The Cuyama Valley separates the Caliente Mountain Range from the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. Tucked away in the northern foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range of the Los Padres National Forest is Cottonwood Canyon of the Cuyama Valley, located in northern Santa Barbara County. Cottonwood Canyon is known for its spectacular high desert landscapes offering open ranges, rolling hills, chaparral with oak woodlands, riparian and juniper-sage terrain, and seasonal wildflowers. Cottonwood Canyon is also home to our secluded 116-acre ranch. The flora and fauna are plentiful, the mountainous views are indescribable, and the night skies are unforgettable! Perfect for unplugging, wildlife watching, photography, meditation, and much more! Our ranch has miles of hiking, mountain biking and horseback trails and is just two short miles from the Los Padres National Forest. This is the true essence of wilderness meets country, and we can’t wait to share it with you! Even though we are in the middle of nowhere, we are conveniently located near many recreational sites. Just to name a few, about 20 miles east is Alison Canyon Park; About 30 miles east off highway 33 is OHV recreation area, Ballinger Canyon; About 35 miles east off Hudson Ranch Road is the Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge; About 60 miles north off Soda Lake Road is the Carrizo Plain National Monument; About 12 miles west is the Chimineas Ranch Ecological Reserve; and, about 60 miles east off highway 166 is Wind Wolves Preserve. Get a peaceful night’s sleep with full bellies! Here at -G Ranch, it’s important to us that you get the most pleasant stay that you deserve. Bring your own food to grill on our communal BBQ or possibly let us cook for you! Contact us before your stay and we can discuss food details. Learn more about this land: Come spend the night under the stars at our Grant Line camp site and event center. The Grant Line campsite is situated right next to an original 1840’s Spanish Land Grant boundary line, which is intersected by Forest Route 11N01. The grant has since been divided, but large pieces of land still remain, mostly inhabited by mountainous wildlife, ground squirrels, rabbits, coyotes and cattle. This area is also rich in Chumash history. Million-dollar views of the Caliente Mountain Range await you for evening sunsets and the Sierra Madre Mountain Range await you for your morning coffee enjoyment. Don't miss the brilliance of the famous Cottonwood Canyon Wildflowers with your front row seat. For your comfort, there is a 16x20 rustic-style shade structure (which has also been used for a dance floor!), water spigot, fire pit, small BBQ, and an outhouse. We have oak firewood available for purchase and a larger BBQ capable of cooking for 200+ guests available for rent, if needed. This site also provides plenty of parking for multiple RV’s and can accommodate larger groups.

Gorgeous and memorable experience
We were fortunate enough to come during California’s super bloom and truly enjoyed the majestic and memorable setting. David and Whitney were absolutely so sweet and very accommodating. The site was really cool, the event center was fantastic for live music and dancing, The woodfired barbecue worked perfectly, the out houses were super clean, there were plentiful amounts of tables there for us as well. We hiked through the beautiful Rollinghills on their property and enjoyed all the flowers and the views. It is truly a magical place and we were so grateful to be there during this special time of year. David and Whitney were very responsive to any requests we had and they were so cool! An absolute 10 out of 10 experience!!! Perfect for reunions and bigger groups!

Incredible family camping!
Absolutely incredible! We felt so well taken care of when Dave and his kids met us at the site. The place had incredible views and it was so wonderfully quiet. We had 3 families camping together, all with young kids, and they had a blast riding bikes and exploring the creeks. We also were in awe of the wildflowers blooming! The hillsides were literally covered in gold flowers. It was an incredible experience and we are already figuring out when to book this place again.

A chance to get away!
The beautiful mountainous views allowed unparalleled respite, along with a life-affirming gale, quiet, rest, and solitude. I cannot recommend this location enough for anyone wishing to escape the dull drudgery and drum of city life. It exceeded my expectations. That alone would've sufficed, but the hosts David and Whitney G made my stay memorable. Their son & dogs who I briefly encountered on two occasions (once for directions and again for firewood), added to the grandeur. I plan on returning more than once, as long as I am able to. Thank you for opening your home and allowing me a chance to breathe. Comforts abound at G ranch.

