There are a few kayak rental companies we can connect you to if you'd like and we know all the local spots for adventure, food and shopping. Legacy Farms Leisure Area

5 sites ¡ Lodging, Tents43 acres ¡ Lumber Bridge, NC
We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I work full time as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner plus have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

Secret Garden Bees

1 site ¡ RV23 acres ¡ Linden, NC
Welcome to our Farm! Please read ALL information below and watch our video tour here: https://youtu.be/9RVml5psbZ8 Secret Garden Bees is a Veteran Owned active honey farm nestled in a quiet, rural area outside Fayetteville, North Carolina. Enjoy fresh, raw honey, farm produced jelly, fresh eggs, and enjoy our large family of ducks, chickens, farm dogs, and of course, honeybees. Our 1850 home overlooks our 23 acres that we are happy to share with you. I started keeping bees as a way to help treat my PTSD/Anxiety from my time in the Army Bomb squad and was able to grow it into a business that supports my family. I am grateful for the blessings we have been given and look forward to meeting you! We now have two parking spaces with power (110v, 20amp), water, and a dump station. If you need to use the power we ask that you pay a small service charge ($20) to help us recoup the cost of installing it and pay for the power. The water line typically has a little air in it, so we recommend running it for about 30 seconds until it runs normal before hooking up your hose. If you come in the summer/fall you can enjoy the large field of wildflowers. Great for pictures! You are welcome to take a walk through the gate and "sit a spell" by the pond in the Adirondack chairs, or enjoy a fire in the provided firepit by the parking area. We can fit three guests, but if its booked just contact us and we will try to sort you out. Our spots do not allow for pull through parking. Please note, we are an active honey farm. That means there are going to be bees flying around. If you are allergic to bees, please find another place to stay.

The best camping near Jones Lake State Park guide

Overview

About

Jones Lake State Park is known for a peculiar geographical feature known as the Carolina bays. A Carolina bay is an oval-shaped depression, named for the sweet bay, loblolly bay and red bay trees that typically grow around them. Many smaller bays are found throughout the southeast, but there aren't many like Jones Lake, which is about 8,000 feet long. And here’s where it gets strange—the “lake” is only 8.7 feet deep!

You can splash around in the shallow bay just like you’re in an above-ground pool, only your surroundings will be much prettier. There are a few other lakes, like Jones and Salters, to check out in the area as well. Encircling the bays are tranquil forests with hiking trails and a few of the best picnic spots in the state. But we’ll leave it up to you to find them.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Jones Lake State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak. Summer months can be warm, making early morning or late afternoon visits more comfortable. Winters are generally quiet, offering a serene park experience, though some amenities may be limited.

Know before you go

  • Check the weather forecast before your visit to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Be aware of park hours, typically from 8:30am to 5pm, and plan your activities accordingly.
  • Stay on designated trails to protect the park's delicate ecosystems and your own safety.
  • Bring along water and snacks, as options for purchasing food may be limited within the park.
  • Remember to pack out all trash to keep the park clean for wildlife and fellow visitors.
