the canyon though. It is situated at the very top of Potato Gully. Campers with 4WD can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Eagle Ridge Campsite is in a very secluded area, away from the main tracks. It is situated on top of a ridge of caves along a grassy hillside overlooking the rolling hills of the property and the beautiful Goulburn River National Park. A favorite hunting ground for Wedgetail Eagles. It is unsuitable for children unless they are fully supervised 24/7 as it has cliff edges and shear drops. There is some phone service at this site. Campers with 4WD can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Campers with AWD can drive to the 4WD only sign and with a 15min walk can access the river, the cave walk, and other walking trails.

Potato Gully

It is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. Please let your tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. Potato Gully is in a very secluded area, a grassy flat situated along the bank of a gully surrounded by beautiful caves and moss rock amongst lovely tall box gum and ironbark trees. Very Picturesque. This site has its own access to a beautiful spot on the River, Bow Horseshoe which is about 1km down the river from the "Bow River Site" entrance gate. A 10 min walk along potato gully, until it reaches the river. You can come back the same way or you can do the 1.5 km loop which brings you back along the other side of the ridge. We have tried to retain the history of the property, and the story goes that early settlers would grow their potatoes along this gully and that is how it got its name. Campers can also access the river from two other locations and explore the 4WD tracks.

Shepherds Gully Campsite is situated toward the front of the property, about 2kms from the entrance gate. A large private space, behind the dam on the bank of Shepherds Gully. This site has morning and afternoon shade but not much shade through the middle of the day. 4WD with camp trailers and small caravans can access this site. AWD without towing anything can also access it. There is a sandy gully that you need to cross which may be difficult for 2WD vehicles. Pine Ridge is a very secluded site, situated off the main tracks, along a small gradual falling ridge. Safe for children with no steep areas close by. A protected spot nestled amongst Pine, Ironbark and Wattle trees. This site is lightly grassed and is slightly sloping, although there are a few flat spots large enough to pitch a tent or two. There is some service at this site most of the time. Campers can access the river at three different locations and explore the 4WD tracks. Canyon Camp

My wife and I enjoyed 6 days of relaxation and isolation from the outside world. This is the 2nd time we have been at David’s HipCamp, and it did not disappoint us. David is an amazing host who cannot do enough for you and had prepared the ultimate campsite. We again stayed at the Canyon Campground where we cooked some incredible meals, checked out the stars, and also toured David’s property via the numerous 4x4 tracks. We will be back. Glenn and Nat

Pine Ridge

Campsite was clean, spacious, and ideally located. There was nothing more we could have asked for. The property itself is quite amazing, with some incredible four-wheel driving tracks and walks down through gorgeous rivers and caves, which thoroughly entertained both myself and my children. Dave was a gracious host, happy to show us some of the best places to check out the caves, as well as provide plenty of information about the property and what was going on in the area. We will absolutely go back and stay there again. It’s easily one of my favourite places to camp.

We had a great stay at Shepherds Gully. All campsites are immaculately presented and well looked after. The toilets provided were extremely clean and meticulously maintained. Dave was a fantastic host and nothing was too much trouble for him. He clearly loves his property and is proud to share it with campers. We can't wait to get back there again.

Untouched paradise

Valley View

We were greeted at the gate by Dave. His extensive property work of the 4wd tracks and bush trails to swim spots was amazing for the trip we were hoping for. We stayed 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Campsites were spaced well and felt private. We spent our days by the river in spots that seemed like no one else had ever stepped foot in the sand there before. We crossed paths with many kangaroo and wallabies as well as stumbled past a large echidna on our walk to the beach spot. Very dog friendly and accommodating. Dave came and had a great chat the evening before we left and we felt his hospitality as he made sure we were settled in a had had a good time at his property. The local town is just what we needed with a great bakery and iga just a few corners from Dave’s. Highly recommend, we can’t wait to be back. After checking out the other campsites, next time we are hoping to stay at the potato gully spot.

Wallaby Flat

David was a very accomodating host with a beautiful property. The sites we stayed in was flat, a little dusty (understandably so as it is so dry at the moment!) but lovely. The property is well signposted and offers many different tracks to drive.