If you’re looking for a private, peaceful spot with gorgeous views, excellent wildlife spotting opportunities, and nice amenities, G Ranch may be the perfect place for you. The grounds of G Ranch were well-maintained with a dirt/gravel road leading up to the property. The private drive into the property ensures your visit here will be one of peaceful solitude. Most likely, you won’t see another soul. Upon our arrival, my husband and I were greeted by our host. He kindly gave us a tour of the property, and highlighted all the accessible amenities/facilities. My husband and I felt very well taken care of during our visit. Thank you! During our stay at G Ranch, my husband and I reposed in the quiet seclusion offered under the canopy of a large oak. The spot was situated close to a beautiful, covered pavilion, picnic-table, outdoor bar area, and simple, toilet facility. Surrounding the main campsite were beautiful mountain views and acres of space to roam. G ranch would be an excellent venue to host a family get-together. And, because this property is so gorgeous, it could be an inspiring place for an intimate, rustic ceremony, or a surreal photo- shoot. Should your aim be to take a siesta from the outside world, look no further. G Ranch is a perfect spot to unwind, relax, and recreate. Thank you for sharing this special space! My husband and I loved our stay here, and would recommend your Hipcamp to anyone who appreciates natural beauty and solitude.

Excellent last minute booking
Campsite was perfect for our family of 4. With all the space that was available our two kids (aged 7 and 8) were able to run around and not worry about bothering anyone and could be as loud as their heart’s desired. David was excellent in communicating throughout the entire process and was very accommodating as we were running late on arriving.

Long vistas and beautiful night sky
The views and star-filled sky at night were beautiful. It is a remote spot but only 5 miles or so from the highway. The hosts contacted us via text to be sure we knew where to go on the property and we parked our camper van on flat ground with shade trees, patio tables and a gazebo where we ate our meals.

Views and vibes are impeccable!
David & Whitney have a beautiful property out near New Cuyama and the Carizzo Plain. A group of 8 of us camped here for two nights at the end of April and found the views to be stunning in all directions. The camp area is on David's property but located pretty far away from the house, so the area where you set up feels private. You camp under a few shady oak trees and there are additional shade structures that protect from the sun or wind. It makes for a very nice place to lounge during the middle of the day. There are tables, a fire pit, and running water (although its recommended that you filter it before drinking). The bathroom is a port-a-potty, it's fine. The camp area is large and would even be suitable for a larger group or small event. We definitely felt like it would be a fun place to get a bigger group of folks together for a friends retreat weekend. We had planned drive and explore the surrounding area, but ended up just staying on David's property for the trip. During the day we hiked around the ranch in a few directions, played bocce ball, and threw a frisbee in the field next to the camp. We had a very relaxing time, its a great place to chill with friends, cook out, stargaze, and just rest and reset. David was super responsive to questions, helpful as we were arriving, and an overall great host. Nelly and the other dogs on the property are super sweet. We are hoping to be back again, as its a really lovely place in a beautiful and unique location.

Lovely spot on large plot of land!
Found this spot after searching for a spot that wasn't connected to any other spots and I am SO glad we chose it! To start things off, you will get to their property just over 4 miles from the main city road. When you pull up to the property, first thing you will see is a house. I was greeted by the 3 pups and David the owner who was very friendly! He showed us the area of where we would be staying which was pretty far from his home. After driving down the road we realized that we were pretty far and even though there is a quiet time at 10pm, you wouldn't need to worry about tip toeing around due to the distance. After pulling up to the spot, David followed us and had a little chat about the area and he was off! We quickly setup camp and relaxed! This spot was absolutely amazing and a great spot if you have a large crew! The Good things: Toilet / Sink Water for cleaning up LED Lights hook up (Must bring a Generator for it) Fire Pit (They did have wood on site! His fantastic kids brought it over to us in a pinch when we realized the group had forgot! Thanks so much guys! ) Tables and Chairs A medium bar area that you can use for your beverages A Large Gazebo area (Great for hanging hammocks!) Large trees that provide shade Extremely large area for those big groups. A cool hiking trail Amazing views just in general. It almost looks fake with how great they are! I Highly recommend this spot! I absolutely loved it and will stay here again!
