Campgrounds, people, noises, regulations, things you won't find here. You will find happiness, peace, the sound of the winds in 3000 year old trees, alpine streams tricking through ancient untouched forests, great horned owls and moose calling into the night, coyote echoing at sunset signaling night approaching, the warm smell of pine and summer grasses, touching the warm rocks next to the stream while you listen to the birds and crickets. I could go on and on, these are the things I see when I close my eyes and think of this place. This site sits at the base of (2) 14ers. in thee middle of a sunken meadow. This is the most beautiful and secluded camping experience you will experience in Colorado. There are miles of 4x4 and atv trails. There are countless hiking trails for day and short nature hikes. Above the site sits bristlecone pines that have appeared in ansel adams prints and are absolutely amazing. The sites sit on 160 private acres which borders national forest. There is a small a-frame tent that's insulated with big windows, locking door, skylight, solar for charging electronics, and a full size bed. The cabin is roughly the size of the full size mattress but seems bigger because of the a-frame roof. Its warm and cozy and keeps the critters and animals out, so you feel safe and comfortable. There are lots of amenities on site. There is a picnic table, 10'x12' waterproof awning and wood deck. There is a bbq, bear box, huge stone fire pit and bucket toilet. The road into the site was graded last year but still has small potholes typical of a Colorado county road, most low-profile cars will do fine. If you have a rv or camper, the turn around is limited, no tow behind campers or vehicles over 20'

The cabin sits on a beautiful 4-acre plot, surrounded by forest that gives great access into the National Forest surroundings. You can park right next to the cabin with a 4x4 or AWD vehicle, or park at the bottom of the driveway for a short 50-foot walk from the cabin, if you’re driving a regular car. The Fisherman’s Cabin, hosted by Huts and Hills, has a rich and fascinating history. Originally built by two professors from Berkeley College, the cabin was designed as an annual mountain retreat. Each year, they would journey from California to Colorado, seeking peace and relaxation in the serene forests of the Lost Acres National Park. At the turn of the century, the nearby Denver Wheel Club, with its headquarters right by the river on Insmont Drive, would host a major bike race every year. Back then, the area had no roads, and the only way to access these lands was by train from Denver, making it an even more remote and special destination. Today, the Fisherman’s Cabin is conveniently located just a short distance outside downtown Bailey, Colorado. It offers easy access to various mountain passes such as Guanella and Kenosha. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering countless opportunities for hiking, fishing, hunting, biking, and wildlife watching. We had a blast at Glen Isle. Everything from camping to fishing to disc golf everything was fantastic. Hosts were amazing and the campsite was private and riverside. A great close getaway and a few days in paradise. Cute horses and donkeys as well. Best campsite we have been to all year. It’s the total package!

Weekend Trip to Cloud 11: Secluded & Close to Town

Myself and a few friends tent camped here and really enjoyed it! Camp site has ample trees for tying up a hammok and spots for tents. Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

Weekend Trip to Gondola Village at Holy Cross

We had a lovely (but challenging, carrying a toddler) hike up and stay at Cabin #2. The cabin was quaint, clean and more well-appointed than expected (I guess we didn't need to pack a hatchet?). It was hovering around freezing when we arrived, but we got the stove lit and got the space up into the 50s for a comfortable night. Sunrise was lovely from bed and we finished our trip with a hike up to the lake in the morning before descending to the car.

4 nights at Laughing Valley Retreat

We had an awesome time at the Laughing Valley Ranch! Bill showed us around and we loved looking at the animals, he’s a very knowledgeable and kind man. The campsite was an a gorgeous outlook that made for fantastic views. We are birders, so loved all of the cool birds around. Joe also made our stay super easy and comfortable! He gave us rides to the site, made sure we had wood and water, and showed us some cool spots around the land. Big shoutout to Joe! Overall we really enjoyed our time here, great place to get away and take in the mountain view’s for a couple of days, while not being super far from Denver and the cute town of Idaho Springs. Recommend this spot for any hiking, camping, or overall nature lovers.

Weekend Trip to Glen Isle Resort

We had a fantastic experience there the weather was decent and a little bit cold at night if you stay down next to the river you should expect it to be about 10 to 15 degrees colder than the rest of the place because of the water. There were plenty of trees to hang your hammock on and plenty of space to put up a tent you could even go back into a more secluded area that was up against The Rock face back behind trees if you wanted. We had a great time we walked around we got a tour of the lodge which was really cool. And we went to the Sasquatch Outpost and Bailey as well several other places that were open it was really great time. We also went for a hike on the pain gulch trail which was very pretty very good views. I would highly recommend camping at this campground the only downside was the road traffic because of the highway right there could be a little loud at times but it didn't interfere with sleeping or anything else.

This place was beautifully remote, yet accessible enough that we could get there without four-wheel drive. The stars at night were just incredible. Our hosts greeted us when we arrived, and there was a space available just for us at the top of the hill. We would probably have seen other campers, had we not been the only ones. We had a fantastic stay at Laughing Valley a few weeks ago. The tent, campsite and amenities were impressive, making our experience comfortable and enjoyable. What truly stood out was our engagement with Joe, who took us on a tour and showed us all the cool ranch animals — his enthusiasm and kindness made the visit memorable. When a storm was approaching, Joe went above and beyond to ensure our tent was securely latched and that we felt safe and comfortable. Great spot very high up on the mtn so you get really good views from the campsite. Very secluded from other campsites. Very rocky though so be sure to bring sleeping pads if you decide to tent camp. We had a great time up there.

Chantelle was a wonderful hostess. She went above and beyond to assure we had a comfortable experience at the camp. We got in a bit late and it started raining so she offered we could stay either in the tipi tent or the tiny house. We opted for the latter, very grateful. The camp has everything you need- firewood with a pit and a roasting rack, water, plenty of tables and benches. Bear boxes at every site. There is wi-fi at the common area and fun books and games in the tiny house. We’d gladly come back.
