The sunsets are amazing and the star lit skies are uninhibited by city lights. One of the few lights that can be seen at night lights up a steeple silhouetted against the mountain ridges. It’s truly a peaceful site. Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We are located in a rural setting in the foothills on the edge of the South Mountains Range, a branch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you for checking out our place! We are Jud and Amanda Wortman. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. Eden Oaks Vineyard & Campground was a tobacco farm (antique tobacco barn still on property). The house was built in 1910 and has been updated. We purchased it in 2014 and converted it into a vineyard. We have RV sites with 50 amp and 30 amp electric hookups and water, and tents sites. For 2023 our rates are $30/night for RV Sites (50 amp or 30 amp electric hookups and water) and $25/night for Tent Sites. Tent sites do not have electricity or water hookups, but water is available at the well. (Due to inflation, 2024 our rates will be $30/night for RV Sites, $25/night for Tent Sites.) We do not have a dump station, but we do have a Port A John and a list of dump stations nearby. Campfires are allowed unless we have a state issued burning ban. Campers are responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires. Please be extremely careful during dry or drought conditions. Conveniently located one mile from Hwy 421 but remote and peaceful with plenty of room to roam on our 22 acres with grapevines, fruit trees, forest, creeks, fields, goats, Beagle and Jackabee (Beagle/Jack Russell) dogs, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. Also, we have wildlife such as birds, squirrels, groundhogs, deer, raccoons, opossums, etc. We are about 15 miles from Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro (home of the Merle Fest and Apple Festival). Eden Oaks is 18 miles from W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir, 24 miles from Stone Mt. State Park, and 10 miles from Elkin (sponsors of the Wine Festival and Pumpkin Festival). Eden Oaks is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs (American Viticultural Area). We're next door (3 miles) to Raffaldini and Piccione Vineyards. Take a day trip to Boone, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Airy, Winston-Salem, Charlotte or additional areas of interest. We love it here and would like to share it with you. He is better suited for small groups and has more privacy. Easy drive right to the campsite There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, the weather can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add that this is not completely private. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will also end a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Close to the U.S. National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

Blue Ridge Ranch, established in December of 2020, is located on 440 acres nestled between two mountain ridges in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The property features an established pasture, mountain ridges, barns, and a homestead. In addition, the ranch is home to five ponds (some stocked and one trophy), more than a mile of trout streams, waterfalls, and hiking trails. Together, they provide the perfect foundation for the establishment of farming, livestock, camping, and community events. Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. It is a canvas tent and it is camping, it is on a wood deck that does have small space between the boards. It does have a fan to help with ventilation, during humid months it can feel stuffy if the windows are closed. July and August are usually the buggiest (spiders) and most humid. Our land offers direct access to two rivers—Wilson’s Creek( a scenic River Act member) and the Johns River soon to be a scenic river —along with freshwater springs , hardwood forests, and miles of private hiking trails that can be walked . Wildlife, water, and mountain air make this a peaceful retreat into nature. With a multitude of activities , like one mile away across the road, you'll find Brown Mountain Beach Access—a favorite stop for the motorcycle and RV crowd. For hiking enthusiasts, the Table Rock trailhead is less than 5 miles away, Sitting Bear up Hwy 181 less than 12 miles and so much more like the blue ridge parkway etc . Our farm is a perfect spot for cooling off, relaxing, or using as a launch point for exploring the wild region that so closely surrounds us. Please note that Wilson’s Creek Gorge is closed for Summer 2025, but you’ll still have all our private creek and river access on the farm property. Campsite Details: Your campsite includes a wooden tent platform (~12’ x 24’) with steps, a fire pit and grilling area, four chairs, a round dining table, a water hose, and four electrical outlets. A newly built outhouse is just steps away. Tent Platform Use: Additional $8 per night, payable upon arrival A Frame under construction. Firewood: Not provided, but available for a fee by prior arrangement with owner Dogs: Welcome if well-managed and leashed when needed Parties or Gatherings: Not permitted without advance approval and paid arrangements Swim, rock-hop, or sunbathe along our private riverbanks. This is by far my favorite campsite in North Carolina! Scott is such a generous and kind host. The new amenities he added to the campsite has made it a place I never want to leave.

These two hammocks are included in the site. They both have mosquito netting if desired. There are more hammocks on the site as well.

I absolutely loved camping here. I was in a shakedown trip in my Suburban Conversion and this was the perfect spot! Secluded, private, and all around great. The tobacco barn was really cool. The amount of firewood was AWESOME for the price. I didn’t think I’d burn it all…but I ended up doing so with a fire late into the night. Hosts are very nice. I will definitely stay at this campground again.

My 10 year old son and I went tent camping for 2 nights. It was a beautiful spot right in the river. One side has a swimming hole and the other side had shallow pools and waterfalls that my son really enjoyed. Everyone was super friendly and the portapotty was clean and stocked. I would definitely go back, but if you're wanting a more secluded feel while primitive camping, you could hear trains and an occasional loud car. Nothing too crazy though. It was very peaceful listening to the crickets and the water flowing beside us. My son loved it. He has a picnic table set up, fire pit, and a swing that we spent most of our time in. I truly enjoyed my stay

This campsite is unreal! Excellent for beginners and a dream for seasoned campers. Scott is very accommodating and the site is well equipped - great grill set up and a newly added shower! Spent hours hanging out in the pool below the waterfall, it’s so comfortable (grab the floaties we left from the shed!) and has a surprising amount of fish. We’ll definitely be back! 10/10

This was such a peaceful location! The site was tucked away in the woods and the sounds of the creek running and the birds chirping made for a very relaxing stay! Unfortunately it rained on and off while I was there, but I did get to see the chickens, cows, and got to feed the donkey before the rain set in. Cheryl was very welcoming and gave me all the information I needed! Be sure to check out the Shore-Styers Mill Park waterfall right down the road!

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

Beautiful campground! My favorite part was how private the sites were. We stayed in our small teardrop camper in Car Site 4. The viewpoint with the BBQ and tables a very short walk away where we laid on the hammocks and watched the sun go down. There are two trails--the overlook trail in particular was beautiful!!! The outdoor showers were hot, super clean, and how lovely it is to shower outside. I didn't expect the vending machines, it was a nice touch!!! It's close to South Mountain State Park if you want some longer hikes very close by. The glamping sites were beautiful even though we didnt stay in there. We also were able to have the dogs off leash for the most part and they LOVED it. Will return. Lots of love put into this campground and can't wait to see it continue to evolve.