We loved our stay. A lot of thought has gone into this camp, catering for all types of campers with a full on 4wd access camp-site near the river. David has displayed maps and signs guiding you to caves and water holes that are on his property. I recommend this camp and we will be back. Thankyou David.

Amazing location, we stayed at the cow river campsite and had the best time. David was friendly and helpful and the signs and maps around the property were very well done and made sense. Would stay again and want to explore the national park more. Thanks for the memories.

Flight Springs Creek

We camped at Flight Springs Creek site which was nicely tucked away and quite private. Unfortunately it was a 40 degree weekend which limited our exploration of the property but we did manage to do a bit of 4wd around for a look. Quite an impressive property and way larger than I had anticipated. Would love to return in some more pleasant weather and really have a good look around. A big bonus is definitely having a toilet on site, makes life a bit more comfortable. Definitely recommend booking in and having a camp here.

Huge property with plenty of space! The camp sites are all very private and separated from each other. Dave has set the property up well with good signage and maps of tracks. He has a portaloo per site as well as extras around the tracks. Plenty of areas to explore, lots of wildlife and the river was lovely! Will absolutely be back!

This site was absolutely stunning. So much to do around the area and all the wildlife running around was amazing. Definitely pushed the limits of my Holden commodore Ute with getting into the site, but just taking it carefully and methodically you will be all good with a similar vehicle. Also the stars out there were incredible!

Overall great experience due to shady camp site and proximity to the river for swimming. Many sites aren’t shaded though so make sure you ask if its going to be hot. Also take a mat: lots of ants, including bull ants. David is a great host, really helpful and informative.

We had a great time at Frog Rock. David was a great host, drove us in, made sure we knew where to go and was always helpful on the radio. The 4WD tracks were a highlight for the whole family. It was dryer than we hoped but we were still able to swim down at Bow River and explore the caves. Our 4 year old loved exploring Flight Springs Creek, the kangaroos/wallaroos and goannas. A wonderful place to spend NYE and we'll definitely be back.

This is beautiful land, and the camps feel like you are truly in the wilderness (apart from the IBC and very handy portaloos!). It was really dry when we came, but the river still ran and even in the middle of summer it was not too hot to explore. The nights are cool and the sky is so clear, in such an open landscape we pitched our swag in the middle of the paddock and felt like we were part of the night sky. The 4WD tracks and marked trails are really great, we found some amazing sites, the caves dotted around are worth exploring.

The whole Hillside setup is just awesome. Large private sites with toilet facilities. The campsites are well maintained and each has it's own unique characteristics. Hidden Valley is just fantastic .... it's like being in a different world. Lot's of 4WD tracks of varying difficulty to try out. Wildlife is everywhere, and the starscape is just beautiful. Wholly recommend any of the sites here. Dave our host was very helpful ensuring we had everything we needed.

Flight Springs Creek

David owns a stunning, expansive property set amongst the hills, filled with caves, walking tracks, and fantastic 4WDing opportunities. The tracks are meticulously formed throughout the property, making it a pleasure to explore and enjoy. David was welcoming and helpful while still giving us plenty of space to relax and unwind. Toilets at each campsite were greatly appreciated and added to the comfort of our stay. Although we weren’t able to have a campfire during our visit, it didn’t dampen the experience, especially after seeing the devastating effects of past bushfires in the area. A truly memorable place to stay.

Eagles View

We had a beautiful stay at Eagles View campsite! Directions were accurate. Dave came and met us at the gate escorting us there. He is very friendly and engaging giving us good directions and advice, but then left us alone until we said our goodbyes. The property is HUGE and full of untapped wonders. We have a 4WD vehicle and made the most of our stay wondering the property in it. It was a bit hot for hiking and then a storm front came through later and overnight which was spectacular from that high vantage point. Before the worst of the storm hit early in the morning the sky was clear enough in places to see the full moon and Orion’s Belt. Magical!💚 Highly recommended. Thanks David. We will definitely be back for a more extended stay.
