El Capitán State Beach
Camping along the beach gives you double the fun if you love sun and surf.
El Capitan offers a rare type of camping experience. You can sleep right on the beach. The rhythmic waves of the Pacific are like the world's best white noise machine. You don't even need an airbed underneath you because the sand is so soft.
In the morning you get up, throw on your swimsuit, and dive into the warm water. Rinse and repeat for as long as possible.
A nearby RV campground lets you pull up your vehicle. Hookups mean you can shower off after your day in the sun. it's also a great place to store your paddle board and scuba gear.
On the other side of famed Highway 1, El Capitan Canyon offers a quiet place to relax. Luxury cabins take glamping to new heights as you sleep among stunning coastal mountain scenery. Head east from here to explore a lush, dense forest and its wildlife.

In addition to the 123 tent/rv/trailer/van sites, there are also 5 group sites (Portola, Ortego, Cabrillo, Drake and De Anza), one of which is handicap accessible. Nine of the tent/rv/trailer sites are specifically set aside as RV sites. Read more...
