Welcome to Camp Always Choose Adventures (Camp ACA) Located at 9,300 feet in Idaho Springs, Colorado, we’re just 15 minutes from downtown while offering a true high-country experience in the heart of the Rockies. Every stay helps support our mission, we thank you! Our Mission Camp ACA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to breaking barriers in the outdoors for youth and individuals with disabilities. Funds from camping and events directly support accessibility, education, and underserved communities. Thank you for supporting our mission. Learn more: [xxxxxxxx] You’ll also meet our friendly resident goats 🐐 and dogs 🐕, who are part of daily life at camp. Wildlife sightings are common, including moose, bears, and elk. Firewood is provided at no extra cost, and a communal BBQ area, with picnic tables are available. Bear boxes on site, compliments CPW. RVs or campers: Please call ahead to make sure your vehicle will fit! Camp ACA is also a unique venue for small group events of up to 25 people, including family reunions, intimate weddings, retreats, workshops, offering a private, scenic setting surrounded by nature. Our driveway is the gateway to Yankee Hill, the largest Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) area in the Front Range, with endless opportunities for hiking, exploring, and responsible off-road recreation. 🌲 Arrive empty-handed and still camp. We offer a donation based Gear Library including Paddleboard's, kayaks, tents, sleeping bags. 🚣 A private lake is just 10 minutes away, perfect for a quiet escape into nature. We’re also only 15 minutes from the Argo Mine / Mighty Argo, the historic Idaho Springs gondola, and numerous mountain hiking trails. Neat spot enough off the beaten path to have some peace and quiet. Clean cabins and facilities. The kid and I really enjoyed ourselves even with it raining more than half the time.

This place was amazing,I took my mother up for the week for her birthday and happy to say I choose the right place, the view was great and it was not to far from the glorious hot springs. In addition the host very please and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend!

Phenomenal views on site 2, porta potties dotted throughout the campground and very clean. Well designed so each site feels private. Our kids loved the goats and exploring the valley of national park JUST below the campground. We'll be back!

This was a great glamping experience. Great view, shelter, location and guest service! A great balance between being isolated and around other people! The bedding was comfortable and the A frame was small and practical. Would recommend for those who are camping for the first time!

Tent Site 1 - Sunrise Overlook
I came up with a group of friends as a final big trip before college. It cannot be stated enough how excellent this experience was. Unfamiliar with the location, we got lost on an incorrect road and the host drove out in the pouring rain to find and help bring us to camp. She offered us a ride through the surrounding land on her UTV and we had a blast. I would have paid for that ride. The dogs on site were very gentle and friendly and came up to us numerous times. On the second day, it hailed and rained pretty bad while we were in town. Upon returning to our site, we discovered our tent had gotten wet in the inside. Not only did she provide us with fresh sleeping bags, she allowed us to stay in 2 of her cabins, complete with mattresses and other furniture for no additional cost. She allowed us to pet and feed her goats, offered to get us groceries, and was friendly and approachable every step of the way. The common area is equipped with numerous grills, 2 fire pits, cooking utensils, picnic tables, seating, and even activities like connect four, bowling, and nerf guns. The bathrooms were clean and stocked with everything needed. The bear boxes were secure, and perhaps most importantly, the views were astounding. I cannot recommend this campsite enough. The land is wonderful and the host is the best I’ve ever encountered at any site.

Campground Takeover
The full campground takeover at Camp Always Choose Adventures was absolutely awesome!! Having the entire campground for our kids to roam was perfect for our group, and Chantelle was such an amazing host. She was always thinking about how to make it fun for our kids - from feeding the goats to the offroading "roller coaster", it was a trip they won't forget! Chantelle was always a gracious host ahead of time, as we had a lot of questions that she was always ready to answer. She also thought ahead to get some oxygen for our out-of-state family, which ended up coming in handy. I would strongly recommend this site to anyone looking for a space for a large group... we can't wait to come back!

Chantelle was great to work with! Unfortunately I was unable to stay at the site because my car broke down on the way. But Chantelle was chatting with me to make sure I was making it up safe and even offered to come pick me up. I really appreciated her being so attentive and look forward to booking again once my car is fixed!

I booked this spot solely on the photos and because I saw the words non profit. I feel bad that I didn't read the rest because OMG was this such an amazing experience! The views were breathtaking, the drive was so much fun, but the true amazement? That was what ACA is all about! The mission, vision, and execution is something that I wish I was able to support more. 12/10 experience! If you want a safe, beautiful, secluded spot that supports an absolutly amazing person and Non Profit, this is it! Come for the views, leave feeling like you contributed, in a small way, to something bigger than yourself! Thank you for such an amzing space to spend the night.

Rocky Mountain Valley Micro Cabin
I cannot say enough good things about this place! Chantelle was an amazing host, super accommodating and took us on a same day reservation after our other place fell through. We stayed in one of the micro cabins facing out at a beautiful valley, with endless hills and Mountain Views in the distance. Quiet, tranquil, and just what we needed. The bed was super comfy and the cabin was clean! Super dog friendly, we brought both of our pups and they loved exploring the land (the first night). Only downside for us, which no one had any control over was the altitude. We adjusted relatively well, a bit nauseous in the beginning but just keeping hydrated helped with that a ton. Our dog however had a really hard time and was vomiting the morning after arriving. It got to the point that he was not keeping down water and we unfortunately had to leave a day early. Chantelle was so understanding and kind, even messaging me the next day to ask how he was doing (much better now). I was so sad to have to leave early and could have stayed another week easily, but my pups health had to come first. Please don’t let this dissuade you from coming and staying here, just be aware you are at a very high altitude.

The Bishop Castle Cabin
This is a really pretty site! Chantelle is super helpful and the side by side ride she took us on was super fun. The road in is super bumpy, so be prepared for that. The cabin is cute, and there is already a hammock provided and room for another one. The amount of stuff they have for you to use is awesome too. They have brand new bear boxes all over the campground.

We loved staying in Chantelle’s Bishop Cabin! We enjoyed the property immensely. Chantelle was quick to offer suggestions for local activities. We enjoyed a wonderful hike at nearby Mt Pisgah, conversations with fellow guests, and interactions with all of the animals.

Chantelle was a wonderful hostess. She went above and beyond to assure we had a comfortable experience at the camp. We got in a bit late and it started raining so she offered we could stay either in the tipi tent or the tiny house. We opted for the latter, very grateful. The camp has everything you need- firewood with a pit and a roasting rack, water, plenty of tables and benches. Bear boxes at every site. There is wi-fi at the common area and fun books and games in the tiny house. We’d gladly come back.

My three grandkids had a wonderful and fun time camping at ACA. They had fun feeding goats, interacting with her dogs, riding in her side-by-side, seeing moose, and experiencing the beautiful outdoors. Chantelle is an excellent camp host. She is a very gracious, generous and caring person. She facilitated in bringing smiles and special memories of adventure. The campsite was nice with amazing views and close to Idaho Springs. We will return.

Great little spot with nice amenities; porta-potties, shared fire area, and games. The overlook site was beautiful! Nice getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay here! Clean toilets, WiFi, stunning views, and a great spot to pitch a tent. Quiet and peaceful. Someone was there to meet us when we arrived. We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful place, isolated just enough buy conveniently close to Denver! The host was amazing and was my kid’s favorite thing about the trip.. Our disbursed tent site felt private yet was close to the car. Highlights were the baby goats, the awesome host, and a moose wandering past our campsite at dusk. Highly recommend.
