Historic rural property close to Wollombi. Tranquil surrounds for Australian Bush camping. Range of camp sites on the large property, suitable for Caravans and other camping set ups that are 4x4. Set up where you like. Open private areas and extensive tracks for walks or cycling. Walk and birdwatch. Greenloo composting toilet. FirePit.Wollombi Springs is 300 acres of a mix of open mowed grassed areas, bush and sandstone ridges and backs onto Yengo State Forest. It's totally private, peaceful and pristine. The heavy rains last week have made the place absolutely pop with green grass, and almost doubled the dam capacity! The site is flood free and well drained. Travel time from Newcastle or Wahroonga ( start of th M1) is approx. 1.5 hrs Wildlife is plentiful all year round, and the place is a bird watchers delight! Photographers will love the variety of wildflowers throughout the year, and rock formations that change colour with the time of day, depending on what part of the property you are on. If you are looking to recharge the batteries, chill out from the hustle & bustle of life and just get quiet, then this is your place :-) Sunset Flats is the first of a number of camping sites we are creating, and is a wide grassed area with a very gentle slope, shade trees and a nearby fire pit. Great for tents or RV camping, with an easy walk to our brand new 'Loo with a View' composting toilet. Please note there may be one other group in the vicinity at times, but chances are you will have the entire place to yourself most of the time. Access roads to the property are gravel, a little rough in spots with a steep climb, initially, but suitable for 2wd in fine weather, and 4WD if wet. Mountain bikes are welcome and there are a number of trails already cut for use, with plans for a complete circuit on the drawing board. If you enjoy hiking, there are no shortage of tracks to wander along, or you may prefer to just sling a hammock and read a book and soak up the silence. Noisy late night party goers are not our ideal guests, as you will discover sound carries in the bush, and we really want our patrons to enjoy the pristine beauty of the property.

Sunset Flats Camping

Awesome spot among the trees, toilet and sink very clean and usable. The firewood was perfect. Robert helped us drive down to the site. I would not reccommend a regular sedan or hatchback to drive on the road as it is very bumpy and rocks will damage/scrape underneath the car.

Sunset Flats Camping

Our recent family trailer camping trip on Robert and Patricia's beautiful property was amazing. Lovely grassy clearings in amongst the gum trees gave plenty of options for picking a site, all of which had plenty of firewood and were mostly level. There were a couple of other small/family groups there at the same time, but there's plenty of room to set up and we couldn't see or hear anyone else. Hope to see you again soon, thanks!

Sunset Flats Camping

Sunset Flats is a beautiful and peaceful place to camp! Robert and Patricia were very responsive and welcoming and have thought of the little details that make a big difference. There is plenty of space between campers, the ‘loo with a view’ is great and there is lots of bushland to explore. The kids loved it too and we hope to be back soon!

Excellent private camping area in tranquil Wollombi. The property is very well maintained, toilet facilities, dam, and creek. Robert was very friendly and accomodating, even giving us some fruit fresh from their property. We were lucky enough to explore the caves and see the wildlife that is on offer. We had a very tranquil getaway and will definitely return!

We are so glad we got to stay on Robert and Trish’s land for opening weekend. It’s an absolutely magical spot nestled between a ridge and a gully. Close to Wollombi and just over 2 hours out of Sydney, it’s nestled so far away from main roads you get privacy, peace, and solitude. Trish and Rob provided a lot of little touches, from the new green loo with fresh flowers on the windowsill, to a jar of Easter eggs and really nice hand soap. They are incredibly friendly and clearly love their land and want to share it with more people.
